Liam Gallagher had a big weekend, celebrating his birthday by playing to 96,000 people at Wembley ahead of the Anthony Joshua fight before flying out to Malta for his final solo gig. We discuss all that plus our night out with Blossoms - who have just launched their excellent fifth album - and the prospects of them supporting Oasis next summer!
We round up the latest Oasis & Gallagher brother news - from football kits and weekenders in Malta to ticket ballots - and rewind to our interview with Glasvegas to find out what it’s like to support Oasis on a huge tour!
After the agony (wrestling with Ticketmaster, Gigs and Tours and See Tickets loading pages, websites crashing, bot accusations and more) came the ecstasy of securing Oasis reunion show tickets! That was good news for the future of this podcast… Pete & Rich reflect on the stress of Saturday and demand change to end the outrage of ‘dynamic pricing’
It's our 100th episode of the Boys in the Band Podcast! And after diving into 00s nostalgia we're taking a slight pivot to focus on the band that started it all for us; our love of music and bands, the band who we're sure so many of you love, and the band who definitely (no maybe about it) inspired so many of the bands we've had on this podcast previously and that whole guitar scene of the 00s which followed Britpop. Oasis are back. We're going to talk to people around the band. Musicians inspired by them. And we're even going to try to figure out what should be on the set list for these epic reunion shows. Listen, subscribe and get involved!
Instant reaction after Razorlight SMASHED IT at Hammersmith Apollo on the final night of their tour. Awesome gig, so much energy (eventually!) down the front and great to see such a huge reception to hits old and new. Here’s Pete & Rich’s post-gig verdict!
This week on The Boys in the Band Podcast we're delighted to be joined by Dan Haggis, drummer in The Wombats.Dan talks about the transformative impact of their dance floor fillers like 'Let's Dance To Joy Division', the story of an evolving sound which runs through each of their albums - and how they're popularity and passion for the band still endures 20 years after getting together. You can actually pick up a special 15th anniversary reissue of their debut album A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation - it's the first time you can get it on vinyl as well. So go and check that out! This week on The Boys in the Band Podcast we're delighted to be joined by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace the filmmakers behind the fantastic new 00s indie film Meet Me In The Bathroom. Based on the renowned, respected book by Lizzy Goodman of the same name, they have pulled together stunning archive footage from the New York scene, giving incredible insights into bands such as The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Rapture, Interpol, LCD Soundsystem, Moldy Peaches and more. From energetic, chaotic live shows to capturing those artists at their most vulnerable and natural back stage or on the tour bus, it is a must-watch movie, which you can see in UK cinemas or stream on Amazon Video, Apple TV and Microsoft.  Share your memories of the scene with us: Twitter: @TheBITBpod Instagram: @boysinthebandpod Facebook: The Boys In The Band Podcast Or drop us an Email - boysinthebandpod@gmail.com Written, presented and produced by Peter Smith and Richard Gallagher Pod thumbnail design by Daniel Curtin *Recorded on 30 March 2023*

Our series of bonus podcasts continues with Mark Greaney from JJ72 picking his favourite album of the 00s. He goes with () by Sigur Ros - an album name hard to pronounce! Reflecting on the album, Mark discusses the power of music to transport us back to moments in time and we also debate the importance of understandable lyrics in music, with this LP sung in 'Hopelandic', a made up language.   Sigur Ros of course had success with Hoppípolla from their follow-up album Takk... being used in a series of adverts and TV montages. While JJ72 songs were never used in quite that way, Mark tells us a funny story about a clip of Oxygen appearing on Sky Sports!     JJ72 fan? This week on The Boys in the Band Podcast we're delighted to be joined by Mark Greaney, formerly the frontman of JJ72. The band burst out of Dublin at the start of 2000 and were playing big festival shows and supporting huge acts when they were only just turning 20. Mark reflects on that boom and how they capitalised on the buzz around the band. But within two years Mark says the music scene had changed dramatically. Why? Because of The Libertines, he says. Mark discusses how the sudden shift from bands formed in the late 90s to ones formed in the early years of the 00s changed the landscape. We discuss how JJ72's two albums were put together, including some of their biggest hits such as Oxygen, and Mark - who works at BIMM Institute Dublin and has taught the likes of Fontaines DC - reveals potential plans for the previously unreleased third album!  JJ72 fan?
