Ensuring all the elements of your online class are accessible can be intimidating, but it can be done! Start small and take it step by step to make your online classroom accessible. Megan Tolin, assistant professor in Trine’s Franks School of Education, joins Keirsten and Regina to explain accessibility and share tips to make it attainable.
Many people don’t consider how important good etiquette is in the online environment. Netiquette has become more important than ever to express respect and build relationships. Keirsten and Regina are joined by Crystal Ringer, TrineOnline’s Director of Admission and owner of Ringer Consulting, to explain best practices for netiquette when teaching online.
Determining what information we can trust from the internet can be tricky. In this week’s podcast, Regina and Keirsten discuss the CRAAP test, an evaluation method by the University of California’s Sarah Blakeslee that looks at currency, relevance, authority, accuracy and purpose when considering a source. Not only do our students need to cite valid sources, but we as educators need to as well.
Several years ago, TrineOnline created the Online Faculty Certification Course (OFCC) as an orientation course for its new online faculty. In this week’s podcast, Regina shares how the OFCC came to be and what topics she, as the facilitator, covers in the course. Even if you’re not a TrineOnline faculty member, you can apply the concepts taught in the OFCC to a variety of contexts in K-12 and higher education.
