It is, and it's called Tadiama, Okaeri. Spring continues to drop a whole bunch of new shows and we're doing our level best to try and see all of them. This episode is another batch of first impressions for Spring 2024. The season continues to deliver a pretty mixed bag of titles, but we each found at least one show we're pretty hyped for in this episode as well as plenty of other shows that left us scratching our heads like the previously mentioned Tadaima, Okaeri. Spring is officially here and in addition to seasonal allergies we also get new seasonal anime releases! Much like allergies, some of these titles may bring tears to your eyes, but whether they're from laughter, boredom, or sadness remain to be seen. We checked out the first 14 or so new titles that dropped this season and barring a few exceptions were largely skeptical of most of what we saw. But nevertheless we've got our first batch of first impressions. We've got our first couple of romcoms, some goblin themed isekai, and a show about really attractive old people so things are off to a weird start if we ever saw one. Winter has come to an end and with is we've got another awardscast to get to. That being said this one is a little trimmed down compared to awardscasts in the past. Due to a combination of life things mostly we decided to trim down the categories for this particular season, but don't worry we still crown a BGBFG for the season. Honestly Winter 2024 was a pretty solid season for a variety of genres so if you're looking to see how your favorites stack up, or maybe which shows to go back to and finish that you dropped mid season, we've got you covered. Maybe a little later than we planned, but between a couple of shows that had to wrap up their season late, a few delays, and our own personal live we managed to put out our definitive 2023 Awardscast. This is for the whole year, so all four season of anime. As per usual we start with the more recognizable categories you might see on other awards shows before devolving into our own weird subjective stuff. Overall 2023 had a lot of heavy hitters both in new and returning titles, it was a year for bucking trends and established genres and had a couple of instant classics to boot. This title could be a reference to a lot of things in this episode? Why did we abruptly not record for almost a month? What was the plot of Maboroshi, Mari Okada's new film on Netflix about? What did we think of the latest risky live action adaptation that was of a beloved story that was Netflix Avatar the Last Airbender? As stated previously this season is mostly horny nonsense. Ok Maybe not mostly, but certainly more than average, along that there are actually quite a few solid titles out now and we've conveniently ranked them all according to our preference for you to enjoy. If you're just tuning in we explain how it works in the beginning, but this is kind of our thing. We've finally gotten to the last of first impressions for this winter season and there are a few gems left to cover as well as maybe some other titles that didn't sparkle quite as much for us. This episode has 2 new villainess titles along with several fantasy shows of varying quality, and also Bucchigiri?! which deserves its own strange shoutout. This season overall fells promising with plenty of middle of the pack titles and now we've touched on all of them so use the information we've given you wisely, and formulate your watchlist accordingly. This week is all more first impressions! It's a new season and that means we're busy watching everything that comes out and boy let us tell you, there are some wild shows this season. Winter 2024 is coming in thirsty and it might be just what you need if you're looking for something dumb to get you through the cold. We've got a pretty good mix of titles this episode, we got a lot of the fantasy stuff out of the way last week, but there's still a bit more on offer along with some passable romance and some real degenerate stuff too. But for real though we want to know. This is the first episode of a new season, Winter 2024 is here and you know that means it's time for first impressions. We've already started digging in to the new season this week and have found it to be pretty fantasy heavy with above average horniness levels, in spite of all that we seem to be enjoying this new content. Maybe we've finally lost it, but the new year has us filled with hope and there's plenty worth watching already so if you want a taste of the earliest shows to premier this year then this episode is a good place to start. For Real though this season was stacked especially at the top and we had a tough time even just narrowing down nominees. If you've never listened to one of our awards shows before, We start with the top 5 new and returning shows before moving into the more recognizable categories and ending on some of the ones we made up ourselves. There's been something for everyone this season and we're here to celebrate it, so let us know what your favorites were. The holidays are here or come and gone depending on what you celebrate, and while that always tends to mess with our upload schedule a little bit we've got a full episode for you just a little later than usual. This week we're talking about some of the biggest finale episodes to drop right after Christmas, Jujutsu Kaisen and Spy Family just to name a few. After that we've got our first peek into the titles of the new season before finally finishing out our advent watchalong, only a few days later than we maybe should be, of Spice and Wolf. Supposedly the last Hayao Miyazaki film has been released in theaters worldwide and naturally we had to see it. It's still in theaters for a few days after this episode releases if you'd like to see it for yourself, but if you'd like our thoughts before you make up your mind then we're here for you. We're keeping it fairly spoiler free but still talking about visuals, themes, story, and how it compares to other Miyazaki films so if you need a little bit more info before making up your mind then this episode is for you. This episode has some heavier topics toward the middle, so fair warning y'all. We start off light enough with some confirmation of season two of both Dangers in My Heart as well as the much anticipated Oshi No Ko but worth looking forward to, but we've got some really baseless speculation about how the second season could play out. From there we get into what the hell is going on with MAPPA and how they've been treating their animators, it's a topic we've cover before but an important one all the same. It's an ongoing conversation that bares repeating, but JuJutsu Kaisen season two seems to have pushed the pressure to a new limit. The Frieren pun is really the gift that keeps on giving, but seriously we've got a lot of ground to cover this episose and some of it does involve our favorite sad elf girl. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and Pluto both dropped on Netflix recently and are both really solid and very different titles. We've got our thoughts on them both before revisiting Frieren and discussing exactly what makes it so worth the hype. Netflix has dropped a whole bunch of shows on us in one week and while we desperately try to catch them all, we both managed to catch all of Blue Eye Samurai. It's gotten some hype online, but what did we think? There's a lot of top tier talent and a relatively unknown studio at the helm, so anything is possible. We've got a full review that's mostly spoiler free if you're thinking of giving it a shot. There are like 61 shows on our list and we watched almost every single one of em so naturally we're gonna do what we do best. If you're new to the Powercast or just forgot, we ranked a whole bunch of shows by tier and then in order within each level to give you our take on seasonal anime this fall. First impressions are done finally... mostly, so to celebrate we've got the two new FLCL titles to review. Both FLCL Grunge and FLCL Shoegaze dropped recently and we finally got a minute to see what we thought. With the former being a prequel to the original series and the latter being a sequel to FLCL Alternative, are FLCL fans eating good this year, or was it maybe shy of the glory that the original holds? We've got our take on things as well a some speculation on what may be in store for the series down the road, but that's not all! We wanted to spend some time talking about bad shows in general for no reason, we promise, as well as take a look at some reviews of much beloved titles currently airing to see if they have some valid critiques or maybe are just salty. It's a bigass season this Fall and we've got another episode dedicated completely to first impressions for new series. Fall first impressions keep coming and we're not even close to all of the new shows this season. We're waiting to talk returning titles until the powercast so in the meantime it's all first impressions all the time. We've got a little bit of everything this week, plenty of fantasy, some detectives, superheroes, masochism, and even a goofy office romance so there's sure to be a little something for every type of fan this season. Fall is here and with it brings the last bit of 90 degree weather and a whole slew of new titles for us to sink our teeth into. As we tend to with the first few episodes of the season we've got our first impressions to look forward to. We've got a couple of solid fantasy titles, an excellent racing show, and even a show about witches and boobs so there's a little something for everyone.
