We don’t really subscribe to the seasonal anime grind but when a show gets talked about this much we’ve gotta see for ourselves what all the hype is about. Vivy Fluorite Eye’s Song was all we were hearing about, the new original anime by Wit Studio, written by Re:Zero and Chaos;Head creators, you can’t help but wonder what these two teaming up might produce. There’s a reason why we picked it but we weren’t expecting what we found.. Find out in this episode of the Otaku Host Club podcast! It’s back! The anime we, and probably the entire furry community, were waiting for!! This time we take a deep dive into the second season of Beastars. There was so much going on in these next 12 episodes of the series that we couldn’t even keep track of all the things we wanted to discuss. Where is Ruis and what has he been doing this whole time? What’s up with that snake lady? Who is this titillating new drama club member? WHO ACTUALLY KILLED TEM?!?! All of these questions and more will be answered in this episode of the Otaku Host Club Podcast!  Catch us in between episodes on our discord https://discord.gg/Ac5Gfr9 on Instagram @otakuhostclub or on our website www.otakuhostclub.com https://linktr.ee/Otakuhostclub

What’s the difference between Promised Neverland and Summertime Render? If you answered time travel, that’s only part of the answer in this episode where we talk to hosts from the Anime Brothers Podcast and review one of 2022’s overlooked gems. We also talk about love triangles, time travel logic, and of course, existentialist philosophy. Come take a seat and wonder… Will Dan talk about Legend of the Galactic Heroes this time? Even after a disastrous launch Cyberpunk 2077 still managed to come away with a popular, immersive experience that spawned a Netflix anime by Studio Trigger, called Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Released all the way back in September 2022, the success of this show brought many players back to the video game it was based on. Get HYPED!!!! It's the last episode of the first season of Chainsaw Man (we all know they're going to adapt it in full!) For this episode, we had to bring on our good friend Kristella to talk about this epic anime event. I mean can you guys believe we witnessed this in real-time?!? One day we're all gonna look back at this and say, I remember where I was when CSM premiered. AND for this special episode, we're reviewing the final episode and giving our overall thoughts on the series as a whole, talking about our favorite episodes and scenes, and ranking all our favorite EDs. Thank you guys for coming along with us on our Chainsaw Man journey. If you're new and just joined us from Chainsaw Man, welcome! We loved having you listening and in case you're unaware we do another bi-weekly show where we talk about everything under the sun so hit us up on our website www.otakuhostclub.com  and don't forget to join our discord server to chat with us about CSM or anything else, here: https://discord.gg/qhcvn3e  and hit us up on our socials https://www.linktr.ee/otakuhostclub
*UPDATED 12/28/22 We are on the homestretch less than a few days before our final season finale. We are all super excited to finish the year with one of the best anime series! Join us in this E11 recap of Chainsaw Man! - - https://www.linktr.ee/otakuhostclub
Remember when Geoff asked me and Dan if there was going to be a training arc?? Well, guess what guys! We were totally wrong! However, we do have to hand it to MAPPA because this isn't your usual shounen training arc with long days in the fields without lunch all just to jingle Kakashi's jingle balls. Instead, we get a Chainsaw Man death grip bear hug, lots and lots of dying, and a sneak attack that ends up almost the same as the first day of training and we are totally here for it. Now if we could only know what the Future Devil has in store for Aki... https://www.linktr.ee/otakuhostclub
This week Dan is back in Baltimore and it (just) happened to coincide with the theatrical release of the final installment of the Evangelion Rebuild movie series..it actually didn't he flew back early just for this. We had planned on doing a full series dive into the Rebuild movies as a whole (but) as we found out that was not going to happen at 8pm on a Sunday night after a full 2.5 hour movie and dinner. So here are our (first) impressions of the Thrice Upon a Time and a little bit of our burning Rebuild questions which Dan is (not) an expert in. And look forward to a full dive into all the movies in a future episode! *SPOILER WARNING* See what we (did) there... https://linktr.ee/otakuhostclub
After last week's downer of an episode Division 4 continues to fight for their lives against Samurai Sword. Once again, the ghost devil can pull the cord on Denjis's chainsaw devil as our hero comes to save the day. Catch up with Chainsaw Man in our weekly recap episodes!
Holy Heck what an episode guys! This might have been an episode on par with AOT's 4th Season, part-one episode 8 if you catch our drift— "nudge nudge". So much happens in this episode it's hard to accumulate everything in this summary and not leave anything out but, we'll try. We pick up right where we left off inside Himeno's bedroom with Denji and Himeno about to have some sexy time, but all of that gets halted by Denji's feelings and instead of bumping uglies they bump fists in a friendship pact to hook each other up with their crushes. Cut to a non-stop whirlwind of action in a train scene much shorter and bloodier than Mugen Train. A massive amount of gun-fu leads to us meeting the Katana Devil and Snake Devil in an out battle on par with Jujutsu Kaisen, and some of our most loved characters up until this point seemingly disappearing out of thin air. But mostly Dan just talked about how sad this episode made him. https://www.linktr.ee/otakuhostclub
In recent years there has been a surge in rebooting older classic anime. Whether it's a full-on proper re-adaptation like Fruits Basket, or a newly reimagined version like Devilman Crybaby. We as fans of these series get a chance to re-live the magic over again while opening a new audience's eye to the beauty of older works and Urusei Yatsura might be the icing on the cake (well... if they could get Berserk right that would probably be the icing on the cake, but Urusei Yatsura would be the ice cream served with it.) For new fans Urusei Yatsura is a gag manga written by Rumiko Takahashi, famous for Ranma 1/2 and InuYasha, that follows a horny lecherous teen as he has to save the world from an invading cute alien girl that prances around in tiger stripe bikini, only for that "alien" to interfere with his love life and prevent him from ever experiencing true love.. or just fondling any of the girls in the show. For older fans, we know how much influence this work had on anime as we know it today. Lum Invader was the first "waifu" that people had actual feelings for.. so many feelings that they would write into anime magazines with their distaste with fan art of Lum in lewder riskier themes. She was the first character we saw with this "moe" idea, keeping her pure and innocent, never letting the gags go too far. With the pedigree of UY and the major influences it has on the medium — as well as pretty much every other Takahashi work, we were super excited to see this long-lost, iconic series get a revamp and hopefully bring this series some attention it deserves.  - - Review starts at 25:00 https://linktr.ee/otakuhostclub
*WARNING: MAY CAUSE NAUSEA* In this episode, we pick up right where we left off, in the belly of the Eternity Devil. After three whole days Denji finally slays that heart and gets him and his comrades, and Arai and Kobeni, out of the hotel. Cut to a work social gathering for all their hard work where we get to see the rowdier side of the group and Himeno completely unhinged. https://linktr.ee/Otakuhostclub If you would like these episodes early head on over to our Patreon https://www.patreon.com/otakuhostclub
If you hated Kobeni in last week's episode you're really gonna hate her in this one. Our devil hunter crew is still stuck on the 8th floor of the hotel labyrinth and we will soon learn that Kobeni is the last person you’d ever want to be stuck in a time loop with. I mean who'd ever trust someone who was forced by your mother to choose between being a devil hunter or a sex worker? Anyway, the crew finds they’ve exhausted all their options with the exception of Power whose mind is left to wander, coming up with wild ambitions to raise the sale tax to 100%. Flashback to Aki and Himeno’s early partner days, life before Denji and Power. We are treated to a comical bonding moment and character development for our new cast member. Just when things were getting boring the devil we thought died evolves into a larger, grotesque Berserk-like creature that makes matters worse for the crew. The devil wants to make a contract that would sacrifice Denji's life for the others' safe exit. Aki and Himeno decide not to kill Denji and they wait for alternatives but Kobeni has other ideas and completely loses her shit. Feeding off their fear the Devil grows and things start spinning out of control, forcing them to run for it. Kobeni makes one last-ditch effort to kill Denji but strikes Aki instead. We are left on a huge cliffhanger with Denji stepping up to the plate. https://linktr.ee/Otakuhostclub if you would like these episodes early head on over to our Patreon https://www.patreon.com/otakuhostclub and give Kobeni a backbone.
“Girls with guns” has been a growing subgenre staple in anime ever since, well, the birth of anime. In the 80s we had series like Dirty Pair and Bubblegum Crisis, the 90s brought us Gunsmith Cats and Kite, and in the 00s there was Black Lagoon and Gunslinger Girl. Bringing us to present day with series like Sword Art Online Alternative, Otherside Picnic, High-Rise Invasion and countless other series that might not revolve around girls with guns, but they do have at least one girl with a gun. This last season of anime brought us another great series to add to that list with Lycoris Recoil and made us want to explore the sub genre as a whole. This anime original series about orphaned girls turned trained assassins enlisted to keep this futuristic eutopic Tokyo, safe from any kind of threat is a stellar addition to the genre while building on the tropes that make this subgenre so iconic. We talk about the humble beginnings of Girls with Guns, what made them so impactful to the community and why Lycoris Recoil deserves to stand with it's peers.  https://linktr.ee/Otakuhostclub Don't forget to check out our weekly Chainsaw Man Series as well! In this episode, we pick up right where we left off.... touchin' some tiddie! Finally, Denji got to fulfill his dream and we didn't have to wait until the last episode of the season either. Now that's what we call plot progression! And speaking of plot progression, we get another taste of just how much pull Makima has over the male characters of the show —in a steamy work romance scene, as well as seeing all the new devil hunters in action. What's in store for the team as they traverse the mystical hotel much like the one in Garden of Sinners?  - https://linktr.ee/Otakuhostclub
In episode 4, Denji and Power resolve the previous encounter however a new foe appears just as they thought they were in the clear. But their little faux pas causes them a mountain of repercussions including having to live with the ever-uptight Hayakawa so he can keep an eye on them. How will the poor boy ever read his morning newspaper in peace with these two demi-devils doing naughty things in the bathroom?
We started this podcast with dreams in our hearts and cute anime girls in our minds.. well, maybe Amelia. Geoff was probably thinking about some cool cyberpunk stuff and Dan was probably re-watching Legends of the Galactic Heros for the 20th time. For this episode, we answer our community's burning questions about us and our podcast and the of course hypothetical anime scenarios! Thank you to everyone who submitted questions and here's to 100 more episodes!! - Join the discord to continue the conversation: https://discord.gg/qhcvn3e Check us out on our website: https://www.otakuhostclub.com/ https://linktr.ee/otakuhostclub
