Jaymee & Lacee close out the year with Sam Harris impressions and conscientious objections to societal norms. Lacee births the phrase "counter-conditioning" to describe the act of defying multigenerational habitual patterns, and Jaymee drops a few postmodern-Buddhist freestyle rants. The couple also figure out on air whether the LITA podcast will continue with the upcoming return of the Mystical/Cynical podcast in January 2022.
So get ready to slow the fuck down for an hour as we painstakingly remove the splinters and claws of samsara, one homegrown realization at a time.
We would additionally like to wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thank you for your attention this past year, and for making our conversations a valued part of your life.
In this divine feminine charged episode w/ Jaymee's partner & manager Lacee, the two break down how to spiritualize PMS, how sex can evolve in healthy relationship, the importance of assertiveness as well as apology, and what part meditation plays in maintaining overall health and happiness.
Jaymee and Austin spend an additional hour answering questions and addressing topics presented by listeners.
Austin White was a former client of Jaymee's in 2017. Leaving behind a trail of destruction fueled by addiction and long-standing emotional wounds, Austin serendipitously entered the treatment center Jaymee co-founded after leading police on a high speed pursuit in Santa Barbara while in a manic state. They instantly began an unbelievable journey of healing and spiritual growth that led to Austin becoming Jaymee's predecessor at the center where they originally met and did their profound work together. Austin vulnerably shares his dramatic and heartwarming story of spiritual awakening with us all, so much so that you can hear his voice tremble.
Jaymee hosts Brandon Boyd—frontman of the iconic band Incubus, painter, surfer, lifelong spiritual explorer and new father —for a playful and thoughtful conversation about creative morality and the toll of success after decades in the spotlight. Brandon reflects on the strange miracle of a band of friends from California growing into one of the most beloved rock groups of their generation, while somehow managing to keep their sense of humor, experimentation, and inner life intact. Jaymee and Brandon explore the process of songwriting while driving, the sacrifice the muse asks of its receiver, the divine paradox hidden within truths, forging your own spiritual path, the wisdom we earn through what we wouldn’t wish upon ourselves, and the ideal beauty of being a new father at 50. Jaymee is thrilled to share this two-hour conversation with YouTuber Dakota Wint. With his channel Dakota of Earth nearing the one-million subscriber mark, Dakota reflects on his unlikely entry into the spiritual path—from once being an argumentative atheist encouraged by the writings of Christopher Hitchens, to becoming a devout man of God enthusiastically exploring the sacredness of a multitude of spiritual traditions the sacred to the profane. He speaks openly about the Krishna devotee who mentored him before tragically taking his own life, what it was like being stranded in Peru for three months at the onset of the pandemic at an ayahuasca retreat, and the deeper reckonings that followed. Throughout the conversation, Dakota offers moments of honest self-reflection that remind us the screen is just another mirror. One of Jaymee’s favorite conversations to date—with a fascinating, seemingly fearless spiritual journalist reporting from the front lines of the incomprehensible.LITA PODCAST: hosted, produced, and recorded by Jaymee Carpenter. In this expansive double-issue episode, Jaymee welcomes back the wandering mystic known as Jesus Christ, or "Jesus Eveningstar Aurum Aquarian" from his time in the spiritual cult The Source Family. What unfolds is a hilarious, reality-bending exploration of mysticism, spiritual experimentation, communal living in the heart of 1970s spiritual counterculture, and the long arc of awakening in the subtler initiations of everyday life. In the second half of this special, Jaymee is joined by his extraterrestrial friend "(no first name) Aurora", who describes her experience of inhabiting a 27 year old human form formerly known as Debbie. Aurora shares her teachings on energetic sovereignty: a practice she calls the Flying Rainbow Lasagne— which is a dance designed to help individuals navigate and protect themselves from the harms and dangers of an increasingly unorganic, technological world.Provocative, unusual, and undeniably sincere, this double feature explores the edges of belief while returning again and again to the same question: What does it mean to live from love, no matter the story we inhabit?LITA PODCAST: hosted, produced, edited and recorded by Jaymee Carpenter. Mary Wright is an American painter and founder of the Wright Way Organic Resource Center in the Santa Monica Mountains, sacred land where her and her late husband, organic architect Eric Lloyd Wright lived, stewarded and offered to the public for ceremonial and teaching purposes for over 4 decades. Jaymee co-facilitated weekly sweat lodge ceremonies with shaman Miguel Rivera at Wright Way from 2014-2017, and this interview with Mary, recorded on Valentine's Day was a sort of homecoming for Jaymee, who views Mary as a saint. Recently her husband Eric passed away, and the home they shared was destroyed in the 2025 Malibu Fires. This conversation is a meditation on non-attachment, heartfelt resilience, the importance and truth of nature, and the abundant attitude of gratitude. Wayne Carpenter is Jaymee's father, a New York born singer/songwriter who lived and breathed music from his earliest life. Wayne developed himself as a performer and writer while attending prestigious music colleges before chasing his dreams on the West Coast in the early 1970's pursuing a record deal with his band (which included Jaymee's mother). But a twist of fate and a mouth to feed (Jaymee's birth) redirected Wayne's life into a new career, as an executive of the biggest record store chain in America (The Wherehouse) during the Southern California record store explosion of the late 1970's & 80's. This podcast features a highly entertaining journalistic behind the scenes account of both the golden age of the recording industry and the birth of record store culture, as well as an uncommon conversation between a Jaymee and his father, who makes his first guest appearance on the podcast. In this beautifully tender, highly entertaining and completely unplanned episode, you’ll also learn interesting facts about animals, insects, plant life, and Jason Segel, plus a road map of how to begin seeing the external world as an extension of oneself.www.loveistheauthor.comLITA PODCAST: hosted, produced, edited and music by Jaymee Carpenter. Tulku Orgyen P'huntsok Rinpoche is a Vajrayana Buddhist Master at the Odiyana Institute in Santa Barbara, CA, and one of Jaymee’s root guru’s in Tibetan Buddhism. At 18 months of age he was recognized as the reincarnation of an important teacher by His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, and was raised since childhood to fulfill his incarnation. He is a beautifully tender and peaceful man, who speaks with simplicity, humor, and the lightest touch imaginable. On this, his fourth and most profound conversation with Jaymee on the podcast, teacher and student discuss Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, the true nature of mind, the mechanisms of karma and the exponential heart of devotion.www.loveistheauthor.comLITA PODCAST: hosted, produced, edited and music by Jaymee Carpenter.
