Counter-Conditioning

2021-12-3001:04:14

Jaymee & Lacee close out the year with Sam Harris impressions and conscientious objections to societal norms. Lacee births the phrase "counter-conditioning" to describe the act of defying multigenerational habitual patterns, and Jaymee drops a few postmodern-Buddhist freestyle rants. The couple also figure out on air whether the LITA podcast will continue with the upcoming return of the Mystical/Cynical podcast in January 2022. So get ready to slow the fuck down for an hour as we painstakingly remove the splinters and claws of samsara, one homegrown realization at a time. We would additionally like to wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thank you for your attention this past year, and for making our conversations a valued part of your life.
In this divine feminine charged episode w/ Jaymee's partner & manager Lacee, the two break down how to spiritualize PMS, how sex can evolve in healthy relationship, the importance of assertiveness as well as apology, and what part meditation plays in maintaining overall health and happiness.
Q&A w/ Austin.

Q&A w/ Austin.

Jaymee and Austin spend an additional hour answering questions and addressing topics presented by listeners.
Austin's story.

Austin's story.

2021-08-2956:46

Austin White was a former client of Jaymee's in 2017. Leaving behind a trail of destruction fueled by addiction and long-standing emotional wounds, Austin serendipitously entered the treatment center Jaymee co-founded after leading police on a high speed pursuit in Santa Barbara while in a manic state. They instantly began an unbelievable journey of healing and spiritual growth that led to Austin becoming Jaymee's predecessor at the center where they originally met and did their profound work together. Austin vulnerably shares his dramatic and heartwarming story of spiritual awakening with us all, so much so that you can hear his voice tremble.

Rob Bell is an American author, speaker, and former pastor known for his books challenging traditional Christian views. He’s a New York Times Bestselling author of fourteen books, including the bestseller 'Love Wins'. Rob and Jaymee meet for the first time and sparks fly, which set the stage for a highly engaging (and hilarious) conversation on the nature of God, the mechanism of belief, the subversive nature of joy, making friends with fear, the utility of nostalgia and what inspires him today. ROB BELL: www.robbell.comLITA PODCAST: hosted, produced, edited and music by Jaymee Carpenter. Interested in Mentorship with Jaymee?email: lacee@loveistheauthor.com to set up a free consultation,or visit: www.loveistheauthor.com/mentorship SPONSORS: TOTALLY BLOWN (www.totallyblown.us)RAUM GOODS (www.raumgoods.com)INDIAN LODGE ROAD (www.indianlodgeroad.com) YERBA MADRE (www.guayaki.com)VALLEY OF THE MOON (www.shorturl.at/dCVh2)Special thanks to Matt and Jess Meyer for hosting this recording at their beautiful home, and Matt for the episode cover photo.THiS SHOW is a LABOR of LOVE. Episode 117 - Adam Goldberg

2025-09-1202:32:43

What do Dazed And Confused, Saving Private Ryan, A Beautiful Mind, Zodiac and the sitcom Friends have in common? Adam Goldberg, who’s been a working actor in Hollywood now for over three decades contributing memorable roles (and catch phrases) to some of the most iconic films in cinema history. In this 2 1/2 hour conversation with Jaymee, Adam shares his gratitude as well as some of the pitfalls of working in the industry, everything from the highs of being hand selected by legendary directors like Stephen Speilberg and Richard Linklater, to the lows of developing an anxiety disorder from playing some of his most important roles, and the creative straightjacket of being typecast. He may have even (inadvertently) pissed off Quentin Tarantino somewhere along the way. Jaymee sits down with his spiritual teacher and guru, Lama Lhanang Rinpoche, for a deep conversation on how every word and thought functions as prayer, the difference between ordinary love and unconditional love in Buddhism, and how to approach impermanence, karma, and even daily interruptions with mindfulness. Rinpoche also explains the paradox of being both disciplined and relaxed in practice, the power of devotion, and how to hold compassion for those who cause harm. You'll learn details about the upcoming San Diego Celebration of Awakening: World Peace Through Inner Peace Festival (September 20th, 2025), a day of interfaith dialogue, meditation, music, and cultural performance designed to cultivate peace from within.
