Previous episode "The New Normal" included a discussion of my concerns relating to the idea of the world amidst Covid-19 being described as a New Normal. I felt it was a media buzzword being used to subdue the masses into blind compliance. However, as time goes on far beyond that which was envisioned at the start, this episode of PsychBites aims to explore the social change processes underlying the acceptance of a group norm and how this can be a positive when managing large populations in society.
In the days following the hotly anticipated release of PS4 Exclusive "The Last of Us 2", the ongoing fascination with "The Walking Dead" universe and our own backdrop of a worldwide pandemic, this episode of PsychBites looks at our fascination with the post-apocalyptic genre, the underlying reality and an embrace of "The New Normal".
In this episode of PsychBites, I look at the tension of being a parent and a psychologist. Does head overrule heart when it comes to helping your child to grow up?
What are psychological approaches? What can they tell us about the nature of psychology?
All good things must come to an end. In this episode we consider how behaviourism went from being the primary school of thought in psychology to being rejected by the cognitive revolution of the 1960s.

In this episode we look at some of the key figures in Psychology. From its beginnings to its more recent foray into cognitive neuroscience.
In this episode, we attempt to unpack what psychology really is. Yeah....good luck with that.

Welcome to Psychbites. The podcast that makes you think.
I have been hearing the phrase "new normal" around recently in reference to the current pandemic related lockdown. In this episode, I want to explore what this means. Is it a way of feeling in control of the uncontrollable? Is it a way of accepting the drastic changes that have taken place? Is it just a hashtag to categorise #lifeinlockdown?
Welcome to PsychBites. The podcast that makes you think. In this episode I follow up the question of obedience put forward in our first and start to look at the way in which Milgram's research can help us undergo some crucial self-reflection. What are the lessons we can take away nearly 60 years later? And why do some people consider his research to lack value?
Welcome to PsychBites. The podcast that makes you think. In this episode I reflect upon the growing need for technology in our lives to feel connected. We've long been concerned about use of technology and its impact on the brain, but what about now where we are without choice?
In this episode I go through why I run...what I am running for....what I am running from...
It's amazing I make it through to the end really.
In the first episode of PsychBites we are exploring the idea of obedience. What is it? Is it good? Bad? Amoral? And what are the lessons we can learn about it from history.
