Description
Success as a Christian. Success in Marriage. Success with money. That’s what we’re after. If you want that too, then you’ll love the show.
Learn to simplify, automate, multiply & get full control of the money God’s entrusted you with. So you can quit stressing about it, pay off debt & get on with your God-given purpose.
Oh and we have a different take on money than most financial experts. We aren’t going to judge you for your past mistakes and we haven’t forgotten the pain of being broke so we can relate. We believe simple always beats complicated. And we believe money isn’t the goal, but is simply a tool that can be used to fulfill what God has called us to do.
We help you spend less time thinking about money while getting better results.
The Seed Time Money podcast is where we (Bob & Linda Lotich) share the mindsets, beliefs and strategies we used to go from being debt-ridden and broke to:
- paying off $400k of debt
- eliminating all guilt and shame with money
- building multiple streams of passive income
- honoring God with our finances
- learning how to save & invest wisely
- having financial unity in our marriage
- giving $1 million by age 40
Occasionally, we interview guests like John Mark Comer, Mark Batterson, Annie F. Downs, Joshua Becker, Jamie Winship, Carlos Whittaker, Crystal Paine, Jordan Raynor, and other Biblically-minded Christian thought leaders as we seek to connect our faith with our real lives.
And if you like what you hear on the podcast, consider diving deeper with us by grabbing our award-winning book ‘Simple Money, Rich Life’ or take your spouse or church small group through our 6-week on-demand workshop 'True Financial Freedom'.

Over the last few weeks, there’s been so much talk about the Charlie Kirk tragedy. But as I’ve listened to all the commentary, I realized—no one’s talking about this. We didn’t want to make another video about what happened. We wanted to talk about what Jesus actually modeled when something unthinkable happens… and how that applies to us right now. This episode honestly challenged both of us deeply. It’s one of those conversations where you feel the tension between what feels fair… and what faith actually calls us to do. We’re not trying to debate headlines. We’re just asking—what does it look like to follow Jesus when it really costs something? Episode Takeaway: It’s easy to pray for victims. It’s supernatural to pray for the ones who caused the pain. But that’s exactly what Jesus modeled—and when we do, we invite heaven into places the world wants to keep dark. Most people think wealth is about earning more. The truth? It’s about the patterns you repeat every day. In this episode, we break down 10 specific patterns that predict whether you’ll be broke or wealthy 10–20 years from now. These aren’t obvious mistakes like “don’t buy lattes.” They’re subtle, sneaky habits that quietly lock people into financial struggle… or quietly compound into freedom. Here’s what we cover: Why overspending on status is a trap (and what to do instead). How shopping without a list bleeds your bank account. The single most profitable investment you’ll ever make (and it’s not the stock market). Why living in the wrong location costs more than you think. The mistake of copying successful people at the wrong season of their life. This is the episode I wish every 20- and 30-something could hear. But truthfully, even people in their 40s and 50s are still making these mistakes. This episode hit me hard. We cracked open 2 Kings 4—the story of the widow, her debt, and the jars of oil—and I realized it’s not just about a miracle… it’s about God’s system for provision. Most of us pray for breakthrough but miss the order: 👉 Ask 👉 Obey 👉 Sell (work the miracle) 👉 Pay debt 👉 Then live on the overflow The widow didn’t just receive money from heaven. She started what might be the first side hustle in the Bible. And her story shows us exactly why so many of us feel like God’s provision “isn’t working.” Here’s what we unpack in this conversation: The hidden business model inside the miracle of the oil jars Why saying “I have nothing” blinds you to God’s multiplication The danger of skipping God’s order for provision How our own story of business + debt mirrors the widow’s The mindset shift that turns small resources into abundance If you’ve ever wondered why God seems to bless others but not you, this episode may flip everything you believe about money and miracles upside down. Pride is sneaky. It hides behind our success. It masks itself as “spiritual maturity.” It even whispers, “Look at how humble you are.” And if we’re not careful, pride will be the very thing that takes us out. In this episode, Linda and I unpack a conversation with John Bevere that completely reframed how I see wealth, success, and following Jesus. We dive into the #1 thing that’s quietly destroying successful Christians — and why humility isn’t just a virtue, it’s survival. Here’s what we cover: Why King Uzziah’s downfall in the Old Testament still matters for every Christian leader today. How pride and religion work together to blind us spiritually. The surprising way the Apostle Paul grew more humble the more successful he became. My personal story of making more money than ever in 2015 — and how pride almost derailed me. 3 red flags that tell you success might be leading you away from God instead of toward Him. The one prayer I now pray regularly to keep my heart in check as we pursue wealth for kingdom impact. If you’ve ever asked yourself: How do I grow in success without letting pride creep in? …this episode will shake you up in the best way possible. We thought our story was set. For 13 years, we gave our age as a percentage of our income. It became who we were. People knew us as that couple. Our mortgage was paid off in 10 months. We wrote books about it. We spoke on stages about it. We shared the miracle everywhere. And then—God asked us to stop. This episode is not about numbers. It’s about obedience. About what happens when the thing God once asked you to do becomes an idol. About the courage it takes to release your identity and follow Him into a new season. Here’s what we cover: The story of giving our age, and the miracles we saw. Why it was harder to stop than to start. How God shifted us from radical giving to radical saving. The danger of clinging to formulas instead of clinging to God. The system we built from this new season (and why it might change the way you think about money forever). This isn’t a “how-to.” It’s an invitation. Ask God: What do you have for me now? This episode was eye-opening. I asked ChatGPT what keeps everyday Americans broke—and some of the answers hit way too close to home. Linda and I went through the list together and realized that many of us are quietly wasting thousands of dollars every single year without even realizing it. In this episode, we break down 10 money wasters that sneak into your life: If you take just one or two of these seriously, you could literally save hundreds of thousands of dollars over the next decade. What if being “too good” at saving and stewarding money is actually holding you back from obedience to God? In this episode, we share the story of friends who, in their leanest financial season, felt God ask them to spend way beyond what made sense. Every financial expert would’ve called it foolish—but their “irresponsible obedience” led to one of the most important divine encounters of their lives. We’ll unpack: Why sometimes God asks us to spend more instead of saving more How to know the difference between your desires and the Spirit’s leading Why true stewardship is less about your wisdom and more about your obedience Three practical questions to ask when you sense God nudging you to spend beyond reason If you’ve ever wrestled with the tension between “wise stewardship” and radical obedience, this conversation is for you. We almost missed out on an $8,000 furniture set for just $1,000 — because of one dangerous mindset: “You get what you pay for.” This episode isn’t really about chairs — it’s about how this deeply ingrained belief system can keep us from receiving what God wants to lavish on us. Grace, provision, salvation — none of them came because we “paid enough.” And if we don’t learn to think differently, we may keep scrolling right past the blessings God has for us. We dive into: The Restoration Hardware deal that exposed this limiting belief Why the Kingdom of God doesn’t follow “earthly” formulas How to discern between scams and supernatural provision The mindset shift that could unlock the next level of your life How curiosity (not fear) positions you to receive And yes, we get real about marriage, furniture, and being shrewd with money — all while staying Kingdom-focused. 👇Resources we mentioned: Our book: Simple Money, Rich Life — Get a free copy (just cover shipping): http://seedtime.com/free Facebook Marketplace — Yes, really. In today’s episode, we’re telling the full, raw, and unfiltered story of how one joking sentence I said over a decade ago blocked something we'd been praying, fasting, and believing for: a child. After 9 years of waiting, trying, and wondering, the Holy Spirit revealed something that shifted everything — not only for our family, but also for how we see our words, faith, and even finances. Here’s what we cover: The exact prayer that broke a 9-year block (and how quickly God moved after) Why your words matter more than you think — especially in areas like money, health, and family How we unknowingly came into agreement with lies — and what the Bible says about this Why asking God what you've agreed with might be the most important thing you do today How this idea translates to your financial situation and mindset Whether you’re struggling with finances, waiting for a promise, or wondering why certain things never seem to break through — this episode is for you. Try This: After listening, ask the Holy Spirit: “Is there anything I’ve come into agreement with that I need to come out of?” Mentioned Resources: Our book: Simple Money, Rich Life — Get your free copy here: http://seedtime.com/free Scripture References: Proverbs 18:21 Mark 11:23 James 4:3 John 15:7 Romans 10: Ezekiel 17 1 John 5:14-15 Philippians 4:6 Want to go deeper? What if the hardest thing you're walking through right now is actually where God is working the most - even when you can't see it? A few months ago everything was normal in our family. Linda's mom cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner, we all gathered around the table, and life felt predictable. But two weeks later everything changed forever when she got diagnosed with a tumor and went to heaven just four months after that. And here's what I discovered - while you're focused on what's not happening, you're missing what God is actually doing in the situation. Because I used to think grief was just sadness, but it's actually more like a circle that never shrinks - your life just grows bigger around it. So today I'm sharing five specific lessons that completely changed how I see God, community, prayer, and relationships. Because if you're walking through loss, struggling with finances, dealing with marriage issues, or facing any kind of difficulty, these insights could transform how you experience God's presence in the middle of it all. This is one of the most personal, emotional episodes we’ve ever recorded. And if you’re grieving, or have someone in your life who is, I hope this encourages you like only God can. What if I told you the same ounce of gold that could buy 400 loaves of bread today… could’ve done the same 2,000 years ago? In this episode, we break down the ONE chart that completely shifted how I think about saving, inflation, and long-term wealth. You’ll learn: Why I now see gold as a defensive asset in our portfolio How inflation has quietly destroyed the purchasing power of your dollars The story of bread, gold, and a century of financial erosion My favorite tool to buy gold automatically with as little as $10 Why I think gold might be the most biblical investment on earth What we’re doing to protect our family’s future If you're sitting on too much cash or wondering how to hedge against chaos—you’ll want to hear this. What do you do when life punches you so hard, you don’t think you’ll ever get up? That’s what we talked about in this raw, holy, and surprisingly hope-filled conversation with pastor and author Levi Lusko. After losing his 5-year-old daughter and recently his father, Levi brings more than theology—he brings lived truth. This episode is a deep dive into what it actually means to move forward when it feels impossible. We covered: What Levi learned from the Statue of David that changed the way he views grief forever Why “spiraling” might not be the enemy—it might be the invitation The difference between being angry at God and angry with God How to manage a panic attack when everything feels like too much What most people get wrong about success, wealth, and midlife This conversation hit hard. In this final episode of our “Prosperity Gospel, Poverty Gospel, and The Gospel” series, we’re diving into the forgotten commands of scripture that every Christian should know when it comes to money. We’re not just talking about how to make more or give more — we’re talking about how to think biblically about money, handle it with eternity in mind, and why most believers are stuck in financial cycles that don’t reflect the heart of God. We break down 1 Timothy 6:17–19 and show how Paul gives us a framework for wealth that isn’t about prosperity or poverty — it’s about purpose. What if I told you that nothing you own is actually yours—and that this truth could radically change how you think about money, stress less, and give more? In this episode, we dig into one of the most transformational shifts in our Christian financial journey: moving from ownership to stewardship. This isn’t just a spiritual concept—it’s the antidote to both the prosperity gospel and the poverty gospel. We break down: Why guilt fades when you realize you're a steward The 3 principles Jesus taught that flip your finances upside-down How estate sales (yes, really) shook us into reevaluating our relationship with stuff Why multiplication is God’s agenda, not just accumulation What “assets under management” means—and why it beats calculating net worth The parable of the talents, fast fashion, and what bike shorts taught us about ethics and obedience This one gets real. In this episode, we’re going deep on a topic the Church either glamorizes or demonizes—but rarely handles biblically: money. We’re unpacking Exodus, Jesus, and even Tesla stock (yep)—to wrestle through a question that’s been tripping up believers for decades: “Is wealth inherently evil… or is it just a tool?” Here’s what we found: Why the Israelites’ gold became both a golden calf and a golden lampstand What Jesus really meant when He said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” The shocking contrast between how the Old and New Testament describe wealthy people The heart posture that turns a blessing into an idol And why generosity, not guilt, is the actual fruit of spiritual maturity This isn’t financial advice—it’s soul-searching. If you've ever felt tension about having too much… or too little… this episode will give you clarity. 📚 Resources Mentioned: Exodus 12:35–36 – Israelites plundering Egypt’s wealth Exodus 32 – The golden calf Exodus 35 – The Tabernacle offerings Matthew 6:21 – “Where your treasure is…” Philippians 4 – Learning to abound and abase Galatians 5:22-23 – Fruit of the Spirit (including “goodness” = generosity) Our book: Simple Money, Rich Life (Get a free copy—just cover shipping!) 🔗 Grab your free book here: http://seedtime.com/free 📩 If this message stirred something in you, share it with a friend. In Part 2 of our “The prosperity gospel, the poverty gospel, and the truth most Christians miss” series, we dive into some of Jesus’ most controversial teachings on wealth. You’ve heard “sell everything,” “camel through the eye of a needle,” and “blessed are the poor,” but what if we’ve been misunderstanding who He was talking to and why? In this episode, we unpack: Why Jesus told the rich young ruler to sell everything—and why He didn’t tell Zacchaeus the same thing. The real reason wealth can be dangerous (it’s not what you think). Why Joseph of Arimathea, Nicodemus, and a group of wealthy women were never asked to give everything away. The parable that proves Jesus wasn’t against being wealthy—but was deeply concerned about our heart posture. Why abundance is meant to be shared—and how shopping, gardening, or even buying sunglasses can become worship. A fresh, biblical perspective that helps you steward what God has given you without shame, guilt, or greed. This might be the most important conversation we’ve had about money, faith, and the Bible. For years, we've wrestled with it. One side says God wants you rich. The other says being poor makes you holy. But neither seemed to fully line up with Scripture. What if both extremes missed the point? In this episode, we kick off a 5-part series where we break down: What the Prosperity Gospel gets right—and dangerously wrong How the Poverty Gospel subtly creeps in as "humility" The parable that changed everything for us The biblical third way no one talks about enough How prayer can shift false teachers more than criticism ever could Why stewardship (not ownership) is the core financial principle of Scripture How even Mother Teresa modeled biblical abundance through simplicity If you’ve ever struggled to reconcile your faith with your finances… this episode is for you. In this episode, we answer YOUR questions about how we’re using AI—personally, spiritually, and professionally. We’re not here to debate whether AI is “good” or “evil.” We’re here to share how we're using it practically—as a business tool, a parenting helper, a writing assistant, a garden coach, and even a wardrobe consultant. And yep, Linda's officially a soft summer. We get into the nitty gritty: The custom GPT we built for flipping items on eBay The podcast producer GPT that writes our show notes How AI helps with planning RV trips and killing poison ivy Why we believe AI may become humanity’s greatest idol—and how to stay grounded in God’s Word Plus, Linda’s surprisingly useful fashion hacks (involving NASCAR outfits) We talk faith, tech, and real life with all its messiness and nuance. And yes, we still believe God’s revelation always beats information. If you’ve been wondering what does this actually look like in daily life?, this is the episode. I sat down with Dr. Shane Enete—professor at Biola University, PhD in personal financial planning, total Jesus-loving money nerd, and author of Whole Heart Finances: A Jesus Centered Guide to Managing Money with Joy. We dug into a fascinating study of ultra-wealthy families (yes, $25M+ net worth) and uncovered a surprising truth. We talk about hedonic adaptation, generosity as a spiritual thermostat, and what your savings account might be saying about your heart. In this episode, you’ll learn: The biological and spiritual reasons why wealth never satisfies How to spot when your heart is starting to trust money more than God Why generosity is the fastest way back to peace What $25M families regret (hint: it’s not about the stock market) A brilliant money framework: acquisition, use, and management—and which one dominates your life Why savings isn’t evil, but hoarding might be How to know when you’ve moved from stewardship into idolatry Mentioned Resources: Whole Heart Finances by Dr. Shane Enete - http://wholeheartfinances.com 2 Corinthians 9 – Biblical metaphor of seed (consume vs. plant) Dr. Eileen Gallo’s Money Dimensions Framework: Acquisition, Use, Management Book: Communicating for a Change by Andy Stanley - http://amzn.to/3JF0L0R BONUS: Ever dreamt of hanging out with us for 6 weeks in your small group or church? Fantastic podcast. I have been listening for almost a year and it has been so encouraging to me. I'm not a money person, but I don't feel like I need to be in order to listen. It's a very approachable listen, with good conversation and engaging topics. Highly recommend that you give them a chance.
Tough episode. Podcaster describes God's mulitplication mindset that seems very simliar to the sales pitch to every MLM scheme. Scary that we are now using it for "God's design", cuz real life proves MLM can't work for everyone. Secondly, the co-podcaster decides that a cherrypicked Bible verse proves climate change is false. However, anyone can cherry pick verses to prove almost anything. Scary.
