4:20 pm Artificial Intelligence is seemingly everywhere these days, with some saying it is positively transforming society by freeing us from mundane tasks and others fearing it poses an existential threat to humanity. But people may not have thought much about its use in criminal justice. We turn today to Chris Handley who serves in the Harris County District Attorney's Office as its Chief of Innovation to learn how traditional legal skills are fusing together with forward-thinking technological and strategic practices.

With heavy international travel between Africa and the Houston region, we wondered if this spread of Mpox is a cause for alarm for us, especially as 725 cases have been reported ocally so far. Also, as COVID-19 is resurgent in the US once again, so we asked Dr. David Persse, the Chief Medical Officer for the City of Houston to tell us more about these topics.

site, a giant 90-foot statue of Hanuman which will be visible from miles away. We turn to temple Board member and Joint Secretary Dr Ranganath Kandala and Treasurer Pavan Achuta to tell us how this project was envisioned,
when it will be completed and more details.
4:50 pm General elections are currently being held in India over the next two weeks, with five weeks of voting gone by. It brings out the largest such turnout of voters in the world, over 900 million people across 27 states. It is both a logistics challenge as well as a civics lesson in hearing the voices of people in distant regions. In our 8 week series on the elections, we are joined today again by India political analysts Kapil Sharma, Aadit Kapadia & Vishnu Pandey, to learn more about the latest election results.
5:20 pm The Overseas Friends of the Bharati Janata Party has been hugely instrumental in the party’s rise to power since 1999 and especially since 2014 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office. To achieve this, it has reached out to the millions of Indians who live overseas for support – both financial and logistical – and chapters exist in many countries. Today, we are very fortunate to have with us the President of the OFBJP-USA, Dr. Adapa Prasad, who is calling in from the East Coast to explain how the organization has grown and functions.

But unlike others cities, Houston has been lauded for decreasing homeless numbers by 60% by placing them in affordable and in most cases free shelters. Just this past week, the City of Houston approved spending $16 million to buy the property at 419 Emancipation Avenue, which will house up to 320 people. There were 818,000 permanent residents in 2024, and 360,000 are eligible. But the pathway toward citizenship is getting more expensive anddifficult. Today, we are joined by Zenobia Lai, the Executive Director of the non-profit Houston Immigration Legal Services Collaborative, to talk about the costs and challenges to becoming a citizen.4:40 pm At the urging of Donald Trump, Gov. Greg Abbott has pushed for a mid-census redistricting of the Texas Congressional map, putting four Houston area districts squarely in contention, in a bid to win 5 seats forthe GOP in next year’s elections. In the special session called by Abbott, out of the 18 bills that needed addressing, chief of which was relief funding for the flood-stricken areas of Kerr County, he flipped the order and opted to vote on redistricting. This prompted 50 Democrats to bolt to Illinois and California and deny a quorum to hold a vote. We speak by phone with State Rep. Gene Wu, who has emerged as the leader of the revolt, on what they have accomplished and what the next steps will be. 5:20 pm With the passage of the Big, Beautiful Bill, ICE will receive $29.9 billion, $45 billion for detention facilities, funds to hire 10,000 agents and another $75 billion insupplemental funding. It is bound to lead to many arrests and people will need immigration attorneys to represent them. On the other hand, ICE raids are ramping up at day laborer gatherings outside Home Depots, construction sites,farms and restaurants.
