We're living in the age of the Reset. Klaus Schwabb calls it the "Great Reset". But were not talking about Klaus Schwabb or his quote that you will "own nothing and like it".  Although some of the following are great things to try, we're also not talking about a reset by cold plunges, breathwork, ice baths. red light therapy or gratitude journaling, either. We're talking about the one "reset" that's actually changing lives, quitting alcohol. In this episode, Shane dives into why so many high-performing men, business owners, leaders, and entrepreneurs, are walking away from the "work hard, play hard" lifestyle and choosing clarity, peace, and purpose instead. You'll hear why Reset Culture is more than just a trend, it's a movement of men who are tired of feeling burned out, anxious, and disconnected… and ready to build a new kind of success story that doesn't come with a hangover. Expect truth, humor, and a few gut punches along the way. (And probably a joke or two about how we used to think tequila was self-care.) 💡 In This Episode: Why high-achievers are trading late nights for early mornings The surprising link between alcohol, anxiety, and ambition How sobriety gives you an unfair advantage in business and life The difference between numbing out and leveling up Why "peace" is the new "flex" ⚡️ Actionable Takeaways: Do a Personal Reset Audit: Ask yourself — "Am I using alcohol to escape or to elevate?" Be honest. That answer can change your life. Find Your Crew: You can't build momentum in isolation. Apparently, choosing not to drink now makes you controversial. In this episode, Shane dives into the cultural weirdness around sobriety — why quitting alcohol freaks people out more than drinking too much, how clear-headed men are suddenly being called "radical," and what this says about masculinity, culture, and freedom in 2025. From The Guardian's recent article "Mocktails for MAGA: Why the US Right Is Turning Sober" to the growing trend of men reclaiming their focus, faith, and families, Shane breaks down why a simple glass of sparkling water can now spark a political debate. You'll laugh, shake your head, and probably think twice about why society celebrates dysfunction and ridicules discipline. Because here's the truth, sobriety isn't extreme. It's clarity. It's leadership. It's power. And in a world that glorifies chaos, staying sober might just be the most rebellious move you can make. Key Takeaways Don't let culture define your character — "normal" isn't always right. True masculinity isn't about how much you can drink, but how much you can carry. Staying sober isn't weakness — it's the foundation of real freedom and clarity. Today on That Sober Guy Podcast, we're joined by a legend in the speaking and performance world, Joel Bauer. This dude has trained some of the most elite speakers, presenters, and marketers on the planet to monetize their life experience and create real influence, both on and offline. If you've ever seen someone captivate a room and thought, "How the hell do they do that?" - there's a good chance Joel's fingerprints are somewhere in their training. But here's where it gets real, Joel's not just about stage presence and sales. He's lived through and witnessed the dark side of addiction up close, and he's got some powerful wisdom for men who know they've got that "addictive personality" wiring. Instead of letting it wreck your life, Joel breaks down how to redirect that same intensity into something that actually serves you, your business, your relationships, your health, and your purpose. And, of course, we have a few laughs along the way, because if you can't laugh at the insanity of this crazy life, what's the point? A couple of key takeaways from today's episode: Your "addictive" tendencies aren't a curse, they're untapped potential when harnessed with the right structure and intention. Influence isn't about what you sell, it's about the truth you're willing to share and the transformation you've lived. If this episode hits home for you, don't go it alone. Are men drinking themselves out of masculinity? In this episode of That Sober Guy Podcast, we break down how alcohol quietly strips away the very things men pride themselves on - strength, drive, sex drive, and mental toughness. From the "beer belly badge of surrender" to the not-so-funny reality of whiskey D, we'll dive into the science and the everyday impact booze has on your body, brain, and relationships. We'll also get real about why many men reach for the bottle to feel confident or tough, and how that short-term crutch is often the thing eroding their long-term manhood. This isn't about chest-thumping caveman masculinity. It's about the grit, focus, discipline, and clarity that make men leaders, fathers, husbands, and high performers — and why alcohol is the biggest enemy of all four. Expect some laughs, some uncomfortable truths, and a wake-up call that might just change the way you think about your next drink. Actionable Takeaways: Ask yourself: Is alcohol fueling my manhood or stealing it? Be brutally honest. Replace one "manhood killer" (nightly drinking) with one "manhood builder" (a workout, journaling, cold shower, or just showing up present with your family). Every touchdown, home run, and knockout seems to come with a side of beer, or at least a commercial for it. From Budweiser's billion-dollar deal with the NFL, to tequila pouring all over UFC fight nights, to beer practically funding baseball stadiums, alcohol and sports have become inseparable. But should they be? In this episode of That Sober Guy Podcast, Shane takes a look at alcohol advertising in sports. Do leagues like the NFL, MLB, NBA, and UFC owe fans more responsibility when it comes to promoting addictive substances? Why are we okay with tequila logos on jerseys, but we'd never accept Marlboro as the "official cigarette of the Finals"? And is it just hypocrisy to glorify peak performance athletes while cashing checks from companies selling a product that wrecks health and lives? We'll explore: How alcohol ads target not just adults, but kids and families watching games. The normalization of booze as "part of the fan experience." The Big Tobacco playbook—and how alcohol companies are running the same game. Whether banning alcohol ads in sports could actually be a good thing. All with a little humor and sarcasm, because nothing says "family-friendly Sunday football" like pounding tallboys and screaming at the ref who can't hear you. Actionable Takeaways: Pay attention during the next game, notice how often alcohol shows up, and what message it's sending. If you're in early sobriety, set boundaries, mute commercials, watch with sober friends, or create new game-day rituals. And remember, you don't have to do this alone. This week on That Sober Guy Podcast, we're sitting down with Corey Warren, a guy who proves that sobriety doesn't have to be boring and that vulnerability is actually a superpower. Corey's not out here spitting drug facts or throwing scare tactics at people. Instead, he shares his own messy, real-life journey while breaking down the very real dangers of alcohol, drugs, vaping, and pills. But it doesn't stop there, Corey also leans into the conversations most people avoid: mental health, peer pressure, and the never-ending battle of knowing your own worth. With over 200K followers on Instagram (@icoreywarren) , Corey's creative videos are reaching people across the world who are ready to step away from alcohol and step into freedom. He's not afraid to laugh at himself, keep it raw, and show you that life on the other side of drinking is not only possible, it's actually pretty damn fun. We swap stories, talk about the power of getting honest, and even have a few laughs at the ridiculous things we used to think were "normal" when drinking. 🎯 Takeaways from this episode: Why being vulnerable is a strength, not a weakness. How to find your identity during early sobriety. Practical tools you can use today to build self-worth and live free. We've all been there, head pounding, stomach churning, swearing "never again", only to do it all over again the next weekend. So why do we keep falling for the same hangover trap? In this episode of That Sober Guy Podcast, we peel back the curtain on the big lie of hangovers: why we minimize the pain, laugh it off, and even turn it into a cultural joke instead of seeing it for what it really is, a red flag from our body. Here's what we'll cover: The science of hangovers in plain English (dehydration, dopamine crash, no REM sleep, body in full recovery mode). Why hangovers don't actually stop us: alcohol amnesia, dopamine hijack, and a culture that glamorizes misery. How to spot the moment when hangovers shift from "funny story" to "wake-up call." And yes, there will be some laughs along the way. Think: breakfast burritos and bad decisions.  🎯 Actionable Takeaways: Start tracking how often you repeat the "never again" cycle — patterns are powerful. Reframe hangovers as warning labels instead of "badges of honor." This week on That Sober Guy Podcast , the #1 sober podcast for men since 2014 - Shane sits down with Kansas City Chiefs defensive coach and Super Bowl Champion Britt Reid, son of legendary head coach Andy Reid. Britt opens up about his journey through some of life's darkest valleys: the devastating car accident just days before the Super Bowl that nearly claimed the life of a 5-year-old girl, his time in prison, and how he stumbled across That Sober Guy Podcast while behind bars. What started as a lifeline in a cell has grown into part of his path toward sobriety, redemption, and rebuilding his life. The conversation also digs deep into Britt's family history, including the heartbreaking loss of his older brother to a drug overdose, a story that is now also featured in ESPN's brand-new docuseries "The Kingdom", directed by Kristen Lappas (of The Last Dance fame). The six-episode series chronicles the Chiefs' run to Super Bowl LIX and their global impact on football, but it also shines a light on the real-life struggles behind the highlight reels, including Britt's. As always, Shane keeps it authentic, raw, and even light-hearted at times. From gridiron glory to gritty sobriety work, this episode is about far more than football, it's about second chances, personal ownership, and finding freedom. 👉 Actionable Takeaways from this episode: No matter how far you've fallen, redemption is possible if you're willing to put in the work. Sobriety is a team sport, you can't do it alone, but you can win with the right community. Pain doesn't have to define you; it can be the very thing that fuels your purpose. If you're ready to quit drinking, reclaim your power, and join a group of men who get it, join our free community — The Sober Guy Victory Circle — today. We've all said it — "I'll just have one." Then one turns into three, and suddenly you're at Taco Bell at 1 AM ordering 6 bean burritos with no onion and something that may or may not still be legal. In this episode, we break down the myth of moderation and why "just one drink" is never just one for so many of us. We'll explore the brain science behind cravings, how alcohol lowers your ability to stick to your own limits, and why the alcohol industry loves selling you the dream of "responsible drinking" — while quietly making sure you never stop. We'll cover: 🧠 The dopamine loop that makes moderation so difficult. 🕵️‍♂️ How "Drink Responsibly" is more marketing strategy than health advice. 💡 Why moderation keeps you in the cycle longer (and keeps Big Booze in business). 🤣 A few laughs along the way, because hey — sometimes you've got to laugh at the insanity of it all. Actionable Takeaways: Know your triggers: If "just one" always turns into more, that's not a lack of willpower — it's how alcohol works in the brain. Redefine freedom: Freedom isn't the ability to drink without consequence; it's the ability to live without needing it at all. 👉 Join our free Sober Guy Men's Community — connect with like-minded men who are ditching booze and leveling up in life. 👉 Spots are now open for our Sober October Accelerator — 30 days to quit drinking, get your health back, and crush it in business and life. You've heard it a million times: "Drink Responsibly." But what if I told you that's just a well-polished PR stunt from the same industry that's actively lobbying against your health? In this episode, we pull back the curtain on Big Booze's billion-dollar playbook, and how the alcohol industry uses the warm-and-fuzzy "responsible drinking" slogan to distract from the shady stuff they're doing behind the scenes. From funding biased research, to blocking cancer warning labels, to undermining new health guidelines, they've mastered the art of saying one thing while doing the exact opposite. We'll talk: Why "Drink Responsibly" is the equivalent of handing out kale at a Marlboro convention. How beer, wine, and spirits lobbyists are protecting profits at the expense of public health. Why the industry is terrified of new U.S. dietary guidelines and how non-alcoholic options are shaking up the status quo. The subtle ways you've been marketed to for decades without even knowing it. Actionable Takeaways: Start questioning the messages you've been sold. If "responsible drinking" worked, would we need rehab centers on every corner? Replace their slogan with a new one: "Live Intentionally." Your health, your family, and your mind will thank you. 💥 Ready to take the next step? Big changes are brewing. U.S. health officials are expected to overhaul long-standing alcohol guidelines and the new science (and common sense person) says even one drink a day might be too much. In this episode, we unpack what these changes mean for you, the $250B alcohol industry, and why it's time to ditch the "moderate drinking is healthy" myth once and for all. We dig into the latest research, what's really happening behind closed doors in Washington (and the boardrooms of Big Alcohol), and how this shift impacts men, fathers, leaders, and anyone trying to level up without the drag of booze. You'll also get a few solid takeaways to help you think clearly, lead better, and start showing up as your best self—without the crutch of "just one drink." 🎯 Takeaways: Why the new guidelines are such a big deal What one drink really does to your brain and body Why high performers are quietly ditching alcohol How to start a no-BS reset that works Join our free men's community – Victory Circle 💼 Want coaching? What do CEOs, pro athletes, and entrepreneurs have in common lately? They're not just chasing ROI, they're chasing clarity. In this episode of That Sober Guy Podcast, we dive into the $11 billion non-alcoholic beverage boom and why more high-performing men are ditching the booze for better brainpower, deeper sleep, and a sharper edge in business and life. From adaptogen-infused cocktails to hop-forward IPAs without the hangover, the NA market is exploding, and it's not just for people with a "problem." It's for anyone who's sick of feeling foggy and wants to show up clear, present, and powerful. We break down what's driving this sober shift, how it's disrupting traditional drinking culture, and why alcohol might be the biggest productivity killer you didn't know you were hiring. Actionable Takeaways: Try swapping one drink this week for an NA alternative and track how you feel — mentally, physically, and emotionally. Pay attention to your social settings: Are you drinking out of habit, pressure, or purpose? Get curious, not judgmental — experiment with being sober in high-pressure environments and see how you perform. Want to connect with other high-performing men on this path? This week on That Sober Guy Podcast, we step into the ring with professional heavyweight boxer, author, speaker, and legit chess assassin Ed Latimore for a hard-hitting conversation on why real strength means choosing clarity over chaos. We dive into the psychological warfare behind alcohol marketing, how society normalizes dysfunction, and why business owners, dads, and high-performing leaders are waking up and walking away from the booze trap. Ed breaks down the psyop of alcohol, the normalcy bias that keeps people stuck, and what it really takes to win in business and in life. From the boxing ring to the chessboard to the boardroom, Ed shares his story of transformation, discipline, and how quitting alcohol gave him a competitive edge most men are too numbed out to notice. It's raw, insightful, a little funny, and all real talk—no fluff, no filters. 👊 Actionable Takeaways: How to identify and crush the mental programming that says "drinking is normal" Why leaders who ditch alcohol gain more energy, time, and clarity A simple mindset shift to start building true confidence and not booze-fueled ego How to play chess, not checkers with your personal growth 🔥 Join hundreds of other high-performing men who've stepped into the arena of sobriety. In this episode, we're cracking open more than just cold ones, we're cracking open the chaos behind one of the biggest brand faceplants in recent alcohol history. Bud Light's PR blunder cost billions, tanked its street cred, and left big beer brands scrambling like a frat boy who forgot finals week. But this isn't just about beer. It's about identity, influence, and how the alcohol industry is getting a reality check as Gen Z and younger Millennials say, "Yeah, I'm good," and reach for a coffee instead. We explore how the shifting culture around drinking is flipping the booze biz upside down, and why that's actually great news for anyone trying to live clean, clear-headed, and free. With a healthy dose of honesty and humor (because let's face it—this stuff is ridiculous and revealing), we unpack what big alcohol's identity crisis means for your own transformation and why now is the perfect time to go against the grain and level up. 🔥 In this episode you'll learn: Why Bud Light's billion-dollar fumble isn't just a marketing mistake, it's a wake-up call. How sober living is becoming a power move, not a punishment. What you can learn from watching the alcohol industry panic like it's the end of prohibition. 💡 Actionable Takeaways: Use industry trends as proof that you're not the weird one, the world is shifting. Ride the wave. Audit your environment: if alcohol brands are confused about who they are, are you crystal clear about who you want to be? 👊 Ready to stop drinking and start dominating in your business, relationships, and health? In this episode of That Sober Guy Podcast—the #1 sober podcast since 2014—we take a hard but honest look at a new bill that would deport undocumented immigrants caught driving under the influence. This isn't about politics or taking sides, it's about public safety, personal responsibility, and sobriety. We talk about how alcohol-fueled decisions can destroy lives, regardless of legal status, and how we can do better as a society. We also ask some deeper questions: Why is drunk driving still so normalized in many communities, legal status or not? And what kind of sober leadership is needed to shift that culture? You can be compassionate toward people chasing the American dream and still hold the line on dangerous behavior. Tune in for a thoughtful, no-nonsense conversation with a few laughs thrown in because hey, it's That Sober Guy, and we've been keeping it real since 2014. 🎯 Want to join a community of men committed to sober living, mental clarity, and leadership? Is alcohol finally losing its cool? In this episode of That Sober Guy Podcast, we dive into a question more and more people are starting to ask: Is booze becoming the new cigarette? Once glamorized, now scrutinized, alcohol might be heading for a cultural downgrade. We break down the data showing the massive shift in drinking trends, including the rise of non-alcoholic drinks, declining alcohol sales, and how more high-performing men are ditching the booze to level up in business, relationships, and mental clarity. From concerts to ball games to boardrooms, being the sober guy is no longer lame. In fact, it's becoming a superpower. You'll hear real talk, a few laughs, and maybe even a flashback to that old baseball coach who smelled like a distillery and told you to "walk it off." Spoiler alert: He's not the vibe anymore. Actionable Takeaways: Rethink the "normal" social script—being sober doesn't mean being boring. Start tracking how alcohol actually impacts your energy, mood, and performance. Try swapping booze for a quality NA beer or sparkling hop water next time you're out. 👉 Ready to take the next step? It's like I lived through a stroke that was supposed to have me gone in 24hrs, Then I was in a coma still fighting... mainly I believe My best friend who is my nephew and after not deserving the title yet hoping I would hold it one day... My brother and sister in Law at his communion gave me the best gift EVER and showed me they saw a HUUUGGGGGE CHANGE.. at 2:43pm they asked me to be his Godmother. That moment I cried and stopped a week later. I knew at 24 even though I WANTED THE TITLE, I CAN BE HONEST. I DID NOT DESERVE HIM IF THE POWERS THAT BE DECIDED SUDDENLY I'D BE HIS F/T GUARDIAN THEN, I WOULD HAVE TO GIVE HIM TO MY BROTHERS BEST FRIEND. I CARED TOO MUCH ABOUT DRUGS ALSO I'D LEAVE SOMETHING OUT. POINT ABOUT THAT SORRY I TOOK THE SCENIC ROUTE ALTHOUGH LET'S NOT FORGET TO STOP AND LOOK AT THE BEAUTY WHERE WE

This podcast is by far one of the most helpful, relatable, amazing podcasts I have found. I just found it a few days ago and I'm so glad I did. I can't wait to listen to all the episodes. I am a girlfriend of an amazing man who is an alcoholic and hearing your story helps me cope. I'm not sure if Jess tells her side of the story or if she was an alcoholic, too but I'd love to hear how your relationship was while Shane was using. My relationship is so tough at times and hearing other peoples stories helps me cope. Thank you for all you are doing!
