Many people feel like they are addicted to sugar or certain foods. In this episode, Leslie shares her personal journey of believing she was a food and sugar addict and how that belief shaped her eating habits, behaviors, and identity for years. Because of her science background, the research around dopamine, habits, and reward pathways made the addiction model feel very convincing. Over time, however, Leslie began noticing something deeper. The belief that she was addicted to sugar was actually intensifying the struggle. When foods are labeled as "dangerous," "forbidden," or "trigger foods," the brain creates fear, urgency, and scarcity, which can lead to the exact overeating patterns people are trying to avoid. Leslie explains how the meaning we attach to food can influence our physiology, emotions, and behavior. When those beliefs shift, food loses its emotional charge and becomes neutral again. This shift can transform a chaotic relationship with food into one that feels calm, balanced, and sustainable. "Once I stopped believing I was a food addict, food stopped having power over me."— Leslie Thornton What You'll Learn in This Episode: 0:00 – Why many people believe they are addicted to sugar or food 1:19 – How identifying as a food addict initially helped Leslie control her eating 2:50 – The science behind food cravings and reward pathways 3:26 – How Leslie eventually shifted beyond the food addiction belief 5:22 – Why the beliefs that helped you before may stop working later 7:38 – Feeling frustrated watching others eat freely without gaining weight 9:34 – The milkshake study showing how belief changes physiology 11:13 – How identifying as a food addict can reinforce overeating patterns 12:25 – Why restrictive dieting often leads to overeating later in the day 13:27 – How labeling foods as "trigger foods" increases cravings 14:19 – What happens when you remove food rules and allow all foods 15:39 – How identity influences behavior around food 17:09 – The moment Leslie realized she simply wanted peace with food 19:19 – Why labels and diagnoses can sometimes keep people stuck 23:01 – Questioning the belief that you cannot have a normal relationship with food 24:31 – The mindset shift that helped Leslie move beyond the addiction identity 27:45 – Why changing the meaning attached to food changes behavior 30:27 – The "forbidden fruit effect" and why restriction backfires 31:32 – What a neutral relationship with food actually looks like 32:58 – The powerful question: What if the problem was never the food? What if your struggles with food and weight have less to do with discipline and more to do with unresolved family dynamics? In this deeply personal episode, Leslie opens up about a time when she nearly estranged herself from her own family and the painful realization that trying to change them was actually keeping her stuck. She reveals how unresolved emotions tied to family relationships can quietly fuel stress, triggers, and unhealthy patterns with food. Leslie explains how the unconscious mind is wired for survival and how family rejection real or perceived can activate a deep nervous system response. When those emotions aren't processed, many people try to cope by controlling food, dieting obsessively, or using food as emotional relief. What looks like a food problem is often a deeper emotional response to fear, abandonment, or the need for approval. Most importantly, she shares the transformational shift that happens when you take radical ownership of your triggers and stop blaming others for how you feel. By healing family wounds, creating healthy boundaries, and developing compassion for both yourself and others, you unlock true peace not only in your relationships, but in your relationship with food, body, and weight. What if your obsession with food isn't about food at all? In this powerful episode, Leslie dismantles one of the biggest myths in weight loss that you simply lack discipline. She explains why constantly thinking about food, battling late-night cravings, and feeling out of control around your body isn't a willpower problem… it's a nervous system problem. Leslie walks high-achieving women through the real root of food obsession: unprocessed emotional pressure, fear, perfectionism, and what she calls "good girl energy." When stress builds with nowhere to go, your nervous system looks for relief and food becomes the fastest regulator. Whether it shows up as overeating or over-controlling, both patterns stem from the same dysregulation beneath the surface. Most importantly, she reveals how triggers, core wounds, and old emotional imprints from childhood drive today's cravings. The solution isn't dieting harder it's healing deeper. When you learn to process emotions safely, regulate your nervous system, and take radical ownership of your triggers, food quiets naturally. Confidence stops being something you chase through weight loss and becomes something you embody from within. "Your obsession with food is not about food. It's your nervous system asking for relief from fear, pressure, and unprocessed emotion." — Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 00:00 – Why your food obsession isn't actually about food 02:48 – How food struggles are a nervous system stress response 04:29 – Why chasing the "right" diet keeps you overwhelmed and stuck 08:14 – Why dieting harder is not the solution 11:43 – The hidden pressure of perfectionism and "good girl energy" 12:36 – How stress gets stored in the body and turns into cravings 15:01 – Why food becomes your most accessible emotional regulator 16:52 – What triggers really are and how they activate overeating 20:07 – Understanding your core wound (formed ages 0–10) 22:20 – Why certain comments hit so deeply (and others don't) 23:32 – The survival wiring behind fear of rejection and weight gain 25:21 – How to take radical ownership of your triggers 27:47 – Why managing food won't work without healing underneath 31:20 – Turning triggers into personal power 34:25 – The biggest lie about confidence and losing weight 37:21 – Why it's not your partner's job to fix your triggers 41:00 – The real solution: healing your nervous system 42:17 – How clearing core wounds naturally quiets cravings 45:17 – Why mastering emotions is the missing link to lasting freedom 46:49 – Becoming the CEO of your health and making rules that work for you Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? Have you ever felt like food is always on your mind like a constant background tab running no matter what you're doing? In this episode, Leslie opens up about her own decades-long experience with "food noise" and what it really felt like inside. From packing excessive snacks out of fear of being hungry, to scale panic spirals, to social anxiety around restaurants and events, she shares the raw truth about how exhausting and all-consuming food obsession can become. Leslie explains why dieting temporarily quiets the noise but never actually solves it. She reveals how food noise isn't about lack of willpower or discipline, but about nervous system dysregulation, perfectionism, identity, and a deep search for internal peace. The constant monitoring, restriction, and "all-or-nothing" control are not health they're survival patterns disguised as responsibility. Most importantly, she shares what exists on the other side of food noise: mental freedom, calm, presence, and the ability to fully live your life without waiting to lose weight first. This episode is both a wake-up call and an invitation to stop pushing the problem down and finally resolve what's underneath it so you can evolve into the life you're meant to live. "You're trying to fix a feeling by fixing your body. But losing weight does not stop the food noise." — Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 00:23 – What food noise actually feels like in everyday life 01:52 – How the scale can trigger panic and self-sabotage 03:02 – The social impact of food obsession and restaurant anxiety 05:01 – What "food noise" really means (and why dieting doesn't solve it) 07:40 – Why perfection temporarily quiets the noise but creates a bigger crash 09:11 – Why dieting is a temporary solution, not a root fix 14:17 – How identifying as a "food addict" reinforces the pattern 18:04 – The true definition of food noise: mental preoccupation and hypervigilance 20:11 – How restriction, stress, and survival wiring increase food thoughts 21:47 – Why both overeating and over-controlling come from the same dysregulated system 24:22 – The real driver underneath food obsession: trying to fix a feeling 25:58 – Why losing weight does not eliminate food noise 28:10 – The truth about BMI and health (Health at Every Size study) 31:17 – Why waiting to lose weight before living your life keeps you stuck 32:11 – What life actually looks like without food noise 36:15 – The "page turning" identity shift that ends the struggle Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? Are you putting your life on hold until you lose weight? Avoiding photos, canceling plans, dreading dressing rooms, and telling yourself you'll finally feel confident "when the weight comes off"? In this episode, Leslie dives into the quiet pain so many women carry the shame, the closet spirals, the social event anxiety and why waiting to feel good in your body is costing you precious years of your life. Leslie vulnerably shares her own experience of rapid weight gain, intense body shame, dressing room trauma, and believing weight loss was the only path to confidence. She explains why most women have it backwards: trying to change their body first in order to feel confident, when in reality, confidence and self-relationship must come first for lasting weight loss to happen. The real transformation begins when you stop punishing yourself, stop hiding, and rebuild your relationship with your body from the inside out. When shame quiets down and safety replaces self-criticism, you stop opting out of your life and ironically, that's when sustainable body changes become possible. "Stop putting your life on hold until you lose weight. Don't lose weight first feel good first. That's the order that actually creates lasting change." — Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 00:56 – Why you don't have to lose weight to feel confident in your clothes 02:05 – The hidden cost of hating your body for years 04:21 – The quiet pain of getting dressed and dressing room shame 06:05 – Why shame not laziness keeps you canceling plans 11:26 – The "social event spiral" and how it sabotages your confidence 16:58 – How putting your life on hold is stealing your time 19:47 – Why weight struggles are not a food or willpower problem 21:06 – Why confidence must come before weight loss 21:24 – We have it backwards: start with state, not strategy 24:30 – What life feels like when you truly love your body now 30:46 – Rebuilding a relationship with your body instead of living in your head 33:05 – Why mastering the internal changes everything externally 35:10 – How safety replaces shame and that's when the body changes Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? Feeling drained by constant dieting, food rules, and starting over only to wonder why consistency feels impossible? In this episode, Leslie reveals the real reason people struggle to stay consistent with food, weight, and habits, and it has nothing to do with discipline or willpower. She explains how food obsession, guilt, and self-blame are symptoms of something deeper that most approaches completely miss. Leslie breaks down why even knowing exactly what to do doesn't lead to lasting change when your energy is depleted. Life stress, emotional baggage, resentment, and unresolved challenges quietly drain your capacity to follow through, making weight loss feel heavy and exhausting. She shares why this isn't a personal failure, but a human response and how trying harder only reinforces the cycle. The key shift, Leslie explains, is prioritizing energy over strategy. When emotional patterns quiet down and your nervous system feels supported, consistency happens naturally. This episode offers a powerful reframe and a compassionate path forward for anyone ready to stop fighting food and start creating ease, peace, and lasting freedom. "If you're asking why you can't stay consistent, ask a better question: why is my energy not good right now? When energy shifts, consistency takes care of itself." — Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 00:02 – Why food and weight obsession is mentally exhausting and unsustainable 02:42 – The real reason consistency feels impossible (it's not discipline) 03:40 – How emotional baggage like guilt, shame, and resentment drains energy 04:22 – Why inconsistency has nothing to do with capability or failure 05:45 – How years of dieting create automatic, unconscious habits 06:22 – The three internal drivers behind food noise and overeating 07:49 – Why habits change faster when energy and pleasure are involved 08:27 – How joy and support make weight loss feel easier 09:37 – Why focusing on energy prevents unnecessary weight gain during hard times 09:48 – The better question to ask instead of "Why can't I stay consistent?" 10:26 – Why food is never the real problem 11:35 – How rising confidence and energy naturally change food choices 14:32 – Why prioritizing energy over strategy makes consistency automatic 15:13 – Why food noise is a nervous system pattern, not a discipline issue Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? Feeling trapped in a painful cycle of restriction, control, and weight regain only to wonder why nothing ever truly sticks? In this episode, Leslie reveals why even the most disciplined approaches to food often backfire, leading to shame, food noise, and dramatic rebound weight gain. She shares her own experience of extreme restriction, long-term "success," and the devastating kickback that followed. Leslie explains why strategies like strict dieting, food addiction labels, or external controls can feel logical but often deepen distrust with food and yourself. She breaks down why 95% of people regain weight after restriction and why willpower, perfection, and cutting foods out are not the missing pieces. Instead, she points to what's really driving overeating beneath the surface. The breakthrough comes from understanding and healing the three internal food drivers that actually run the show: the mind spiral, emotional coping, and self-abandonment. By shifting the focus inward calming food noise, learning emotional regulation, and stopping self-betrayal you can finally create a peaceful, sustainable relationship with food and your body without tracking, restriction, or fear. "This is not a food problem or a self-control problem. It's an internal problem and when you start there, everything on the outside begins to shift." — Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 01:48 – Why 95% of people regain weight after restriction and exercise 02:10 – The three internal food drivers that keep you stuck 07:28 – Why extreme food rules and perfection create massive rebound weight gain 10:42 – How restriction trains your brain not to trust you 11:02 – The "beach ball" effect: why pushing harder always leads to kickback 16:11 – Internal Driver #1: The mind spiral (food noise & all-or-nothing thinking) 17:49 – How hypnosis helps calm overthinking and obsessive food thoughts 18:11 – Internal Driver #2: Emotional eating as a stress-release valve 19:22 – Why high performers struggle most with emotional regulation 21:40 – How unresolved emotions fuel compulsive eating 23:07 – Internal Driver #3: Self-abandonment and people-pleasing 24:08 – Why feeling unseen, depleted, or resentful leads to overeating 26:14 – Why external solutions (even surgery) can't fix internal patterns Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? Feeling exhausted from constantly tracking your food, starting over every Monday, and still wondering why nothing sticks long-term? In this episode, Leslie breaks down why food tracking often becomes a false sense of control rather than a path to freedom. She explains how tracking can temporarily soothe anxiety around food while quietly reinforcing distrust, perfectionism, and the all-or-nothing cycle that keeps so many women stuck. Leslie challenges the belief that more discipline, more data, or tighter control will finally fix food struggles. She shares her own story of extreme dieting, weight regain, and the emotional toll of trying to be "perfect," revealing why information and willpower alone never lead to permanent change. Instead, she highlights how tracking often acts as a band-aid masking deeper nervous system and emotional patterns that drive overeating. The real solution, Leslie explains, is learning to regulate your internal world rather than micromanaging food. By shifting focus from control to self-trust, and from external rules to internal alignment, you can quiet food noise, feel calm around eating, and finally experience consistency without restriction. This episode offers clarity, relief, and a new way forward for anyone ready to stop managing food forever and start living freely. "Tracking can feel like control, but when it's coming from panic or fear, it's actually teaching your body not to trust you. Real freedom comes when you no longer need to manage food to feel safe." — Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 01:01 – Why tracking food creates a dopamine-driven illusion of control 04:32 – How tracking becomes a security blanket instead of a long-term solution 05:16 – The real reason tracking fails: lack of trust with food and yourself 06:20 – How all-or-nothing eating patterns keep food drama alive 06:52 – What "normal eaters" do differently around food 07:28 – Leslie's personal journey through restriction, perfection, and rebound weight gain 09:25 – Why doing everything "right" still leads to weight regain 10:45 – The internal drivers that actually cause overeating 11:14 – What permanent weight loss looks like without tracking or dieting 12:46 – How focusing on internal regulation quiets food noise 14:21 – Staying calm, confident, and consistent around food even during stress Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? Feeling frustrated that no matter how strictly you follow your diet, the weight just isn't coming off? You eat the right foods, follow the rules, and even stick to strategies that worked in the past, but still, the scale doesn't budge. It's not your diet, your body, or your willpower that's holding you back; it's your energy. When your energetic state is low, restriction and discipline alone won't work. Most of us were never taught how to master our daily energy, and without that, no plan sticks. This episode dives into why mastering your energetic state is the missing key to effortless weight loss, consistent healthy habits, and long-term transformation. By shifting your focus to your state first, then your story, and finally your strategy, you can finally experience food freedom and sustainable results without obsession, restriction, or stress. "All you have to do is identify whether you've ever learned how to master your energetic state, change your story, and have the tools to sustain it. Once you do that, the strategy becomes automatic." – Leslie M Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 00:00 – The bold truth: It's not your diet, it's your energy problem 01:15 – Why low energy prevents sustainable weight loss 03:07 – How mastering your energetic state changes everything 05:05 – Tony Robbins' "Three S's" approach: Strategy, Story, and State 07:18 – Why starting with strategy alone doesn't work 09:49 – How your story and beliefs influence your results 11:00 – The connection between positive state and empowerment 13:23 – Client success story: Angela's 10-pound weight loss and clearing years of trauma 15:00 – How mastering your state makes food and exercise natural and effortless 16:05 – What happens on a Food Freedom call: Assessing state, story, and strategy 17:57 – The simple sequence for lasting weight loss: State → Story → Strategy Valuable Resources: Join my next LIVE masterclass Join the 8-week Fastrack to Food Freedom Program -Guaranteed mental and emotional freedom from food  Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? Getting "back on track" with food and weight can feel exhausting especially when you know what to do, but can't seem to stay consistent. The food noise is loud, self-criticism creeps in, and the harder you try, the worse you feel. For many women, this cycle repeats again and again, leaving them frustrated and disconnected from themselves. In this episode, Leslie explains why lasting change doesn't come from forcing yourself back into a plan, but from examining who you are being. She shares how identity, emotional safety, self-relationship, and fear-based patterns silently shape eating behaviors, weight struggles, and self-trust. When you stay stuck in perfectionism, isolation, people-pleasing, or avoidance, getting back on track becomes impossible no matter how much willpower you use. You'll hear Leslie's personal journey through food addiction, bingeing, weight gain, and emotional rock bottom and how she discovered that food was never the real problem. Through emotional work, hypnosis, and identity shifts, she learned that permanent change begins when you stop fighting yourself and start creating an unconditionally supportive relationship with who you are becoming. When that shifts, food, weight, and consistency naturally follow. "Who you are being determines how you eat, how you feel, and whether lasting change is even possible. You don't get back on track by trying harder you get back on track by becoming someone new." – Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 00:05 – Why asking "Who are you being?" is the key to permanent change 01:11 – How identity directly impacts food noise, weight struggles, and self-trust 02:18 – Reflecting on past success: who you were being when things felt easy 03:44 – Why passion, obsession, and mission often fade and what that means 04:10 – Why desperation and forcing yourself back on track doesn't work 05:45 – How knowing what to do is different from being able to do it 06:48 – Signs that you're being asked to evolve instead of repeating the past 07:27 – Discovering that food addiction and food drama are not permanent 08:35 – Letting go of the belief that you'll always struggle with food 09:51 – A powerful moment that challenged the identity of being "addicted." 10:36 – The painful in-between phase: binging, weight gain, and confusion 11:45 – Why rock-bottom moments often lead to the biggest breakthroughs 13:27 – Uncovering harsh self-talk and how it fuels bingeing and shame 15:46 – Realizing the problem isn't food it's the relationship with yourself 16:44 – How conditional self-love keeps you stuck in perfectionism 17:53 – Why healing emotionally changes food, weight, and relationships 18:30 – How hypnosis supports rebuilding safety and self-trust 19:13 – Taking inventory of how you're being during stressful seasons 20:15 – Fear-based ways of being that block freedom and peace with food 22:14 – Why isolation, people-pleasing, and overthinking don't work 24:59 – Asking better questions to identify what's really keeping you stuck 26:48 – How awareness creates change only when followed by action 28:27 – Doing the opposite of the pattern that keeps you in the ditch 29:59 – Why action is required to meet the universe halfway 31:55 – The importance of being mission-driven, passionate, and supported 34:27 – How life transitions affect food and weight more than willpower 36:15 – Choosing hard conversations over a lifetime of feeling bad 38:18 – Why food and weight are symptoms, not the root problem 40:00 – Expecting success and believing you're meant to feel good 41:02 – Identifying the life area that's asking for your attention 42:55 – Final invitation: pick up your mat and take action todayValuable Resources: Join my next LIVE masterclass Join the 8-week Fastrack to Food Freedom Program -Guaranteed mental and emotional freedom from food  Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? Why does comparison sneak in the moment you scroll, look around, or notice someone else's success? Why does jealousy feel uncomfortable, shameful, or like proof that you're behind? And why does it seem to hit hardest around food, body, confidence, and the life you wish you were living? Most people try to shut the comparison down, telling themselves they should just be more grateful or confident already. But pushing it away only deepens the frustration, because comparison isn't the real problem—it's a signal you don't know how to read yet. Appearances lie, social media edits reality, and without a stable sense of identity, it's easy to believe everyone else has figured it out. That belief quietly keeps you stuck, chasing quick fixes instead of lasting change. In this episode, you'll learn how to stop comparing yourself with others by understanding what jealousy is actually trying to show you. You'll discover how identity—not willpower or shortcuts—is the foundation of permanent freedom with food, body, and self-trust. Through coaching, Hypnosis, and the HEAL Method, you'll see how real transformation comes from rewiring who you believe yourself to be. When your identity shifts, comparison loses its grip—and you begin creating a life by your own design. Food and weight quietly become the place where everything gets blamed—stress, loneliness, exhaustion, and disappointment. During the holidays especially, it can feel like if your body would just change, your life would finally feel lighter. The problem is, weight becomes the focus while happiness slowly disappears. Obsession creates a loop of stress, shame, and control that keeps food noise alive and well. Dieting from anxiety, resentment, or self-judgment only fuels cortisol, making weight loss feel harder the more you try. Even "healthy" habits can mask deep self-criticism, turning wellness into another way to prove you're not enough. Over time, the pursuit of control replaces the real desire—to feel alive, free, and at peace in your own body. This episode is a loving wake-up call to end food noise naturally by shifting the focus from weight to emotional and spiritual well-being. Leslie explains why happiness isn't the reward after weight loss—it's the requirement for it. Through personal stories, client experiences, and universal law perspectives, you'll see how acceptance, unconscious work, and repetition create lasting change. When you stop fighting yourself and start choosing joy, the noise fades, control loosens, and freedom becomes possible. "Weight loss is easy when you're happy. Weight loss is impossible when you're miserable. If you're depressed, if you're anxious, if you're angry, if you're resentful. If you have other stress going on. If you have other things in your life that aren't being handled, stop trying to make that what's going to happen, it doesn't happen from that energy. Got to get yourself happy first." - Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 01:26 - Emotional reflections on how everything is unconsciously blamed on weight, especially during the holidays 04:30 - Challenging the belief that weight is life's main problem and the impact of weight obsession 08:15 - Sharing personal experiences and client stories and making sense of the real cost of obsession  13:55 - The goal is to feel  alive over control 22:56 - Stress, cortisol, the dieting loop, the shame and motivation myths  32:19 - Happiness and how it relates to weight loss  35:15 - Revealing how health-consciousness can mask underlying shame and self-judgment and the need for deeper questions  39:13 - Sharing of spiritual and universal law perspectives on acceptance, shame, and transformation 43:48 - Describes the fun and fulfillment that come after overcoming food and weight obsession 45:04 - Taking the leap of faith  46:16 - The importance of unconscious work and repetition,  the true cost of obsession 48:38 - Spiritual awakening and the call for change  Valuable Resources: Join my next LIVE masterclass Join the 8-week Fastrack to Food Freedom Program -Guaranteed mental and emotional freedom from food  Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? Confidence can feel incredibly hard, even when you're successful, disciplined, and doing "all the right things." Food still feels charged, your body feels unsafe, and self-trust remains just out of reach. Trying harder only seems to make everything feel worse instead of better.High-achieving women are taught that confidence comes from control, discipline, and perfection, so they keep fighting cravings, emotions, and exhaustion. But the more you resist, the louder the struggle becomes, because your nervous system stays in survival mode. Chronic stress, limiting beliefs, and black-and-white thinking quietly shape your reality, keeping you stuck in cycles that feel personal—but aren't. This is why weight loss, confidence, and peace with food can feel impossibly hard, no matter how much willpower you have. In this episode, you'll discover how universal laws, the nervous system, and the unconscious mind explain why confidence really feels so difficult—and how to change it. You'll learn why true confidence doesn't come from discipline or perfection, but from emotional mastery, safety, and identity-level shifts. Through hypnosis, NLP, and understanding laws like belief, vibration, and non-resistance, you can reprogram the inner blueprint that's been running the show. When that changes, confidence, food freedom, and self-trust stop being something you chase—and start becoming who you are. "Confidence comes from emotional mastery. It comes from understanding yourself. Self-Mastery: it comes from nervous system safety and knowing how to get your nervous system to feel safe more of the time. It comes from the belief in who you're becoming and choosing to become someone new. And knowing that you don't have to perform perfection." - Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 01:25 - How universal laws relates to why high-achieving women struggle with food and sharing a client's experience applying universal laws to her food relationship  05:01 - Levels of spirituality in relation to food, moving from chaos to intuitive, peaceful eating 08:41- How life changes prompt shifts in food and body relationships, especially for women 10:58 - Explaining how true confidence comes from nervous system safety, not willpower or discipline 12:32 - How limiting beliefs and chronic stress keep women stuck and away from their true purpose 17:31 - Breaking down how the law of vibration affects food relationships and results and describing how shifting vibration through Hypnosis leads to feeling safe and present around food 19:32 - The law of cause and effect and how thoughts cause behaviors, and how Hypnosis addresses root causes, not just actions 21:05 - Law of belief and law of non-resistance and how it shapes reality  22:16 - Discussing the law of assumption and identity change with Hypnosis and how it leads to lasting change 23:34 - Creating a new blueprint to achieve true alignment  24:59 - Explaining how confidence comes from self-mastery and spiritual evolution, not weight loss 26:02 - Invitation to join the Fast Track to Freedom program for lasting change Valuable Resources: Join my next LIVE masterclass Join the 8-week Fastrack to Food Freedom Program -Guaranteed mental and emotional freedom from food  Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? Food can feel unbearably loud in your head, even when you're not physically hungry. Cravings, binge urges, and constant thoughts about weight keep showing up no matter how many plans you follow. It can feel like you're stuck in a battle you should be able to win by now. Food noise keeps you trapped on a merry-go-round of "good days" and "bad days," guilt and shame, control and collapse. Diets promise silence but only turn up the volume, driving stress higher and feeding a cortisol–dopamine loop that never truly resolves. Over time, you start believing you're broken, addicted, or lacking discipline, when the real issue was never food at all. This cycle drains your energy, confidence, and trust in yourself, making permanent weight loss feel impossible. In this masterclass episode, Leslie breaks down what food noise really is and why it can't be solved with more rules or willpower. You'll learn how stress, emotional coping, and unaddressed cortisol addiction are at the root of cravings and binge patterns. Through real stories, client breakthroughs, and the HEAL Method, you'll see how to step off the loop by addressing the cause—not the symptom. When food stops being the solution to stress, the noise quiets, weight loss becomes effortless, and freedom finally feels real. Have you ever wondered why traditional weight loss methods, like restrictive diets, so often fail to bring long-term results? Why do so many of us struggle with emotional eating, self-sabotage, and reconnecting with our bodies despite trying every diet under the sun? And most importantly—how do you truly know when it's time to pivot toward a more permanent, transformative approach to weight loss? The truth is, the problem goes far beyond what you're eating or how much you're exercising. Years—sometimes decades—of emotional programming, societal expectations, and unhealthy relationships with food can sabotage even your best efforts. Restrictive diets may shed pounds temporarily, but the underlying issues remain untouched, leading to cycles of shame, guilt, and frustration. The deeper issue lies within—our inability to address old wounds, trust our intuition, and break free from the emotional chains holding us back from genuine self-love and empowerment. In this episode, Leslie shares not only her own journey but also the inspiring stories of her clients who have achieved lasting transformation through coaching and self-awareness. She highlights how discovering clarity, following your intuition, and taking empowered actions can pave the way for a healthier and more authentic relationship with food and yourself. If you're ready to leave the restrictions behind and embrace a holistic approach to weight loss, it may just be time to take that first step toward healing from within. "What is the key that's going to turn the entire thing in a place that you have not been able to see? Because awareness alone is not enough to heal this. You have to take action outside of your comfort zone. You have to do something a whole different way, and it can be fun and exciting to get that because then there's just so much freedom right on the other side." - Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 01:32 - Family programming, emotional roots of food struggles, and readiness for transformational work 06:00 - Sharing client stories about timing, consciousness, and being ready for higher-level change 06:54 - Describing the importance of clarity, intention, and following intuition  08:51 - Leslie sharing her own journey with mentors and the impact on her and her clients' results. 10:42 - Promoting a new, empowered approach to weight loss that doesn't rely on restriction  13:29 - Sharing stories of clients and friends who transformed their relationships through coaching 19:14 - Why restrictive diets don't work long-term and the importance of self-love and empowerment 22:57 -  Why awareness alone  isn't enough and how to move beyond old programming  24:01 - Outlining the process of seeing and healing old wounds to reach peace and stability 27:29 - Describing the journey to self-authenticity and the importance of ongoing coaching 32:26 - Sharing a story about coaching a friend and the necessity of being open to guidance 34:41 - Explaining how coaching helps manage stress, improve relationships, and foster personal growth 38:11 - How to know when previous methods (like diets) are no longer aligned, taking action and seeking support Valuable Resources: Join my next LIVE masterclass Join the 8-week Fastrack to Food Freedom Program -Guaranteed mental and emotional freedom from food  Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? What if the eating issues we keep trying to "fix" on the surface are actually symptoms of something much deeper? What if the real problem isn't the food at all, but the unresolved emotions we've been carrying around for years? And what if ignoring those emotions is quietly harming our health in ways we don't even realize? When we suppress negative emotions, we don't just bury feelings—we bury signals from our body screaming that something is wrong. Over time, that emotional backlog begins to show up as stress, inflammation, chronic symptoms, and diseases we mistakenly try to treat in isolation. And because we're conditioned to push through instead of pause, we keep reaching for quick fixes that never address the root. The result is a cycle of physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion that chips away at our wellbeing. Healing begins when we finally learn to feel what we've spent years avoiding. By reconnecting with our emotions, our bodies, and the stories behind our food patterns, we unlock a path back to balance. With the right tools and a willingness to sit with discomfort, transformation becomes not only possible but inevitable. And as we heal ourselves, we also break generational cycles and create space for a healthier, more aligned life. "When you start feeling your feelings, that's when it becomes really natural to be your authentic self." - Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 02:39 - How holding negative emotions correlate to having diseases and how we cure it wrongly 14:00 - Researches proving how ignoring trauma and negative emotions lead to diseases 17:06 - Guide to feeling your emotions 23:40 - What good comes out of feeling your feelings 39:03 - How to align back yourself with your body(tools to help you connect back with your body and reprogram your mind) 43:45 - Why ignoring trauma and those food and weight issues is taking a toll on your overall being as Leslie recounts her own journey 47:15 - Change generational trauma and transform your life Valuable Resources: Join my next LIVE masterclass Join the 8-week Fastrack to Food Freedom Program -Guaranteed mental and emotional freedom from food  Connect With Leslie Thornton: Book A Clarity Call Website Facebook LinkedIn Email: Leslie@hpwl.co If you enjoy the podcast, Would you please consider leaving a quick review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes in under 60 seconds? I was diagnosed with a rare cancer in 2019, Triple Negative Breast Cancer, at the age of 34. Your podcast resonates with me so much. There is no known cause for TNBC. Although I strongly believed that years of stress had built up and poisoned my own body. I try now to live my best life and to choose happiness. And I feel the best I have in years. (Just need to shake the extra weight I put on during chemo).
