It brings out the largest such turnout of voters in the world, over 900 million people across 27 states. It is both a logistics challenge as well as a civics lesson in hearing the voices of people in distant regions. In Congress, Indo American representation has increased from just one member in 2012 to six in 2024. A new candidate, Rakhi Israni, has entered into the race in California as a Democrat in the 14th Congressional District, but she has deep roots in the Houston area where shewas raised as the daughter of the well-known Dr. Haku Israni who founded Test Masters. She is currently visiting her hometown to meet with supporters and took the time out to have a telephone interview with us.4:50 pm Just as we were warned, we are quickly getting immersed in a world of Artificial Intelligence and it is the dawn of a new computer revolution, onewhich we have to learn to navigate or be doomed to irrelevance. But how exactly should we use our cellphones to improve our efficiencies when we have to deal with CoPilot, Gemini, Gork, Perplexity, Chat GPT, Claude and the still evolving Siri? To shed more light on this whole process, we turn to Nina Oishi, a voting rights staff attorney at the Texas Civil Rights Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit basedin Austin that advocates for voting rights, racial justice, economic justice, and criminal justice reform. She joins ustoday to discuss what sets her platform apart from the others.4:50 pm A few years ago, during his campaign for County Commissioner Pct 4, we asked  Dexter McCoy to take part in our popular news quiz and he gladly came and showed his ability to engage with people at every level. We will discuss what initiatives he has been able to spearhead as Commissioner and also what issues he believes are vital to the county’s future to keep it growing. 5:20 pm Ever an optimist, Ramesh Cherivirala made a huge transition in his career as a PhD in Chemistry who moved into the financial field and has had a very successful track as an agent for New York Life. He has kept involved in the Indian community through several non-profits and has been president of the India Culture Center and also the Indo American Charity Foundation, has also held other Board positions. He ran unsuccessfully for FBISD Trustee and later for Texas state rep. He now has his sights set for the FB County Commissioner Pct 4 in the Republican primary. Immigration attorney George Willy talks about these issues and how to protect yourself from being arbitrarily detained by ICE.4:50 pm Homelessness is a big issue nationwide, but in the past two years, Houston has gotten goodmarks for tackling it in creative ways which have resulted in a significant drop of people on the streets and move into affordable housing projects through the efforts of several key agencies like the Houston Land Bank, Houston Community Land Trust, SEARCH Homeless Services and others. HCLT has provided permanently affordable homeownership to 200 limited-income Houston families since 2019. We are joined by the HCLT Executive Director Ashley Allen to tell us how the program works.5:20 pm Five years ago, Dr. Audrey Nath, a successful neurologist heard the call for advocacy and left full-timeacademic medicine for more flexible telemedicine work so she could fight for immigrant rights, pre-trial detention standards, healthcare access and public education. He was a warrior, poet, and philosopher. In 1675, at the age of nine, he was formally made the leader of the Sikhs after his father Guru Tegh Bahadur—the ninth Sikh Guru—was executed by the emperor Aurangzeb.
