However, he says that the answer is in the verse itself, as it begins "whatever Hashem says/spoke we will do and we will listen". The Mitzvah to take the 4 Species on the first day of Sukkot and then being happy for 7 days makes it sound as if "only" on these days will there be happiness. But the truth is that this is referring to "additional" joy which a person activates due to the 4 types of mitzvah performance one does - corresponding to the 4 species of Sukkot, etc.

When the Jewish people receive holy light from Hashem to wake up, their attitude is to to run to Him with emunah, as opposed to the nations who rather sit back and enjoy the ride etc. But then after running after Hashem He then purposely hides from a person so that he should serve Him step by step etc.
