Is there one specific plan God has for you? What if you miss it? In this message, we explore the difference between our general calling (who we are in Christ) and our specific callings (how we live that out). From Genesis to Jesus to Paul's letters, we see that calling is less about chasing importance and more about being faithful. Your importance doesn't come from what you do — it comes from whose you are. We'd love to connect with you! As a church, we recognize that if we are to live out the great commission, then one thing is essential: We must be a people who hear God. In the last 5 weeks, we have talked about the practical ways God speaks - through Scripture, through prayer, through other people, and through our circumstances. Additionally, we must recognize that hearing God is not first a skill to master, but a relationship to tend. God is speaking, we just need to position ourselves to hear him. For centuries, followers of Jesus have participated in Advent during the weeks leading up to Christmas. Advent, a word meaning "arrival," is a season where we rehearse the story of God — recognizing that the story of Jesus is not one story among many that we choose from, but its the story of reality. For the next 4 weeks leading up to Christmas, we will slow down together, ponder, contemplate, and participate in Jesus-centered practices… helping us make room to celebrate the Hope, Peace, Joy and Love of God revealed through the birth of Jesus. In this week's message, Associate Adult Ministries Pastor Blake Stophlet teaches on Joy. We'd love to connect with you!
