So this was a thought that came to me actually after a prospective client decided not to work with me. But I thought was so interesting because in the long run it worked out for me. That might not make sense now but if you tune in it most certainly will.
We the chance to sit down with Ryan bachelor from Crux Leaders, talking about what servant leadership looks like as a business owner coach in the context of not only becoming a better coach and a better person but also attracting more clients in the process.
This actually came to me during a coaching session that I was doing with a client friend of mine the other day and it's funny because there are things that I do that I know I'm doing that are successful. And then as we found out just the other day there are things I'm doing that I don't realize I'm doing that I'm making me successful specifically in the area of generating more referrals as it relates to paying clients and doing so in a way that's not pushy or salesy. This happens to be one of those.
We had a chance to catch up with Deirdre Beacham talking about how speaking has transformed her coaching business. And interestingly enough she gets a lot of her free speaking from a source that you might definitely be aware of but certainly something that I didn't consider when it comes to getting deals. Some good stuff.
What's the secret ingredient to generating more referrals? Something that's been staring you right in the face the entire time.
What's the one thing you've done to be successful as a coach? That's a question I get asked a fair amount of times and after 20 plus years of being a speaker in a coach here's my answer.
As someone who's been a coach since 2001 I've seen a lot of different advice and techniques that people are saying you need to do to be successful. But here's one of my personal secrets for getting higher paying clients without being pushy or salesy.
We all know that referrals are the lifeblood of our coaching practice. But what can we do to proactively generate those referrals on a consistent basis? As someone who's written 8 books myself, people sometimes ask me if I think THEM writing their first book is a big deal. And while it's NOT the entire end of the world not to have a book, I really do think that if you're going to have a serious conversation around speaking and being a top flight coach...then HAVING a book makes a lot easier.
