Recent atheist popularizer Richard Dawkins (and author of The God Delusion) recently stated that he was a cultural Christian, but at the same time is thankful people are becoming less religious while simultaneously complaining that Christianity is declining in Europe. Will has chosen to listen and respond to this in today's episode.
In this episode of The Church Split Will and Brian are joined by special guest Will Compere to discuss infant damnation and the teachings of the early church regarding Original Sin. Compere has studied this topic specifically in regards to the early church and we are privileged to have him on. Checkout Laymen Bible Lounge if you want to watch more of his content.
In this episode Will discusses the end times predictions regarding the April 8, 2024 eclipse. Is there any merit to these claims?
Will responds to Andrew Klavan's statements regarding Ben Shapiro and Jordan Peterson not knowing Jesus.
In this episode Brian and Will discuss the recent debate between Dr. White and Dr. Flowers regarding Unconditional Election and John 6. Due to the length of the debate they will be discussing the cross examination section of the debate.
Will interviews authors Chuck and Ashley Elliott about their work on helping people work through tragic life situations from a Christian perspective.
We interview friend of the channel, pastor, musician, composer, and budding theologian Justin Baldwin. He's from the Pentecostal Holiness movement and has left legalism behind and has been pursing creating theologically correct music. We discuss his philosophy with creating music in the age of CCM and how he uses scripture and Biblical truths to exemplify correct theology in the music he creates.
Pastor Bobby Leonard with Bible Baptist Tabernacle makes a shocking (and immoral) statement regarding sexual assault. The man states if a woman is wearing shorts or pants, as is assaulted, that the man should go free because "a man is a man". This disgusting tirade has sparked much attention, protests, and others to begin speaking out. In this episode, Will discusses the horrific statements.
With the rise of #BaalGate the topic of "infant damnation" has come up a LOT. Which means passages like Romans 5:12 and Original Sin are taking a strong position front and center. Today, Brian and Will dive into Romans 5:12 to examine the teaching on whether or not babies are imputed with Adam's guilt, inherit sin, or are born sinful. This is a follow up episode to Brian's on Psalm 51:5 (episode 216).
Renowned Pastor Alistair Begg advises grandparent to attend grandchild's trans-wedding and receives a lot of backlash. What can we learn from this controversy? Was this an overreaction? Was Alistair correct? Will discusses this issue in this episode.
In this episode Will and Brian discuss the recent controversy regarding Warren McGrew's statements on Soteriology 101 where he compared Calvinists to Molech Worshippers. This controversy has been affectionately entitled: Baal Gate. Other channels have attacked Warren demanding he repent, others have stood by and defended his comments. Were his comments all that bad? What's going on here? Let's discuss it.
We respond to deconstructionist/atheist Kristi Burke's video on "5 Bible Passages That Caused Me To Lose My Faith". In this second part of our two part series we respond to her commentary on Deuteronomy 22:28-29, Deuteronomy20:10-18, and John 3:16 and why those passages led her to question the validity of scripture, Jesus, and Christianity. Yes, we said John 3:16 is what she is claiming led her AWAY from Christianity.
We respond to deconstructionist/atheist Kristi Burke's video on "5 Bible Passages That Caused Me To Lose My Faith". In this first part of our two part series we respond to her commentary on Romans 9:16-24 and Psalm 137:9 and why those passages led her to question the validity of scripture, Jesus, and Christianity.
In this episode Will talks to Dr. Tim Stratton about his latest work on the Free Thinking Argument which is used to argue for God's existence along with free will in general. In addition, they discuss the heated debates which take place in the apologetics community, the need for apologetics, and how all this applies to the next generation. You will not want to miss this episode.
In this episode of The Church Split Dr. Pritchett (of Trinity Radio and Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary) joins Will to discuss why churches tend to be terrible at hiring pastors and how they aren't doing themselves any favors if these trends continue.
Is it really religious freedom for the Church of Satan to put up a Satanic Idol? Should this be respected under the first amendment? These concepts will be explored in this episode.
Dan, a friend of the show, reconstructed Christian from the IFB, and combat veteran describes his journey through early childhood IFB, into the military, and then post-military with Christianity.  Dan describes how seeing true evil in combat and finally getting good answers to hard theological questions helped him reconstruct his faith in Jesus. You will enjoy this powerful interview!
Natalie is the Executive Director Berean Holiness, a nonprofit organization on the mission of guiding believers out of fear and shame and into the gospel of grace. She came out of the Independent, Trinitarian, Pentecostal, Holiness church and has been the target of many Pentecostal Holiness sermons. Natalie promotes reconstruction and true Biblical Christianity by leaving the man made standards of legalism.
Will and Brian review Textus Receptus only debate between James White and Peter Van Kleek. What makes this debate so interesting is Van Kleek presupposes the TR-Only position as his argument. James White, a self-proclaimed presuppositionalist, didn't quite know what to do with this used in this context.  We let White define presuppositionalism and respond.
Hyles Anderson College invites two men for a creation seminar, then find out after the fact from the outrage of some that the men that presented have the wrong denomination, Bible translation, and hair length. In a perfect example of the IFB caving to the mob as we see in much of cancel culture today, Will responds to Hyles Anderson College President's article and video apologizing for this.

Very appropriate to point out how White has heard, but not learned.

I wonder if he would be okay with killing an abortion physician in order to protect the unborn. 🤔

I love how he speaks plainly, rather than altering his voice as if he was doing a dramatic reading.

This episode demonstrated how worthless Secular Humanism is, and how Matt Dillahunty doesn't live according to it.

The "reformed" view of responsibility is something else. It's like saying we are responsible for how we are born.

I have written a commentary on the entire Bible, and have no idea what atonement theory I subscribe to. 😄 Or at least I don't know what it's called.

The word "destroy" has more than one meaning, so you can't just take one meaning while dismissing the others.

1:03:00 The sword cuts both ways. If people don't voice why they resigned the congregation will only hear the side of the pastor. People are best at representing themselves.
