I'm not a Trotskyist but this Parenti criticism of giving our enemies ammunition by way of critique is lazy bullshit, one of the few items I disagree with Parenti on. The Soviet Union was riddled with supply chain and computational problems that don't disappear just because you don't talk about them. The Revolution Betrayed is a good and sobering book for those of us who tend to fetishize the first (and admittedly very important) socialist project.
