A lot of friends feel comfortable talking about race issues, gender equality, fighting for the LGBTQ+ community and so many other "taboo" topics, yet body issues are still something so many feel uncomfortable discussing. Everyone, regardless of size, struggles with insecurities so why does this still remain a topic people tip-toe around? This episode I'm so excited to bring on my best friend, a fat ally and the creator of my cover art, Trisha Bhavnani. We touch on how body conversations don't have to be intimidating, recognizing everyone has body issues, how it's important to surround yourself with uplifting friends and how to be a fat ally. Trisha and I have always been comfortable talking about anything with each other and this episode's conversation is no different. Because these conversations between different sized, or even similar sized friends don't have to be awkward!Check out Trisha on Instagram at @trishabhavNo matter what size you're at or what thoughts you have, join the conversation on Instagram at @fatfriendpodcast
The Secrets Of Fat Sex

The Secrets Of Fat Sex

2020-06-2340:421

I have a secret for you... fat people love sex and aren’t desperate for attention. Wild, right?! This episode I’m diving into all things fat sexuality! I touch on the toxic fetishization of fat bodies, why we have a complicated relationship with sex, how to optimize sex, and how can we all become more confident in the bedroom regardless of our size. I once again overshare with stories about how I re-broke a man's balls and how a man orgasmed from penetrating my thigh fat. All sex is going to be a little weird and it's time we get more comfortable with that. No matter what size you're at or what thoughts you have, join the conversation on Instagram at @fatfriendpodcast
The F Word: Fat

The F Word: Fat

2020-06-1542:24

Fat, a word that makes everyone cringe. A word that when neutrally used people automatically say "no you're not fat, you're beautiful". A word that is overly abused in "I feel fat" or "Do I look fat in this?" like phrases. Yet, a word that so many are boldly reclaiming! This episode I dive into when in history being fat started to become so negative, society's obsession with the it, and how some alternative terms can be more harmful than good. Whether you're a thin ally, a fat cutie yourself, or struggling to identify with either, listen in to learn how we all can take part in destigmatizing the word. Our society needs to do more than just reclaim this one descriptor, but it could be a great stepping stone. To learn more about how fatphobia began rooted in racism, check out the book "Fearing The Black Body" by Sabrina Strings. No matter what size you're at or what thoughts you have, join the conversation on Instagram at @fatfriendpodcast
When flipping through any wedding magazine, it will mostly be targeting a very specific group of people: thin, white, heterosexual and western. On a day that’s supposed to be all about our unique selves, why are we still fed cookie cutter ideals? Tia Nash, a wedding photographer and LGBTQ educator, joins me to talk about why the wedding industry is still lacking in diversity. We touch on what professionals should be doing to make the industry more inclusive, how childhood wedding dreams affect us as adults, the importance of choosing the right vendors and the struggles that plus size and LBTQ+ brides/grooms may face. Check out Tia on Instagram at @tianashNo matter what size you're at or what thoughts you have, join the conversation on Instagram at @fatfriendpodcast
Ah body positivity... the term everyone is quick to hashtag. Joining me to completely break down the body positivity movement and everything you thought you knew about it is Raffela Mancuso, a mental illness advocate and a body positivity disruptor. We touch on body positivity vs body neutrality, the true intent behind the movement, why it doesn't have to be intimidating, passing the mic to more marginalized bodies and how those with thin-privilege fit into the movement. Body topics can always be uncomfortable, but this is one you definitely need to strap in for! Follow my new BFF Raffela Mancuso on Instagram at @raffela_mancusoNo matter what size you're at or what thoughts you have, join the conversation on Instagram at @fatfriendpodcast.

Do you find sustainable fashion unattainable? Do you often see brands featuring plus models but then not carrying that size? Are these smaller plus bodies more palatable for the average person? Have you ever had a eating disorder? Will we ever break away from diet culture?Joining me this episode is Sydney Grace, a plus-size influencer, sustainable fashion queen, and diet culture recovery activist.  Listen in as we touch on all these topics and rant about how we're tired of fashion brands "fat-baiting" us, which is by far my new favorite term.Check out Sydney on Instagram at @ohhhhhhhhhoney.No matter what size you're at or what thoughts you have, join the conversation on Instagram at @fatfriendpodcast.
As someone that's been single for 5 years, I've gone on LOTS of dates. And well I figured I'd share some of the most horrifying yet incredibly entertaining dates I've ever been on. I deep dive into the time I got my titty sucked in the street, why some may refer to me as "White Oprah" and how I almost became a prison wife. People, I've seen some things and I can't wait to share them with you!Make sure to follow me on Instagram at @fatfriendpodcast and let me know who you think the worst one is.
Sex... the topic that nobody wants to talk about but everyone wants to know about. This week Sol Smalls, a creative, badass tattooer and sex worker, joins me to discuss this unnecessarily taboo topic. We cover the toxic fetishization of fat bodies, life of a sex worker, and tips on how to grow your confidence in the bedroom. Because everybody deserves to experience sex with the lights on! After this, you'll never wonder how to get in my pants or how to support a sex worker again.  Follow Sol Smalls on Instagram at @solsmalls and support her Patreon. No matter what size you're at or what thoughts you have, join the conversation on Instagram at @fatfriendpodcast.
Take this Harvard Implicit Attitude Test on weight bias to recognize how we are all bias regardless of if we want to admit it or not. To be completely transparent, my results showed that I had a slightly preference towards thin bodies than overweight bodies. And honestly that does't surprise me! I have some internalized fatphobic ideas that society has instilled in me, but that's the point of this podcast. And yes.... fat people can still be fatphobic!
Join me, your new fat friend, on my journey to better understanding the lives of all body types to treat ourselves and others better. Listen in every week to hear unfiltered conversations, personal life stories and sneak peaks into my life as a confident fat woman. IG: @fatfriendpodcast
