Vicious Felonies A Law & Order: SVU Podcast

We finally made it to an episode with Diane Neal (pre-Novak) so of course, we brought back fan-favorite guest that Jordan girl, We talk about dogs helping us like people more, Jordan being Peter Scanavino’s number one fan, O'Halloran, the great writing in this episode, various episodes we like, Grease 2, thoughts on Cabot vs Novak, The Jordan’s wanting a Law & Order: At the bar or Law & Order: At the Deli show, and Jordan gives lots of recommendations. There’s also a small surprise at the very end!

This episode was recorded in mid-May before our break. And it’s finally coming to your ears! We’re back and we talk about wanting a young Munch show, video games, the foster system, Cragen with kids, Cabot giving Glenn an out, the messed-up reason why the victim was punished, trying to throw off the trial, Cabot shifting the blame in the final moments, and much more!

We dive into Season 3, Episode 8 "Inheritance" on this episode, which Jordan and Crissy both liked more than they remembered. We discuss obvious temporary tattoos on the show, potential hate crimes, whether or not Dr. Huang speaks Chinese, a biracial perp & how being biracial affected him, and if violent genes can be passed down to family members. Mariska gives an outstanding performance in the final scene, which we (of course) fangirl over. 

This week we discuss season 3, episode 7 “Sacrifice” that features guest stars Mark Paul Gosselar and Elizabeth Banks as a married couple of porn stars. We talk about lack of health insurance as a plot device (and how we’re tired of it), the ongoing ‘does Olivia actually like pop (soda) or not?’ saga, Stabler’s coffee habits, the detectives lack of sensitivity to certain issues, and more!  

The SVU squad is joined in episode 3.06 “Redemption” by Detective John Hawk aka a random character introduced to give Stabler a taste of his own medicine. As usual, we have opinions! We discuss Stabler in a bad mood, the detectives drinking on the job, repercussions to putting an innocent man in prison, the ethics of letting a bad dude fall to his death, the Huang-Stabler Dynamic and more in this episode. 

We are discussing season 3 episode 5 Tangled. We talk about our love of Stabler, Cragen’s involvement/comparing him to current season Olivia, Crissy asks Jordan if he’d murder for her (spoiler: no), Cabot’s perfect line delivery, the board of photos, great Munch Fin scenes, our tabby sits in, and our favorite writers! 

We jump back into our regular recaps with Season 3’s Rooftop. We chat about the Fin Stabler dynamic, eating in the show, school musicals, good character moments, a show about young Fin, Malik’s character, the media’s involvement in cases, Fin’s unique perspective of both sides, serial killer facts, and more! 

Cragen’s on the case for Season 3’s third episode, “Stolen.” This is a shorter one but not so sweet in content. We discuss character choices, the 3-part structure of this episode, Cragen on the case (we even make a little theme song), overexplaining “triple dipping”, and the awful situation everyone is in for this episode. 

This week we go over the second episode in Season 3 “Wrath.” This is a strong episode that does some retconning. We chat about Stabler being protective, scams, door buzzing, Cragen’s cot, Cragen standing up for Benson, Huang analyzing Benson, subtle details, the pacing of the episode, Sleazy Lawyer Guy, and more!

Jumping into Season 3 with the opener “Repression” We get right to it with if we’ve seen the episode, a red herring, weird body language, the mother being put in a tough decision, the case being too easy right away, memories we don’t really have, relying on instincts, the grandpa’s weird unrelated butterfly obsession and more!

We end Season 2 with our season wrap-up. Like last time we go over our MVPs and ratings for the whole season. We also compared them to season 1. We even share some fashion and our top 3 moments. Season 2 is a transitional season in a lot of ways but we still find it more superior to Season 1. Then we make our official predictions as to what will happen with Stabler returning. Which lasts for the last 30 minutes or so of the episode. Jordan makes a passionate plea (half-joking)  about his opinions on Stabler being right and it being okay to be wrong. All in all, this is a fun listen to prepare for Season 3 and Stabler coming back in April!

We get together this week to go over episode 219 Parasites. It’s a quicker one. We talk about Stabler’s official return date, Crissy goes over her stuff from the week prior, Jordan’s Own Quick Summary ™, bones and how much you can learn about a victim from them, dumb lines, the cute scene of Benson and Stabler with the little girl, what young kids understand about cops and strangers, the big twist, the muddled nature of the episode, the dynamic between the ADA/squad, telling twins apart, how we’d know if one of us was an imposter, The princess Switch 2, diplomatic immunity in real life, the couple’s relationship by the end, and a bunch more!
