Reviewers: Scooter Mann, LJ Donnell, Verity Sainte Marie, Austin Travis, and Max Baskin Editing: David Allen Show-runner Information * Who's the show-runner(s) and what is their title? JC De La Torre, Creator and Head Writer Show Information * What is the story of why you started your show? Continuum Force was a show four years in the making. When we started, there weren't many audio dramas doing time travel. As ubergeeks, we had a love for Doctor Who and Stargate SG-1. We thought what would be better than combining the two concepts, sprinkle in a bit of Ancient Alien theory and alt-history to make a fun, thrilling adventure. Unfortunately, one of our main actors took ill and eventually passed away. We're happy to say we were able to use some of his audio in episode one because doing this project without him was just unacceptable. You'll hear him as the wild pirate Charles Vane. In addition to visiting different points in history and playing around with what-if scenarios, we also wanted to bring attention to a lesser-known aspect of the LGBTQIA community with one of our characters, Lesley Barber. The character is ACE, and one of the storylines will hang a lantern on it to help educate people on what that means. * When did this show first air? 1/8/2019 * What genre(s) apply to your show: Military Sci-Fi, Time-Travel Episode Information * What's the name of the episode you want us to use? Reviewers: Scooter Mann, LJ Donnell, Michelle Morrison, Maggie Allen, and Max Baskin Editing: David Allen Show-runner Information * Who's the show-runner(s) and what is their title? Faith McQuinn Show Information * What is the story of why you started your show? It started as a short story I wrote roughly 20 years ago. And then I turned it into a short film (that I did not love). The story was something that stayed with me, so about 10 years ago, I wrote a novella with plans to make it into a feature film. Knowing that I would never be able to raise the money to make it as I wanted, the idea of an audio drama became more and more appealing. And then I just jumped in with both feet and went for it. * When did this show first air? 9/9/2017 * What genre(s) apply to your show (e.g. horror, post apocalypse, comedy...): Drama with a dash a mystery Episode Information * What's the name of the episode you want us to use? Reviewers: Scooter Mann, LJ Donnell, Eric Honour, Maggie Allen, and Max Baskin Editing: David Allen Show-runner Information * Who's the show-runner(s) and what is their title? Lindsay Graham Show Information * What is the story of why you started your show? It's purely coincidental any similarities the show has with the 2016 election. Graham was kicking around the idea for at least 5 years or so before it aired. Graham began to think of this story as far back as even the early 90s. He asked himself the question "What would it take for one or two or three people to make a decision so that it's not a peaceful transition?" * When did this show first air? 11/27/2016 * What genre(s) apply to your show (e.g. horror, post apocalypse, comedy...): Political thriller Episode Information * What's the name of the episode you want us to use? (if it includes non English words, how are they pronounced) * What is the episode number (and season if applicable)? season 1 episode 1 * When was it published? 11/20/2016 Special Guests: David Allen, Eric Honour, LJ Donnell, Maggie Allen, and Max Baskin.
Reviewers: Scooter Mann, Maggie Allen, Michelle Morrison, Diana Raynes, and Max Baskin Editing: David Allen Show Information * Who's the show-runner(s) and what is their title? Connor Wright (co-creator/writer/Mikey), Christina Friel (co-creator/writer/President Clay), Ben Lapidus (sound designer/composer) What is the story of why you started your show? Connor and I (Christina) met in our sketch comedy group in college in New York. We both studied TV writing, and once we graduated we realized that that dream was pretty far fetched as young twenty-somethings with no prior credits. At that time, podcasts were becoming more mainstream and we decided that this idea would be a lot cooler (and a lot more feasible) if it was something you could listen to. We starting writing this in late 2016 (!!!) inspired by gayness and our general fear of Mike Pence/Clay Aiken. Enter Ben, a longtime friend and sound design wonderkid into the mix. Once he created and showed us the theme song, we knew we were in it for the long haul. Over the next two years, we wrote and rewrote, and then recorded and mixed everything out of Ben's bedroom (sorry Ben.) What genre(s) apply to your show (e.g. horror, post apocalypse, comedy...): Comedy, Narrative, Young Adult, Satire Episode Information * Name: Gay Academy * Episode Number: 1 * Publish Date: 1/3/2019 Background: No prior knowledge needed since it's the pilot! :D Special Guests: David Allen, Diane Raynes, Maggie Allen, Max Baskin, and Michelle Morrison.
Reviewers: Scooter Mann, LJ Donnell, Keith Riley, Michelle Morrison, and Max Baskin Editing: David Allen Show Information * Who's the show-runner(s) and what is their title? Lance Dann Dr What is the story of why you started your show? I've been working in radio drama and audio for a couple of decades and had produced some early podcast dramas about 11 years ago. I'd been seeking funding for project for some years and Blood Culture came together with the backing of an organisation called the Wellcome Trust (who do bio-medical research and fund public engagement with their work). I wanted to tell a bio-medical who-done-it - a mystery where you had to engage with science to figure the story out. I was also concerned about the behaviour of big tech companies and the cult like atmosphere that surrounds them (and their heads) this also informed the story. Finally I wanted to tell a cracking story with a lot of punch-ups, great music and a touch of humour. Hopefully Blood Culture did all this... What genre(s) apply to your show (e.g. horror, post apocalypse, comedy...): Thriller Episode Information * Name: Episode 1 Part 1 * Episode Number: 1 * Publish Date: 4/27/2017 Background: A'isha works at the tech company Meta... she isn't happy there but is just doing her job... then an old friend comes to visit and turn her life on its head. Special Guests: David Allen, Keith Riley, LJ Donnell, Max Baskin, and Michelle Morrison.
Reviewers: Scooter Mann, LJ Donnell, Verity Sainte Marie, Austin Travis, and Max Baskin Editing: David Allen Today we’ll be listening to Still Lives, which premiered in March of 2019 and was created by Colton Flick, James Currie, Sarah Schnebly (Shneb-lee), and Ríoghnach (REE-oh-noch) Robinson. Colton and Jamie had previously worked together on The Magical History of Knox County. When that show officially ended, they knew they wanted to work on something else, so they made a list of people they'd love to work with and started by emailing their two long-shot picks. Both of them wound up being interested, so they all started writing. Ríoghnach pitched Still Lives -- including the title, character names, and first episode synopsis -- pretty early on. They all loved the idea, so they picked it as their first project. This episode is called “The Quiet”, and it was originally published on March 4th, 2019. Show-runner Information * Who's the show-runner(s) and what is their title? No shorunner specifically. Together, they have discovered a world beyond their understanding: a world of science, earth! There, they meet Dr. Graw Horatio and his assistant Kaylee Fawn, and accidentally blow up their lab and home. As a result, the doctor’s equipment from earth has mutated into Scientific Tools Augmented with Magical Power. (Or STAMPs for short) Now they scour Hearth together trying to find them before they fall into the wrong hands, or unravel reality as they know it. Up until now, much of their efforts to find the stamp has resulted in disasters and collateral damage, from nugget raptors, to a village set ablaze. In the last few episodes, Dr. Horatio has found a way to track the STAMPs with his old radio (a STAMP which now gives very Cryptic clues on its whereabouts) Will the Magical Anomaly Interdimensional Locators (MAIL) find it in time? Episode Reviewed: "Radiationships", Season 1, Episode: 1. The show began to take form in the summer of 2016, while Tavius felt like his world was crumbling around him. This caused him to think about a world where it didn’t just /feel/ like it was the end of the world, but it was, in fact, the actual Apocalypse. He pitched the idea to several people close to him and after about a year of testing and production work, the show was born. Show Runner(s): Tavius Marshall - Producer Released on: 2018 Genre: Comedy, Call-in Radio, Post-Apocalypse Reviewers: Keith Riley, Lisa Watson, Max Baskin, Morgan Hazelwood, Scooter Mann Post Production: David Allen Tell me about how your show started? Spooning in the Apocalypse is a passion project/another desperate creative attempt by established Nashville artist, Tavius Marshall. In the summer of 2016 the weird idea, and concept seedlings started sprouting in his brain while his real life was falling apart. Tavius and his wife Ashley Litchford-Marshall, are multi-racial artists who having already started the podcast The Mixer: Legal to Brew a show about multi-racial issues, Tavius wanted to take podcasting to even weirder places. Making a universe where not only does it all feel like the Apocalypse, but it, in actual fact, is; and we are just trying to work through it. Pitching this to chosen persons close to him, Nathan Connor joined as “Radd Flink” and Head Writer/Co-Story Creator , Drew Collins joined as “Shaum Defroyen” and Head Sound Designer/Sound Producer/Music Composer/Audio Tsar, and Ashley Litchford-Marshall joined as the voice of “The Spoon”, Media Designer and Photographer. A year of concept testing and pre-production later, the first episode of Spooning in the Apocalypse was born, the rest is the future. Special Guests: David Allen, Keith Riley, Lisa Watson, Max Baskin, and Morgan Hazelwood.
Episode Reviewed: "Sam", Season 3, Episode: 2. This originally started as a one off episode in an anthology series called Night Terrors. It started as a series of books that Eric wanted to write back in the 90s. After running into rejections when trying to query publishers, he decided to rework the story to work as an Audio Drama. Show By: Eric L. Busby - Writer, creator, engineer, and director. Released on: 2006 Genre: Dark Fantasy/Horror Reviewers: David Allen, Max Baskin, Michelle Morrison, Scooter Mann, Verity Sainte Marie Post Production: David Allen, Scooter Mann Tell me about how your show started? A one off episode in an anthology series called Night Terrors. What inspired me was a series of books I wanted to write. I developed it back in the mid 90s. Researched everything it was going to be about. But after a few rejections from publishers I started rethinking how I could present it. Then with some work on how to present the tale in the audio medium. I developed The Byron Chronicles as a podcast series. Special Guests: David Allen, Max Baskin, Michelle Morrison, and Verity Sainte Marie.
Episode Reviewed: "The Phantom Shoplifter - Part I", Season 1, Episode: 3. Thoreau is an avid audio drama listener and a retail veteran. He’s a huge fan of supernatural stories which lead him to create a tale about a brick and mortar store called Hellomart, that is patronized by the most vile of creatures. Showrunner: Thoreau Smiley - Producer Released in:2017 Genre: Supernatural, Comedy Reviewers: Lisa Watson, LJ Donnell, Matt “Olaf” Hinton, Max Baskin Post Production: David Allen, Scooter Mann Tell me about how your show started? I was an avid listener of audiodrama, and a retail veteran, which I thought was fertile ground for a comedy. The supernatural element was added because I am a huge fan of the genre and I realized that in a store like HelloMart the most evil creatures are the customers. Episode Info: Daniel Richmond was a wall street criminal who did his time and is now being forced to complete a prison work release program in the small town of Strickland, at the local big box store, HelloMart. He quickly discovers that the store was built on the buried gates of hell itself and is subject to attack by numerous supernatural creatures, some of whom are also employees, including a tribe of elves who work in the automotive department and traded all the shelves to a leprechaun for shoes. His first day did not go smoothly, with Daniel alienating various employees, including the assistant manager, Chet, and Emily, a fellow employee who rebuffs his clumsy attempts to ask her out on a date. He ended his first day, after accidentally opening a vortex to hell, by going out after work to the bar next door with his new Co-workers. This episode picks up the next day. Special Guests: David Allen, Lisa Watson, LJ Donnell, Matt "Olaf" Hinton, and Max Baskin.
Episode Reviewed: “Market to Market” , Season 1, Episode 5 Alba Salix is a witch who runs a small hospital called the House of Healing (when she's not tending to the kingdom's royal family). She's assisted by her troublesome apprentice, Magnus, and her absent-minded herbalist, a fairy named Holly. Show-runner: Eli McIlveen Released in: 2014 Genre: Fantasy, Comedy, Medical Reviewers: Maggie Allen, Max Baskin, Scooter Mann, Thomas Sixten Tell us about how your show started? I'd been writing a series about aliens living in Niagara Falls, but it was clear that I was in over my head on both the writing and production side. So I brainstormed ideas for a show that would be more episodic, and easier to produce, and came up with "fairy-tale hospital show".. It turned out to be exactly as complicated as the abandoned Niagara project. Special Guests: David Allen, Maggie Allen, Max Baskin, and Thomas Sixten.
We review their episode "Hudden and Dudden and Donald O'Neary", Episode: 22. So, this is kind of as a joke. Anansi Storytime is the other series done by Legendsmith Productions. We thought it would be fun to do a review as if we hadn't heard it before. As it turns out, somehow, most of the people reviewing the episode didn't act in it. So it's bit more honest than we expected. Enjoy! This episode is a rather silly tale of 3 farmers that get into a nasty trickster war. Reviewers: LJ Donnell, Morgan Hazelwood, Scooter, Lynne Parsons, and Max Baskin Post Production: David Allen Special Guests: David Allen, LJ Donnell, Lynn Parson, Max Baskin, and Morgan Hazelwood.
