Impossible is nothing for Adidas, and for Ethan Hunt. Our Tom Cruise / Christopher McQuarrie Blend of the Month wraps up as Christian and Scott take a look at the latest Mission: Impossible adventure, Fallout. They are joined by friend of the show Paul Gunsalus, who has never seen a M:I movie! Scott is a longtime fan, and Christian recently watched all the movies for the first time. How will everybody feel?

Our Denis Villeneuve Blend of the Month marches on, as we take a look at his Best Picture-nominated 2016 film Arrival. Anchored on Amy Adams performance, Arrival is widely considered one of Denis’ best. Our hosts invite LA-based musician Nick Vyner on to the show to take a deep dive into the film. Will they agree with popular opinion, or is it time for a classic Cinema Drip hot take?

Spooky September marches on as Scott and Christian take a look at another famous horror franchise: Halloween! John Carpenter started it all back in 1978 and the franchise refuses to die (just like Michael Myers), with David Gordon Green’s Halloween arriving in 2018. Both of our hosts are new to the series and ready to check out a horror classic and a recent favorite. Which film will they prefer?
Intro| 0:00 -1:30, The Halloween Chronology| 1:30 - 7:45, Fun Facts| 7:45 - 11:31, Halloween(s) Review(s)| 11:31 - 45:09, Closing Thoughts and Looking Ahead| 45:09 - 48:21
Our Women of SciFi Blend of the Month continues, and this week Scott and Christian are scaling way back: from an astroid destroying the world to three super-powered women trying to understand their heritage. This week, we look at Fast Color, Julia Hart’s 2018 feature. Fast Color is not only smaller in content, it’s one of the least-seen movies yet covered in the podcast. Will our co-hosts uncover a hidden gem?
What is Fast Color?| 0:00 - 9:11, Fun Facts| 9:11 - 12:48, Fast Color - Review| 12:48 - 42:00, Closing Thoughts and Looking Ahead| 42:00 - 46:38
It’s time for the first episode of the August blend of the month: Women of SciFi. Although female directors have not often been entrusted with original sci-fi films, there are still some interesting options out there. Scott and Christian start their look at this topic with a film that made its director the most financially successful female director at the time: Deep Impact. Coming out the same year as Michael Bay’s similarly-themed Armageddon, Deep Impact made $350 million at the global box office, but was poorly reviewed. Did our caffeinated co-hosts find a hidden gem, or will they side with the critics?
Intro| 0:00 - 2:54, The Impact of Deep Impact| 2:54 - 15:38, Fun Facts| 15:38 - 19:44, Deep Impact - Review| 19:44 - 41:33, Closing Thoughts and Looking Ahead| 41:33 - 44:44
Magic May wraps up with a special guest — Paul Gunsalus! Paul, a blossoming illusionist himself, offered the original suggestion to look at movies featuring magicians. It was a blast to have him on to talk about Now You See Me.
After their discussion of the movie, the trio take a look at their awards for this blend of the month (including a bonus discussion you won’t want to miss!).
Intro| 0:00 - 1:42, Now You See Me - Background Info| 1:42 - 7:57, Review| 7:57 - 33:02, Magic Month Overview| 33:02 - 36:53, Awards| 36:53 - 49:32, Closing Thoughts and Looking Ahead| 49:32 - 54:44
Magic May marches on! This time, Christian and Scott take another look at a 2006 film featuring a magician at the center: The Illusionist. Despite becoming a box office success, and receiving an Oscar nomination for its cinematography, The Illusionist is not nearly as fondly remembered as The Prestige. Our hosts take a look at writer/director Neil Burger‘s career, share some fun facts as per usual, and then dive into the review. Should The Illusionist be remembered? Or is it better left forgotten?
Intro| 0:00 - 0:49, The Illusionist - In Context| 0:49 - 10:01, Fun Facts| 10:01 - 13:31, Review| 13:31 - 38:49, Closing Thoughts and Looking Ahead| 38:49 - 42:15
Abracadabra Alakazam, Scott and Christian are back at it again!
It’s the start of Magic May here on the Cinema Drip podcast, and our cohosts begin with Christopher Nolan‘s The Prestige. It’s the latest Nolan movie to be covered on the podcast, so the two catch up on his career at that point and discuss the many behind the scenes fun facts. Then, the review. Some say The Prestige is one of Nolan’s best, but what do our hosts think?
Intro| 0:00 - 1:15, The Prestige - Personal and Historical Context| 1:15 - 12:16, Fun Facts| 12:16 - 16:57, Review| 16:57 - 45:45, Closing Thoughts and Looking Ahead| 45:45 - 47:23
It’s time to reflect on The Oscars! Christian and Scott are fashionably late to the discourse, quickly catching up on each category. All in all, a decent show with a bit of a stinker of an ending. Let us know your thoughts!
Also, an update on the next Cinema Drip Blend of the Month at the end of the show.
Cinema on Tap’s first ever monthly keg continues with one of the most anticipated films of the year and one of the best-received: Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
Nolan is back with Cillian Murphy in the lead role for the historical epic about the construction of the atomic bomb. Featuring an enormous supporting cast, a variety of viewing formats, and a practical recreation of the Trinity Test, there’s a ton to get into with this one. We are joined by filmmaker and friend of the show Anthony Fins to talk through the films. Do our hosts agree with the hype, or is one of them ready to drip an atomic hot take?

We’re back — with new branding! Cinema Drip is now Cinema On Tap, and Christian and Scott are cracking into some Double IPAs to discuss one of their most anticipated films of the year: Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One. We are joined by new friend of the show Elias Hoxsie, who designed our new logo!
It’s safe to say that M:I Fallout (covered on the show in June of last year) is one of our favorite action movies of recent memory. Can Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie keep one upping themselves to ensure Dead Reckoning matches up?
If you have any thoughts on Ethan Hunt and his squad (or the new branding!), let us know at our new email address: cinemaontappodcast@gmail.com

Our Hopeful Sci-Fi month continues with Sunshine. After a warning from Christian last week that this isn’t exactly the most hopeful movie, our hosts break down how well it fits into this month while discussing the film’s themes, the cast, and the power of the sun.
Plus, Christian’s thoughts on Hoppers and way too much time spent discussing the merits of Starbucks.

It’s the start of a new month on Cinema on Tap which means a new theme. We’re looking ahead to Project Hail Mary as we discuss some Hopeful Sci-Fi!
First up, Robert Zemeckis’ Contact. Adapted from the novel by famed astronomer Carl Sagan, the film stars Jodie Foster as a scientist facing professional and spiritual difficulties after identifying a message from possible extra-terrestrial life. Taking the debates between science and religion seriously, the film co-stars Matthew McConaughey as a Christian author and political advisor who provides a counterpoint to some of her purely scientific opinions. Does the film successfully explore science and religion? Listen on to see what we think.

Awards season is almost over, and it’s finally time to make our predictions for the 98th Academy Awards! Sinners was the big winner with 16 nominations, and One Battle After Another picked up 13, but there are other great films nominated this year. Will Sentimental Value steal an acting Oscar? How many will Hamnet win? Will Frankenstein win more than just Costume or Production Design? Should F1 have been nominated for Best Picture? We answer all these questions and more.
Once again joined by friend of the show Max Dominguez, we break down every category, share our thoughts on the most likely winners, and offer a few takes on who should have been nominated.

Much like Cathy and Heathcliff, Cinema on Tap has come undone. Period Romance month draws to a close as we finally get a chance to discuss Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights.
Christian is a big fan of her previous films, but Scott is a Saltburn hater. How will they fare with this new adaptation (or is it “adaptation”) of Emily Brontë’s iconic novel?
What did you think of Wuthering Heights? Let us know at cinemaontappodcast@gmail.com
We’re sticking with Joe Wright + Keira Knightley as period romance month continues. This week: Atonement.
A tragic romance, Atonement stars Knightley and James McAvoy as lovers separated by a false accusation of a crime and later World War II. Saoirse Ronan burst onto the scene with an Oscar-nominated turn in one of her first film roles. Also featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, Romola Garai, Vanessa Redgrave, and a very young Juno Temple. But, where does it stand in the great year of 2007? And, is it as good as Pride and Prejudice?
What’s your favorite Joe Wright film? Let us know at cinemaontappodcast@gmail.com
February is here and romance is in the air. With Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights on the horizon, we’re jumping back in time to watch some classic period romance films! We’re starting with 2005’s Pride and Prejudice.
Joined by new friend of the show Shelby Nunn, our hosts take a look at Joe Wright’s debut film that garnered Keira Knightley here first Oscar nomination. We talk hand flexes, awkward cousins, sensual romance, and everything you would expect from this beloved adaptation of Jane Austen’s most famous novel.
What’s your favorite Austen adaptation? Let us know at cinemaontappodcast@gmail.com
It’s our final week of New Year’s Resolutions, and it’s a doozy! This week, we’re talking about Shane and Groundhog Day.
A classic Western, and a beloved comedy. These two may not have much in common, but it made for great conversation about Brandon deWilde’s Oscar nomination, Bill Murray’s dramatic chops, other great Westerns and time loop movies, and more.
Plus, our thoughts on the Oscar nominations!
What’s your New Year’s Resolution? Let us know at cinemaontappodcast@gmail.com
After a marathon recording session discussing our Top 10 Films of 2025, we’re back to our New Year’s Resolutions! This week, Scott brought It’s A Wonderful Life, and Christian brought Tootsie.
Both of these films are blindspots for both hosts. Yes, somehow, we hadn’t seen It’s A Wonderful Life! So, stay tuned to see if we venerate these sacred cows or if we get our hot take hats on.
Are you amazed we hadn’t seen these movies before? Let us know at cinemaontappodcast@gmail.com
We finally have some overlapping films on our list, so surely things will go faster right? Right?
When you get the four of us going, it’s hard to stop. But, the movies at the top of our lists merited conversation. Join us as we continue to discuss our favorite films of 2025, covering our #5 through our #1. Plus, we get Producer Lalo’s Top 5 of the year!
