Mary & Blake discuss everything YOU had say about to Outlander episode 7.15 - Written In My Own Hearts Blood. In this episode, we discuss the powerful montage of past Outlander scenes, which left many listeners' jaws on the floor. Callers weigh in on specific moments, like the title card featuring Frank and Brianna looking at the painting with Jamie and Claire, Roger being labeled an "idiot" by one Scottish-accented caller, and Claire's decision-making.  This is A CAN'T MISS episode as epic tangents emerge, such as discussions of Catholic church experiences and the many national cat holidays, and wild MUFASA ride at the end of the show.  Also in this episode: We complain about having technical issues during the recording and had to restart the episode. They played and discussed the song "Bye Bye" from the Mufasa album, which their young lad is fond of. Listeners provided feedback on the latest Outlander episode, with opinions ranging from very positive to quite critical. Several listeners commented on the pacing and storytelling of the season, feeling it has been a bit rushed or disjointed at times. The acting, particularly from Sam Heughan and Catriona Balfe, was widely praised in the episode. Gloria from Salem's cat steals the show. There was discussion around Jamie's reaction to Claire being shot and his willingness to abandon the war effort to be with her. Listeners debated whether certain character decisions, like Ian's actions, felt true to their established personalities. The title card featuring Frank and Brianna looking at the painting was a highlight for many. We discuss holiday greetings and when it's appropriate to stop saying "Happy New Year." We end the episode  with and ALL TIME  sing along to more songs from the Mufasa soundtrack.   SUBSCRIBE TO OUTLANDER CAST: AN OUTLANDER PODCAST Apple Podcasts YouTube Spotify CONNECT WITH MARY & BLAKE  Like Our Facebook Page Join Our Facebook Group Join The #NerdClan Follow On Twitter  Follow On Instagram  UNLOCK BONUS EPISODES, PREMIUM PODCASTS & MORE -- www.JoinTheNerdClan.com Sign up  HERE for Blake's Book Club: DRUMS OF AUTUMN CHECK OUT THE BEST MERCH ON THE PLANET: THE MARY & BLAKE STORE Shop for all of our podcasts, sayings, and listener inspired designs in one easy place. In this episode, we discuss Jamie's dramatic actions to protect Claire after she is accidentally shot, the resolution of the storylines involving William, Lord John, and Ian, as well as the continued mystery surrounding Mandy, the "creepy weird kid". We also analyze the emotional scenes between Jamie and Claire, praising the strong performances and cinematography. Additionally, we touch on the appearance of Frank's book, speculating on its significance, and the overall momentum building towards the season finale. Also in this episode: There was a lot of discussion about the character Mandy, the "creepy, weird kid", and how her behavior contrasted with the main characters. The montage at the beginning of the episode, featuring scenes from past seasons, was praised as a great way to set the tone and revisit key moments. The rescue scene for William involving Lord John and Ian was considered a bit basic, with suggestions it could have been more tense and dramatic. The relationship and interactions between Buck, Roger, and their "family" were highlighted as strong moments in the episode. The final scene with Jamie praying over the injured Claire was praised for the lack of music, creating a raw and authentic feeling. There was discussion about the potential fate of the character Jane, with the hosts speculating she may not survive the season. We commented on the strong performances, particularly from Sam Heughan as Jamie, and the effective use of lighting and cinematography in key scenes. There was anticipation about the momentum and plot threads heading into the season finale, including Claire's surgery, Jamie's resignation, and the rescue of Jane. Mary & Blake discuss everything YOU had say about to Outlander episode 7.14 - Ye Dinna Get Used To It. In this episode, discuss Lord John Grey's eye injury and the surgery performed by Claire to fix it. We also touch on the introduction of new characters like Percival Wainwright and the Marquis de Lafayette, and how they fit into the overall narrative. Brianna's skills with a shotgun during a confrontation at Lallybroch are highlighted, as well as the growing relationship between William, Jane, and Fanny, and how it helps viewers connect more with William's character. Also in this episode: The hosts express disappointment that the show has not yet included the bonus version of the theme song, speculating it may be saved for the season finale. Blake feels bad for Sophie Skelton's character Brianna, noting she's had to deal with "a bunch of junk" this season compared to other characters like Roger. We analyze the introduction of Lord John Gray's stepbrother Percival Wainwright, discussing how the show made it challenging to track who he was and whether viewers should trust him. Mary points out the interesting cultural context around Brianna casually mentioning having a gun, noting how that would be viewed differently in 18th century Scotland versus modern-day America. We praise the development of the relationship between William, Jane, and Fanny, agreeing it has helped make William's character more compelling and relatable. Blake expresses frustration with the show's overuse of historical figure cameos, feeling they are being shoehorned in without serving the larger narrative. We engage in a lengthy discussion about the visceral reactions people can have to depictions of eyes and other body parts, using examples from films like Black Swan and Hostel. Mary shares a personal anecdote about playfully teasing her male friends as a teenager by flicking their Adam's apples, which Blake finds deeply unsettling. We analyze how Jamie and Claire's behavior towards Lord John Gray seems out of character, speculating it may stem from unresolved guilt or embarrassment over their past relationship. Mary & Blake recap and give reaction to Outlander episode 7.14 - Ye Dinna Get Used To It. In this episode, we praise Diana Gabaldon's handling of the writing, discuss the character development, particularly highlighting Lord John Gray's encounters and the relationship between William and Jane. We also touch on the pacing of the episode, noting that while it may have felt like "heavy lifting" to set up future events, Gabaldon executed it with levity and care. We also debate cheese and mold, share our theories and predictions about where the story might be headed, particularly in regards to the ongoing conflict with the British. Also in this episode: Praise for Diana Gabaldon's writing:  this episode required a lot of "heavy lifting" to set up future plot points, but they praise Gabaldon's execution, noting she was able to do so with levity and care. Analysis of Lord John Gray's character: Lord John's encounters with various people from his past, and how this is impacting his emotional state and allegiances, comparing it to listening to "tortured poets." Appreciation for the Jane-William dynamic:  the interesting relationship between Jane and William, noting how Jane serves as a foil to William's attempts to redefine himself after learning Jamie is his biological father. Speculation on Jane's fate: The hosts theorize that Jane's bold actions, such as killing a British captain, will likely lead to her demise by the season's end, and how this will profoundly impact William. Critique of the Rob Cameron storyline: boredom with this storyline, feeling it was "shoehorned in" just to get Bree back to the 18th century, and lacking a sense of urgency. Appreciation for the Ian-Rachel scene: thel ighting and character dynamics in the scene where Ian teaches Rachel how to do war paint, noting the symbolic significance of the candles behind them. Debate over historical accuracy: Claire's lack of knowledge about historical figures like Charles Lee, and speculate on how Jamie's relationship with George Washington might impact the story. Personal preferences and anecdotes: lighthearted discussion about their personal preferences, such as Blake's dislike for blue cheese and Mary's love of bangs. In this episode, we discuss overall enjoyment, then dive into listener feedback covering diverse perspectives - praise for character badassery, criticism of a "cringy" love scene, and mixed reactions to wedding scenes. Discussing historical context and moral complexities of certain characters, we also recount Mary's humorous birthing class anecdote highlighting Blake's struggles. Key topics include pacing, cohesion, adaptation challenges, and Mary's clever hot chocolate analogy. Plus we have a little love for The Leftovers.  Also in this episode: We discuss the unique and endearing relationship between characters Ian and Rachel. Some listeners expressed discomfort or criticism around certain storylines, such as the length and believability of the Ian and Rachel wedding night scene, as well as confusion over the resolution of the Jerry McKenzie storyline for show-only viewers. The historical context and moral complexities surrounding characters like Lord John and William, who were slave owners, acknowledging the importance of understanding the time period. Mary shared a humorous personal anecdote about attending a birthing class with Blake, highlighting the awkward and uncomfortable moments they experienced. Listeners provided feedback on the cohesion and pacing of the episode, with some feeling it was more scattered compared to previous episodes with interwoven plotlines. We're encouraged to read the novella "A Leaf on the Wind of All Hollows" to better understand the Roger and his father storyline, and mentioned a two-part study on the topic available on their YouTube channel. We expressed hope for better cohesion and more satisfying storytelling in future episodes, while also discussing the importance of letting some mysteries remain unsolved, referencing the theme song from the show "The Leftovers." The podcast concluded with a playful reference to the song "Let the Mystery Be" by Iris Dement, emphasizing the theme of mystery and intrigue in Outlander. Mary & Blake recap and give reaction to Outlander episode 7.13 - Hello Goodbye. In this episode, we discuss Rick Rankin's performance in the scenes between Roger and his long-lost father, noting the nuanced character work. We also marvel at Rachel's unexpected boldness on her wedding night to Ian, a heartwarming moment in the episode. Further, we applaud the well-paced, balanced approach that allows viewers to fully immerse themselves in character moments, such as the awkward yet tender Quaker wedding ceremony. However, we still express frustration over the lack of urgency surrounding the search for Lord John Grey, a character who has done so much for the Fraser family. Also in this episode: Newcomer Writers and Experienced Director: The episode was written by first-time Outlander writers Madeline Brestal and Evan McGahey, while the director, Jan Matthys, has an extensive background in shows like The Last Kingdom and Vikings: Valhalla. Roger's Reunion with His Father: we praise Rick Rankin's performance in the scenes between Roger and his long-lost father, noting the nuanced character work and Roger's struggle to balance his desire to reveal their connection with the need to get his father to safety. Ian and Rachel's Quaker Wedding: we find the Quaker wedding ceremony, with its awkwardness and time lapse, to be a delightful and well-executed character moment, providing insight into the Quaker tradition. Rachel's Unexpected Boldness: We marvel at Rachel's unexpected boldness and forwardness on her wedding night with Ian, noting that it provides an interesting contrast to her Quaker upbringing. Lack of Urgency Surrounding Lord John Grey: we express frustration over the lack of urgency from the characters, particularly Jamie, to find and help the injured Lord John Grey, a character who has done so much for the Fraser family. Bree's Confrontation with Rob Cameron: we praise Bree's character for standing up to Rob Cameron and the misogynistic undertones in the cops' handling of the situation, while also noting the potential consequences for her family. Production Details and Comparisons: Blake notes the outdoor shots in the episode, comparing them to the visual style of The Last Kingdom, and appreciate the use of the time travel sound effect as a consistent storytelling device. Jemmy's Memory Abilities: Mary highlights Jemmy's impressive memory skills, which are reminiscent of his grandmother Claire's, and how this contributes to the overall narrative. Missed Opportunities: Blake identifies a few missed opportunities, such as the lack of more scenes between Roger and his father and the absence of the song "Hello, Goodbye" during a relevant moment in the episode. In this episode, we discuss Lord John Grey's confession to Jamie about his intimate relationship with Claire, and Jamie's violent reaction. They also explore William's tumultuous day, marked by outbursts and interactions with a prostitute. The appearance of George Washington and the parallels drawn between his relationship with Jamie and William's personal struggles are another key topic. The frequent use of the word "buggered" throughout the episode, which we felt was a tad overused. The lack of focus on the Roger and Bree storyline, and speculation that it may be given more attention in future episodes. An appreciation for the parallel between Jamie and William's messy choices and how they intersect, leading to their confrontation.

Mary & Blake recap and give reaction to Outlander episode 7.11 - A Hundredweight Of Stones. In this episode, we discuss key moments like Claire's marriage to Lord John, Bree's frying pan heroics, and William learning Jamie is his father. We praise character-driven scenes, like Lord John's "white stag" speech, while critiquing rushed pacing. Speculation swirls around Captain Richardson's offer to Claire to spy on her husband, potentially setting up a season-ending cliffhanger. Also in this episode: Claire marries Lord John Grey and they consummate the marriage, though the show does not depict the intimate details. This raises questions about the impact on Claire's relationship with Jamie. Roger and Buck continue their search for Roger's father, with Roger providing historical context about his father's wartime experiences. However, the dialogue feels a bit expository at times. Bree demonstrates her resourcefulness and bravery by using a frying pan to defend herself, echoing the "Rapunzel" fairytale. This is a standout moment that the hosts praise. At Lord John's party, the reveal that William is Jamie's son creates a dramatic confrontation, with William angrily rejecting Lord John. This sets up further conflict to come. The episode's title "A Hundredweight of Stones" is seen as an apt metaphor for the emotional burdens and weight the characters are carrying, though the show doesn't always give these moments enough time to breathe. Director Lisa Clarke and writer Sarah H. Haught bring their own styles to the episode, with mixed results in terms of pacing and character development. Lord John's poignant "white stag" speech, reflecting on the fleeting nature of love and happiness, is highlighted as a powerful, character-defining moment. We are divided on the writing choice to have Lord John bluntly reveal to William that Jamie is his father, seeing it as either an organic character moment or a forced plot device. Speculation arises that Captain Richardson's offer to Claire to spy could set up a major season-ending cliffhanger, separating Claire and Jamie once again. Mary & Blake discuss everything YOU had say about to Outlander episode 7.10 - Brotherly Love. In this episode, listeners share their thoughts on storylines like the Bug subplot, the pacing of the episode, and standout moments like the scenes between Jamie and Ian. We reference key events and character interactions from the episode, including Claire's reaction to the news of Jamie's presumed death at sea, the reunion between Ian and Rachel, and Roger's realization about his father. Also in this episode: Some felt the pacing was rushed and certain storylines, like the "bug" storyline, could have been cut. Others appreciated the emotional moments, especially the scenes between Jamie and Ian. Listeners had varied opinions on the transition between the different timelines and storylines. Some felt it was jarring, while others saw it as a callback to season 3's structure. The performance of the actors, particularly Caitriona Balfe's portrayal of Claire's grief, was widely praised. Listeners were moved by the emotional impact of Ian's death. There was discussion around the decision to film the Philadelphia scenes in Liverpool rather than on location in Philadelphia. The hosts explained the practical considerations behind this choice. Listeners debated the significance of certain lines and references, such as Ian's use of the phrase "on your left," which some felt was a nod to the Avengers films The hosts and listeners engaged in lighthearted banter about Midwestern salads and the concept of "semi-long time" listeners. Listeners expressed excitement about the continued development of Roger's storyline and his connection to his father, as well as the potential for Jamie's "ghost" to appear in future episodes. Mary & Blake recap and give reaction to Outlander episode 7.10 - Brotherly Love. In this episode, we discuss the powerful opening scene, key plot points, and character moments, including Ian, Claire, and Roger's storylines. We praise the performances, particularly David Berry as Lord John Grey, and debate Claire's decision to accept Lord John's proposal. We also speculate about the implications of Roger's father potentially appearing in the past, and the laughable end result of Arch Bug... Also in this episode: The episode was very eventful, with many familiar faces and big things happening, including hellos, goodbyes, and surprises. The opening scene with Ian senior was praised as a beautifully written, directed, and acted moment that set the emotional tone for the episode. The pacing of the episode was criticized as feeling rushed, with Claire jumping into spy activities and surgery very quickly after arriving in Philadelphia. The Arch Bug storyline was considered poorly constructed and executed, with the villain's actions and motivations lacking coherence. The introduction of Dougal and the potential time travel implications with Roger's father were intriguing plot points that generated discussion. Rachel's manner of speaking, with her use of "thee" and "thy," was noted as taking some viewers out of the immersion, despite being historically accurate. Lord John Gray's quick thinking and proposal to Claire were seen as well-executed moments that advanced the plot. The emotional impact of Claire's grief and the flashbacks to her memories with Jamie were praised as powerful and authentic. Mary & Blake discuss everything YOU had say about to Outlander episode 7.09 - Unfinished Business. In this episode, listeners share feedback on the return to Scotland, new actress as Jenny, pacing, and book-to-show changes. The hosts engage in lively discussions, sometimes playfully disagreeing. Plus we discuss the mystery about Midwestern "salads." Also in this episode: There were mixed opinions on the new actress playing Jenny, with some feeling she was a softer version of the character, while others thought she did a good job. Many listeners enjoyed the emotional reunion scenes between the Murrays, especially the conversations between young Ian and his parents. Some viewers found the reason for Claire leaving Scotland to go to America (to help Lord John's nephew) to be unconvincing or not well explained. There were comments about the pacing feeling a bit off, with the show moving quickly from Scotland to the next location. Listeners had differing opinions on Roger's internal monologues, with some finding them abrupt and unnecessary. The surprise appearances at the door, particularly Brian Fraser opening for Roger, were highlights for many viewers. There was a humorous discussion about the "salads" that are common in the Midwest, which are not actually salads but more like gelatin and fruit dishes.   SUBSCRIBE TO OUTLANDER CAST: AN OUTLANDER PODCAST Apple Podcasts YouTube Spotify CONNECT WITH MARY & BLAKE  Like Our Facebook Page Join Our Facebook Group Join The #NerdClan Follow On Twitter  Follow On Instagram  UNLOCK BONUS EPISODES, PREMIUM PODCASTS & MORE -- www.JoinTheNerdClan.com Sign up  HERE for Blake's Book Club: DRUMS OF AUTUMN CHECK OUT THE BEST MERCH ON THE PLANET: THE MARY & BLAKE STORE Shop for all of our podcasts, sayings, and listener inspired designs in one easy place. so I've decided that now I've seen this few times already ..and can watch it many times after ... that the first 3-4 episodes are about the war ending , claire and frank trying to live life with Briana ( even though she doesn't feel like she loves him the same anymore),the death of BJR/ and frank-- how Brianna deals with the aftermath of it, how Claire deals with Brianna dropping out of school as she hasn't felt the same , and in between this all.. of how amongst this, jaimie still comes up and as far as she coukd know he isn't alive anymore, and then dealing with Roger coming back.to get his American Xmas but not just because that but be cause wholeheartedly he is so much a historian. He couldn't help himself and found out more ...more about jaimie . Then, while this is happening jaimie is living his life on the other side . So, its like there's a theme in this 13 episode season. second season was in two halves and you could literally say that. The first half about them being in F

just have been thinking on a future droughtlander podcast for us.... ..suggestion for future podcast episodes-- when we are in droughtlander phase ....what if you guy did some shows on the deleted scenes of any of the seasons ? Then give ratings or something ...another too I've been thinking of is...what if you were to do a lesson or few on like who belongs to who-- like how roger connects to Geillis?- how fiona and and aunt connect to to the stones? - like family trees. Cause now I've been rewatching the seasons and these questions pop to me and I know some of these answers are within reading the books but probably are in the companion books
