My name is Kelly Wilson. My life has been rich with beauty, excitement, love and friendship, yet plagued with illness, abuse and personal challenges that test a soul to its limits. A mother, a wife, a daughter, sister and friend, an entrepreneur and a success. I am all these things. Life is a gift and through its adversity, I have gained knowledge, power, freedom and happiness. My hope is to inspire strength and encouragement by sharing my experiences, life events and struggles. Tragedy and comedy, because that is life.

For the month of December I will be interviewing 3 amazing, local business' owner. Up first we have my friend, Erica Whitman. She is the owner of Adica wellness clinic. Erica has been a practicing therapist for over 15 years. Born and raised as a country girl in Browns Flat NB. Erica moved to Fredericton straight out of high school to complete her education at the Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage. She graduated with honors from the college, and went on to take additional courses in sports massage, pregnancy massage and infant massage, scar tissue and burn victims, PTSD, Traditional Thai Massage, and Labour Support Provider.
In addition to being the Clinic General Manager Erica is a full time Therapist, and provides private lessons for Yoga. Having completed her 200hr Yoga Instructor course at the Yandara Institute in Mexico, Erica teaches classes and private sessions at the Clinic.
Erica is commited to her profession and her clinic. Her love of helping people transpires into her work each and every day.
On this weeks podcast I interview someone I grew up along side and I have watched develop and grow a very successful business and beautiful family! In the beginning there was a little girl without a care in the world . She was happy , secure and innocent. This episode talks about my early childhood and how special these times were to me. I have been through a lot in my life, but I can always find comfort in remembering my upbringing, even though it wasn't always perfect and we endured a lot as a family, at the end of the day, I was loved and that's all I could ask for.
I can’t imagine a better way to kick off hometown month then to interview my big sister about our life growing up and the many adventures we had together.

When Lisa came into my life, I knew I was meant to guide her through her diagnosis, and she was meant to teach me. We are kindred spirits, and I am so happy she became a part of my life. Life threw us SOUR lemons (terminal illness'), and together are making lemonade.

Over the last five years, she has been combining her passion for teaching and raising awareness about child sexual abuse. She decided to use her personal story as a sexual abuse survivor to educate as many people as possible about the detection and prevention of this epidemic. She is proud to be part of a fantastic team that is motivated and determined to make the world a safer place for children. Jessica is a survivor of child sexual abuse from a male family friend. After years of manipulation and control, even after the abuse ended, she decided to go against his wishes and break her silence. She has turned her pain into a registered charity, speaking to thousands of all ages about the empowerment found in using your voice to Roar.
The Aftermath: Part two finds Kelly’s abuser in jail for the crimes he committed against her and another young girl. While Kelly thought she was able to finally close the chapter, she couldn’t have anticipated the events that followed, including an unexpected drop in during her son’s football game.
Over the last few weeks, Kelly has been recapping her experience as a sexual abuse victim from age 12-16. After many years of trying to escape her abuser, she finds herself subpoenaed to court to testify for another girl who had also endured a similar experience to her. What happens next left Kelly’s world so shaken that she didn’t know how she would ever piece it back together. Things are about to get a little heavy on my next podcast series;
this is just me being honest with you, my followers who I value and appreciate so much.
The truth is that life isn't always butterflies and rainbows,
I know this first hand. I have faced many demons over the years,
and this experience, in particular, was pivotal in shaping me into the person I am today.
In one chapter of my story, I endured sexual abuse for four years.
I have healed through this trauma, and I am sharing it with you
to offer total transparency. I am not a victim. I am passionate about
sharing this chapter of my story with you for one purpose. CHANGE.

this is just of the reported cases and does not include how often this happens to men.
As I share my story, I will also have the privilege of educating our community through guest speakers who will provide resources, advice and help to others who have endured a similar crime.
So while I know hearing this part of my story will be difficult,
please know that my main goal is to bring awareness
