Description

Embrace the mess: the raw truths and unspoken realities of 'having it all'.

Courage + Chaos is the podcast for women who are juggling ALL the plates.

With a focus on the challenges of managing entrepreneurship and careers, motherhood and advocacy, and all of the other day to day roles we are expected to play as women (proudly and without complaint) Courage and Chaos is about bringing women together, offering resources and a sense of community and challenging the societal "norms" we have been conditioned to (quietly) follow.

Sharing stories, tips and perspective from women who are somehow doing it all.... and surviving to tell the tale.

This is a community of women who truly get it, and will make you feel less alone in what you're dealing with and how you're feeling. Women whose stories and experience are relatable, inspiring and full of great advice. Women like you.

Hosted by Rhiannon Louden: proud owner of two small businesses and mum to two amazing girls, the youngest of whom has a rare genetic disorder and multiple disabilities. Juggling a busy career, motherhood, and now the new role of health advocate for a non verbal, mobility impaired toddler has made this podcast feel more important than ever for Rhiannon.

As a writer, photographer, brand strategist and mentor Rhiannon is a fierce supporter of female entrepreneurship and since becoming a parent seven years ago conversations on matrescence, motherhood and gender inequality have become equally prevalent in her life. So here we are!

Episodes air bi-weekly on Wednesdays- going live at noon.

Please give us a follow and leave a review- it helps a lot in getting these important stories out to the world and growing a community of like minded women too!

Being your own boss means YOU set the rules. The traditional, corporate, patriarchal business setup wasn't created with women in mind. And it certainly wasn't created to feel manageable for women who are also mothers and carers.  Setting your own rules for your business, your lifestyle, and your own version of success is how you create a business you love- instead of a business you start to resent.  And when you build your business around your own values and lifestyle, that's where the growth happens. That's where you find the likeminded people, the audience who can relate, the ideal clients who appreciate the things you've done to make your business work for you and for them.  This episode topic was chosen by YOU thanks to a recent instagram poll and I hope it shares some insight into the ways I challenged business norms and created my own rules- and why that helped me grow my business to where it is today. This episode is honest, it's blunt and it's unapologetic- and I hope it’s a bit inspiring too.  If you're struggling to structure your business around your busy life, if you're feeling afraid to rebel against industry norms, if you're frustrated with business "rules" that really don't apply to women/mothers/carers or creative entrepreneurs- this episode is for you.   This is a short and sweet solo episode and I hope you'll find it helpful, relatable and a little bit inspirational too.  Thanks for joining the conversation!   Don't forget to like/follow the podcast to stay up to date on new episodes, and if you like what you hear please give us a share!Connect with me: Rhiannon LoudenInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/rhiannonlouden.co.uk & https://www.instagram.com/rhiannonealeWebsite: https://www.rhiannonlouden.co.ukSubstack: https://theraremumchronicles.substack.com/ Podcast instagram: https://www.instagram.com/courageandchaospodIntro/Outro music credit: https://www.purple-planet.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/courage-chaos--4358445/support.
Repeat after me: I do not need to reinvent myself this year.Or set a big list of goals you haven't actually given much thought to- just because there are messages everywhere telling you that's what you "have to" do to become a "success."The first episode of 2025 is all about saying goodbye to the "New Year, New You'll bullsh*t we see every January and instead taking some time to think honestly about what you want out of 2025.I start with sharing my own perspective after what was the most tumultous year of my life in 2024, and why I'm not setting big showy goals for 2025. I talk you through the difference between dreams, intentions and goals and the importance of choosing a select few goals that are the right fit in every aspect of you life- not just your business. From there I share my simple five step process for setting goals you can actually achieve, focused around defining, sharing, planning, accountability and celebrating every win along the way.   This is a short and sweet solo episode and I hope you'll find it helpful, relatable and a little bit inspirational too. Thanks for joining the conversation!   Don't forget to like/follow the podcast to stay up to date on new episodes, and if you like what you hear please give us a share! Never mind the highlights. It’s the hurdles we’ve overcome that tell the most honest- and interesting- story.  Courage and Chaos is back for a new season- and I’m starting this one out by sharing the real, raw, honest truths about my own business journey as a female entrepreneur.  With a focus on five major obstacles and the ways I overcame them, I’ll walk you through my seven years of full time self employment (and the many years of side hustling before that) to get to where I am today: with two thriving business, co founding a community of female entrepreneurs in Scotland and raising two small humans.  Covering a move overseas and setting up a business in a new country, matresence and motherhood, disability parenting, a worldwide pandemic and a host of other things that tested my determination (and stubbornness) this episode is all about learning things the hard way, adapting, and celebrating growth and perseverence- even when it looks different than you thought it would.  Thanks for joining the conversation!   Don't forget to like/follow the podcast to stay up to date on new episodes, and if you like what you hear please give us a share! Uncomfortable with the 'money' aspect of running a small business? You're in good company. Most small business owners and freelancers find things like pricing and selling difficult to navigate and uncomfortable to talk about. But they're kind of an important part of running a business- we do need to make a living after all! This episode I interview Money Coach Ray Dodd, who talks us through why many of us have negative perceptions about money, self limiting beliefs surrounding money and our worth, and offers an alternative perspective on what more money can mean not only for our own lifestyle, but for the world around us. She also shares her own business story and journey (the tough stuff too- not just the highlights!) and gives us some great tips for challenging our current beliefs and perceptions around money, limitations and future goals. If you feel like your perceptions on money are holding you back, this is the episode for you!Episode Links:Guest: Ray DoddInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/ray_dodd/Other links: https://bio.site/raydoddHost: Rhiannon Louden, Small Fish Brand CoInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/smallfishbrandco/ Website: https://www.smallfishglasgow.co.uk Linked In: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rhiannonmIntro/Outro music credit: https://www.purple-planet.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/courage-chaos--4358445/support.
Episode 32- the podcast is back for season three, and I'm back from materntiy leave!I've actually been back to work from mat leave for a while, but it's been quite the adjustment around here. This is a solo episode and it's all about my experience with maternity leave as an entrepreneur, and the struggle to find a new normal as I return to work. I talk about hiring a virtual assistant to keep things ticking over, trying to take a "proper" leave from your business and how I staggered my return back (or tried to anyways). If you're planning for mat leave, or planning to return from one this episode is full of honest truths and perspectives on how it felt for me, what the biggest challenges were and what I'm working through now, almost one year in to my return. Ever felt stuck in your business? Unsure how to move past an obstacle, or where to go next, or what exactly it is that's holding you back? No matter how long you've been in business, there will be times where you just feel a bit stuck- and it's not easy to get out of that rut on your own. That's where creative coach Kathryn Ho comes in- and this week she's on the podcast sharing her insights, experience, and advice for figuring out how to work through the things that are holding you back, and keep moving forward in your business and your life. This episode is full of fresh perspective, tips on navigating your mindset and your approach, making your business better work with your brain and your personality and lots of personal stories- from both Kathryn and I- on our own journey with mindset and change in our own businesses too. Thanks for joining the conversation!   Don't forget to like/follow the podcast to stay up to date on new episodes, and if you like what you hear please give us a share!Episode Links: Connect with my guest:Kathryn Ho: Coach for CreativesInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/kathryn_ho_/Substack: https://substack.com/@kathrynhoWebsite: https://yourethicalmarketer.co.uk/Connect with me: Rhiannon Louden: Mentor, Speaker & Photographer, Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rhiannonlouden Website: https://www.rhiannonlouden.co.ukSubstack: https://theraremumchronicles.substack.com/ Intro/Outro music credit: https://www.purple-planet.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/courage-chaos--4358445/support.
First episode of 2026! Today’s episode is all about why it's okay to take it slow this January- without the pressure for making big resolutions or making 2026 the "best year ever" for your business. A short and sweet solo episode that delves into the predatory nature of January advertising, the reasons why resolutions don't often stick, and why you might be feeling more like curling up on the couch instead of "smashing it" with your business right now.  This episode is for anyone who is slowly easing into the new year (instead of "smashing it"), taking things at their own pace and trying to block out the noise around doing more and better and "fixing" yourself or your business. I hope you'll find it helpful and relatable and feel a little less alone. Thanks for joining the conversation!   Don't forget to like/follow the podcast to stay up to date on new episodes, and if you like what you hear please give us a share! Burnout- it's not a place we want to be. But when you're juggling all of the plates, it can creep up on you more quicklly than you think. And it's not an easy place to break free from. On this week's episode of Courage & Chaos, I'm chatting with Sarah Williamson- feelow burnout survivor and solopreneur who is passionate about sharing her experience and how she made changes to her business and her life to help navigate through the overwhelm and to a much happier place. We each share the story of how we got from stressed to burnout: and the things we did to work our way out of it. There's lots of very honest chat, advice and ideas for tackling overwhelm and trying to keep burnout mode at bay (or stop yourself from going there again, if you, like us, have been there before). Thanks for joining the conversation!   Don't forget to like/follow the podcast to stay up to date on new episodes, and if you like what you hear please give us a share!Episode Links: Connect with my guest:Sarah Williamson: Email & Content Marketing ExpertInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/yourethicalmarketerWebsite: https://yourethicalmarketer.co.uk/Connect with me: Rhiannon Louden: Mentor, Speaker & Photographer, Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rhiannonlouden Website: https://www.rhiannonlouden.co.ukSubstack: https://theraremumchronicles.substack.com/ Intro/Outro music credit: https://www.purple-planet.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/courage-chaos--4358445/support.
Welcome back to a brand new season of Courage and Chaos! Today’s episode kicks it all off with a very raw and honest chat about business sustainability- which is just a fancy way of saying how to make it through the tough times as an entrepreneur, and how to keep yourself going! I’ve broken today’s episode down into four tough “phases” you may find yourself going through in your business, and how I navigated each one: from worldwide pandemics and the cost of living crisis to how to show up when it feels like the world is on fire, to working through grief and personal challenges (complete with a stint in burnout mode) and figuring out how to manage pregnancy, maternity leave, and returning to work. This episode is for anyone who is going through a tough time in their business or their life- it’s real, it’s raw and it’s full of lessons learned the hard way and practical tips and advice you can apply, whatever situation you’re in. I hope you'll find it helpful and relatable and feel a little less alone.   Thanks for joining the conversation!   Don't forget to like/follow the podcast to stay up to date on new episodes, and if you like what you hear please give us a share! Hands up if you feel guilty for being excited about your business. For working on the weekend, or taking a shorter maternity leave, or taking on that extra project and being less present in your home. For daring to build something for you- and not making absolutely EVERYTHING be about your kids. Juggling a growing business alongside the heavy load of motherhood is a LOT. Trying to stay on top of all of the things is a LOT. And constantly comparing ourselves- to those around us, to the stereotypical mums we see on tv, to the "perfect" lives we are shown on instagram? It feeds that guilt until you end up feeling like you've failed at everything. The thing is, no one has this figured out. No one is doing it perfectly. And EVERYONE deals with the guilt of trying to balance these two very important aspects of their lives. If you are keeping your small humans happy and your business afloat- that is enough. You are doing enough. And alongside all of those added obstacels and challenges of running a business? There are a lot of benefits too. Not just for you, but for your children. This epsiode is all about highlighting the ways in which being an entrepreneur enriches your children's lives, your family's lifestyle, and the community around you.
