Catholic Forum began as a radio program in Wilmington, Delaware USA in 1939 making it the longest running Catholic discussion (non-liturgical) program in the United States. It is still on the air in the Diocese of Wilmington, but it is now available as a podcast. A new podcast debuts each Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time and includes an update of local, national and international Catholic news and a 20-22 minute interview on a topic of interest to the Catholic community of Delaware, Maryland's Eastern Shore and beyond.

On this episode of Catholic Forum, after a Dialog news brief, we will talk to local (Maryland Eastern Shore) author, Marty Mitchell, about his new book, “The Capillaries of Christ: Understanding the Part You Play in His Body.” “As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ.” (I Corinthians 12:12). Marty’s book is designed to help Christians - in all stages of life and faith - to understand what part we play in the Body of Christ.

Happy New Year! On this episode of Catholic Forum, after a news update from The Dialog, we talk with Deacon Bill White from the Diocese of Rapid City, South Dakota. Deacon Bill is the diocesan posttulator for the cause for canonization of Nicholas Black Elk (1863 - 1950). Nicholas was an Oglala Lakota medicine man who fought with his cousin, Crazy Horse, at the Battle of Little Bighorn and survived the Wounded Knee Massacre. In the early 20th century, he converted to Catholicism and was baptized. For many years he served as a catechist to the Native People. He may be the first Native American man to be a canonized saint in the Catholic Church. We learn about him when Deacon Bill White is our guest today on Catholic Forum. On this episode of Catholic Forum, after a news update from The Dialog, we talk with Pastor Mark Hansen from St. Clement's Episcopal Church in Massey, Maryland and Mr. Ed Gordon from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chestertown, Maryland about the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and how the week was started by Maryland Eastern Shore native, Father Paul Wattson, SA. Father Paul was an American priest who co-founded the Society of the Atonement with Mother Lurana White, and the Christian Unity Octave in The Episcopal Church. He was later received into the Catholic Church and is remembered as an advocate for ecumenism. His case for canonization is being promoted by the Archdiocese of New York. Founded in 1875 by Blessed Louis Brisson, the Oblates first came to the United States in the early 1900s and started their first school - Salesianum School in Wilmington, Delaware. Thus began their decades of service to the community in the Diocese of Wilmington and beyond.
