Porter Cottrell, one of the best professional bodybuilders of the 1990's, talks about his career in bodybuilding. Porter talks about how he started training as a kid growing up in Kentucky (00:22:07), competing in his first few bodybuilding competitions (00:27:30), winning the light heavyweight class at the 1991 NPC Nationals (00:35:26), his impressive debut as a professional bodybuilder in 1992 (00:38:35), the death of Mohamed Benaziza (00:49:40) and his decision to step away from bodybuilding(01:10:00). 1966 AAU Mr. America Bob Gajda is joined by his long time friends Al Jakich and Terry Strand to talk about the Golden Age of Bodybuilding in the 1960's and '70's in Chicago. They first talk about the crazy life of bodybuilder Rock Stonewall who managed Irvin Johnson's gym in Chicago while simultaneously running a prostitution ring in the city and running afoul of the Chicago Mob. Bob, Al and Terry also talk about Sergio Oliva and his legendary workouts at the Duncan YMCA, including the time he trained with Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1969. They also reminisce about Sergio's crazy eating habits and his career with the Chicago Police Department.
1982 Mr. Olympia Chris Dickerson is a guest on the Bodybuilding Legends Podcast to talk about his years competing in the NABBA Mr. Universe contest in London. Chris first competed in the NABBA Mr. Universe in 1970 after winning the AAU Mr. America competition. Chris went on to win the 1973 NABBA Mr. Universe overall and the 1974 NABBA Universe in the Professional Division. He talks about competing against Franco Columbu, Frank Zane and Tom Platz, his association with his coach Bill Pearl and the importance of posing in a bodybuilding competition.
