Perimenopause is accompanied by a shape shift from a gynoid 🍐to android 🍏pattern of fat distribution (aka menopause belly). There is often (but not always) an increase in total body fat and an increase in fat mass relative to lean muscle mass, creating a flabbier appearance. So why does this happen?
