In this one-year anniversary episode of Rocks and Dirt, we explore the vast musical library of Jimi Hendrix. Steve found it surprising that as a guitar player Todd‘s not more familiar with the songs, Mike is surprised the Jimi Hendrix tunes didn’t make it further up the charts, Todd was surprised the Rocks and Dirt podcast has only been around for one year. As always, you’ll learn behind-the-scenes facts and be more prepared for your next appearance on “Jeopardy!”
Kansas and Cornhole!

Kansas and Cornhole!

2021-04-1421:58

Does Kansas have Cornhole? Well, we know Kansas has corn! In this week's installment of The Tuxedo Cats’ Rocks and Dirt podcast, we take a close look at Kansas. Steve can tell you all there is to know about the band, Todd is not sure he cares for the band, Mike host the show and referees the conversation.  Then, we’re not in Kansas anymore. We’re talking about Cornhole! That’s right, and our friend Fletch joins us to explain all the fascinating details about the sport of Cornhole. You’ll love what you learn on this week's episode of Rocks and Dirt. A production of The Tuxedo Cats®! Can I work Cornhole into this conversation one more time! Cornhole!
This week the cool cats talk about the gangster of love and the space cowboy. Steve Miller is the rock subject of our Rocks and Dirt podcast. For the dirt, we go to the Texas Rangers who open their season with high hopes and a brand new stadium. Mike is so excited, he wore his metal cleats. Put me in coach! It’s Rocks and Dirt!
Deep Purple started in 1968 and are STILL ALIVE! Okay, with an almost entirely different line up, but still! You'll recognize Smoke on the Water, Space Truckin' and Highway Star. And after Highway Star, we smoothly segue into a discussion about Funny Car races. Seamless!  Listen as Steve shares his vast knowledge, Todd amazes with techy skills, and Mike starts false rumors. Celebrating our 30th episode! It's Rocks and Dirt!
CCR and Bull Riding

CCR and Bull Riding

2021-02-2324:58

An unlikely combination from three unlikely podcasters. Tonight we look at the prolific career of Creedence Clearwater Revival, a band that cranked out 27 singles in about an hour and a half. Actually, their career lasted a brief four years. But what a string of hits that remains a staple on classic rock stations to this day. Todd gave us a lesson on bull riding, a sport we knew little about, but learned it’s virtually in our back yard. A slew of dates and venues make bull riding very accessible to east Texans.  Check your local rodeo. Maybe they’ll play some CCR.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Southern Rockers from Jacksonville, Florida highlight a show complete with another Florida winner, the seemingly ageless Tom Brady of the surprisingly dominant Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Additional conversation involves the Super Bowl halftime performance of The Weeknd, and the ensuing mixed online reviews. Turn us on! It’s Rocks and Dirt!
Mike, Todd and Steve cover 50 years of classic rock history with The Toxic Twins, Aerosmith! Remembering where they were when (or trying to remember) and highlighting the hits of the band called “The Greatest American Rock and Roll Band”. And with the Super Bowl right around the corner, and while most of East Texas is all for our Whitehouse boy, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback  Patrick Mahomes (or as Todd calls him, the Half Billion Dollar Man), Mike can’t help but pull for the old guy, Bucs legendary QB Tom Brady. “If the plural of grief is grieves, and the plural of belief is believes, could the plural of Chiefs be Chieves”? Something to think about. On this week’s Rocks and Dirt!
So many Super Bowls, and so many Fleetwood Mac members! Both started in 1967, and both are featured in this week’s Rocks and Dirt! It was meant to be. So much information covered in 20 minutes. It’s educational and entertaining. It’s “Edu-taining”. Even though Todd’s eyes glazed over momentarily during the sports segment, we know you’ll be enlightened by this week’s... ROCKS AND DIRT!
The podcast had to be edited and reloaded to be accepted by some podcast platforms, so this a short trip backward. Immediately after the passing of Eddie VanHalen, we just couldn't get over it or stop talking about it. Steve and Mike's absence from the studio, didn't stop Todd from calling and continuing the stories that surrounded one of our favorite Rock Bands. So here's some dirt on Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth. Also, an interesting bit of insight about Spain's yearly celebrated Bullfights!
Mike, Todd, and Steve ring in the yuletide with their favorite Holiday songs! Some you may easily guess, but others are so obscure you’ll wonder if they’re real. Of course, Steve offers behind the scenes insight from everything from the year they released to the roadies’ favorite color. Coach Joel checks in as well to give us his weekly update on the state-bound Lindale Football Eagles! All on this weeks Christmasy Rocks and Dirt!
If Mike sounds better on this week's Rocks and Dirt, it's:   a) he's been gargling throat coat b) new pants c) this week's featured artist is a Beatle!   We honor George Harrison on the 19th anniversary of his passing and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his classic album "All Things Must Pass". So many songs, so little time.   Todd's nephew Joel checks in to borrow some money from his uncle, and brings an update on the soaring Lindale Eagles as they fight their way to the top of the Texas High School football state tournament!   And we actually edit more of Steve's knowledge than most people even acquire in a lifetime!   All on this installment of Rocks and Dirt!
We could spend a week on Eric Clapton. His history includes bands like The Yardbirds, The Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos, and an awesome solo career! We've condensed everything you need to know into just a few minutes. No doubt you'll be amazed at his story and you'll want to update your favorite playlists! The Lindale Eagles are having a great year and will go into the second round of the 2020 4A Division Playoffs! Coach and frequent Rocks and Dirt guest, Joel Rinlee will give us all the dirt! Good luck Lindale Eagles! We hope to talk to you about round 3!
Mike is in hog heaven as the Rocks and Dirt gang tackle two of his favorite topics: Paul McCartney and Wings, and the recent World Series played in Arlington Stadium. Join us as we enjoy clips of some of the best post-Beatle songs on the planet, and re-cap the baseball championship that finally came to Texas, but not really.   "It ain't like it was back in the day, because back then all we had was Rocks and Dirt." (And I seem to remember baseball...)
In this episode of Rocks and Dirt we celebrate the life, music and influence of Eddie Van Halen. There’s no denying that Eddie changed the way people play the guitar. As listeners we expect more because of Eddie, and as players we strive for more excellence no matter what instrument we find ourselves playing. In sports we discuss the tragic end of Dak’s season as he’s broken an ankle, and we invite Lindale Eagles Football coach Joel Rinlee to give us the dirt on the Lindale football stats so far in 2020. It’s an information packed installment of “Rocks & Dirt” that you don’t want to miss!
Mike, Todd, and Steve get inspired by the southern rock of the Allman Brothers. They then vow to play some at their next gig, Thursday at Krazy Cajun. And as only he can, Steve deals the dirt about the Stars, Cowboys, and Rangers. All of whom, at various levels, have fallen short of the big prize. It’s classic rock and sports at its classiest and sportiest! It’s Rocks and Dirt!
This week the Rocks and Dirt Gang engage in a multi-media event! Not only do they bring the classic rock and sports banter we’ve come to love and expect, but they take a step out of the box and help teach Mrs. Dugger’s music class. Believe it or not, they’re actually helping mold young minds. As you watch/listen to this week’s conversation/jam session, keep in mind we’re highlighting some of the top songwriters of all time!  Pay close attention. There just might be college credit in it for ya...
Stevie Ray Vaughan. His influences, his songs, and those influenced by him. The Texas guitar-slinging legend is remembered in the musical side of this week’s podcast, as well as recently departed baseball legends Tom “Terrific” Seaver and Lou Brock. All right here on this week’s episode of The Tuxedo Cats'® “Rocks and Dirt"!
Todd is alone in the studio. That ...should make you wonder what’s happening with The Tuxedo Cats “Rocks & Dirt” podcast. Scary, actually. He prank calls every Tuxedo Cat and won’t shut up about an upcoming “Funk and Disco Night,“ and The Dallas Stars. Get some of the details on this week’s episode of Rocks and Dirt!  …and here are some other details  http://www.outhousetickets.com/Event/13535-Tuxedo_Cats/ https://texasmusiccity.net
This week’s Rocks and Dirt Podcast has a Texas boogie flair, as well as some baseball lore. We dig deep into the half century career of everybody’s favorite Little Ol’ Band from Texas, ZZ Top. Steve particularly shines, spewing forth more ZZ knowledge than most podcasts could hope to contain. It’s why we call him “Steve-o-pedia”. We also review the 1970s baseball legend “Big Red Machine”. Many know some of the names of the World Champion Cincinnati Reds, but few could predict the emotional impact they would have on Mike. Even now he aspires to “get back in shape” and try out for center field in 2021. Once again Tuxedo Cats CEO Todd pushes all the right buttons and produces a fine podcast that is sure to please both Rockers and Jockers. It’s Rocks and Dirt!
Strange times indeed but The Rolling Stones are alive and kicking so it ain’t all bad! Mike and Steve re-live or “flashback" on some of their favorite times growing up listening to the “Stones” and watching baseball ..in the actual stands! Todd’s ADD moment leads to a discussion on cardboard cutouts that’s very informative! And entertaining! It’s infotainment on this weeks installment of “Rocks & Dirt.” A production The Tuxedo Cats®
