Hey everyone, Get ready for a mind-opening episode of our podcast as we dive into the fascinating world of African spirituality. The topic of today's discussion is "African Spirituality: Unveiling the Mysteries and Misconceptions." Have you ever wondered about the existence of a spiritual realm before the physical world? Well, our guest speakers have some intriguing insights to share. They explore the concept of a beginning before the beginning, highlighting the belief that spirit came before physical existence. They also shed light on the evidence of ancestral worship found in Egypt, which aligns with stories in the Bible. But that's not all! African spirituality sees humans as spiritual beings first and foremost. They discuss how death is not the end but a transition into a different realm. Funeral celebrations in Africa are seen as a way for the spirit to make its journey back to the spiritual realm. Our speakers also address the misconceptions and stereotypes surrounding African spirituality, explaining that rituals and sacrifices are a way to provide energy or fuel for the spiritual realm. Now, here's a thought-provoking question: Has Christianity replaced African spirituality? Our speakers challenge this notion, arguing that African spirits and practices are still alive and powerful. They criticize the idea that forgiveness can be obtained simply by confessing sins in church, contrasting it with the longer process of forgiveness in African spirituality. As one of our guests wisely said, "Forgiveness is a journey, not a destination."
African spirituality is a holistic concept that stemmed from the historical, cultural and religious heritage of Africa, and includes among others, folktales, beliefs, rituals and culture. African spiritualities must be understood as originated from Africa's soil, but also developed through contact with people from other countries and continents. The African independent or indigenous churches play an important role in the establishing of African Christian spiritualities. This episode distinguishes and gives attention to the influence of African traditional spiritual phenomena as well as a 'globalized Africa spiritual' phenomenon on African families.

When Alex Wagner (aka ASW or ‘A Single Wave’) was diagnosed with bipolar disorder back in 2013, he leaned into self-discovery and began volunteering for Crisis Text Line so as to help others facing similar struggles. His newest concept EP, ‘Dahlia’ (which dropped via Popgang Records in August) turns his visceral life experiences into sonic art, and has been the basis for a fundraising series that has raised thousands of dollars for the same national nonprofit. The collection is filled with deep vocals, steady percussion, and soothing progressive house beats that may bring peace to weary listeners. ‘Soil And The Seed,’ the EP’s third single, is an especially cathartic listen with a deeply personal message. “‘Soil And The Seed’ is the acceptance of life as a flawed, uncomfortable, dark, beautiful ride. This acceptance heightens us. Makes us present,” ASW explains. “I wrote ‘Soil And The Seed’ about those who hide from this truth, fear it, but eventually let go, embrace it.” It’s safe to say the experimental queer artist and mental health advocate has accomplished just that, with thoughtful melodies that effectively free the soul. #creativehustleshow #creativehustle #hustleshow ►FACEBOOK: https://facebook.com/Dubaidenismaronga ►TWITTER: https://twitter.com/Dubaidenismamba ►YOUTUBE: https://youtube.com/@dubaidenismamba ►INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/kicheko_project ►LINKTREE: https://linktr.ee/DubaiDenis ►WEBSITE: https://kichekoproject.com
