For something so popular, there certainly are a lot of myths surrounding WordPress, its uses, and its viability in certain situations. I can't tell you how many potential clients run as soon as I say, "WordPress."Maybe you've been one of them! Maybe you are afraid of WordPress, too. Or maybe you’re searching for a website solution for your business,  and you’ve heard many stories—both pros and cons—about WordPress that have left you scratching your head in confusion. Here are some of the most common misconceptions, and what you really need to know. The post that goes with this episode: https://www.designerless.com/myths --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/support

I have tech tutorial for you! This is for all the entrepreneurs who know once you have a website up and running you need to send traffic to it, but in the usual style of Designerless, I know you probably can't afford to go out and hire an ads person right now. This tutorial will show you how to design a kickass Facebook Live Photo Video Ad -- also known as a Facebook press-and-hold video ad. Get the post that goes along with this episode and a download complete with screenshots at:https://www.designerless.com/13 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/support

One of the biggest complaints I hear from DIY web designers is they don't have a ton of time. There are somethings you can't skip -- you'll need visual assets -- but you can speed up the design process by taking advantage of Divi's portability function.Resources mentioned:Designerless.comDiviCake.comElegantTheme.com --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/support
Show notes: designerless.com/podcastI keep hearing questions about: do you need a child theme for Divi?Well, the answer is basically, no....unless you're changing your functions file or making other changes to the code of the theme. For just updating CSS, you can do that all in Divi Theme Options. In this podcast episode I talk about child themes, and if you decide you need one I suggest you use the plugin One-Click Child Theme which creates a child theme for you instantly. Also, since recording this episode, I've discovered another plugin for child theme creation, and that's the Child Theme Creator, and it has been updated recently. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/support
Show notes: https://www.designerless.com/8 Not all website hosts are created equal, but finding a good website host is a critical part of setting up any website, whether you're using WordPress, Joomla, or some other content management platform. In this episode, I'm going to talk about what to look for in a website host, so you don't get stuck with someone who sucks.Get my free web design checklist at https://www.designerless.com/tools --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/support
Ah, content migration. This is never fun, but it's often unavoidable. If you've started a website on another platform and then realise that WordPress is the best option for you, your choices are to go through the migration process or scrap it and start from scratch. The biggest concern people have when they come to me about a migration is:I don't want to lose my blog posts. And of course not!Nobody wants to take all their hard work -- all those posts and pages they've spent so long creating -- and scrap them. You're literally throwing time and effort down the drain. Fortunately WordPress has some tools to make moving your content a bit easier.Show notes: https://www.designerless.com/7 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/support
I was asked on Periscope the other day what tools I use to run my website and online platform, and that's what this episode is all about.Unlike traditional show notes, this episode comes with a full list of all the tools I use over at http://www.designerless.com/tools. As much as it pains me to say this, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to, "WTF should I put on my Start Here page?"I get this question all the time, and people are always looking for a quick answer. They want me to give them a formula of exactly what your Start Here page needs to have and where to put it.There is no one-size-fits-all answer here, and the designers that give you a list of elements without first asking about your revenue model, are -- well -- wrong. What you put on your Start Here page depends entirely on what your business model is, and how you make money.Join me in the Designerless Launch Pad and ask me your questions about your Start Here page! http://www.facebook.com/groups/designerlesslaunchpadShow notes: http://www.designerless.com/5 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/designerless/support
