So what's this thing about girlboss feminism and the shaming of women who desire financial independence online? What's also this thing of giving women respect based on status and using other women to climb? I discussed my thoughts on what is termed "Girlboss Feminism" and the way forward. Welcome to a new season of As Angel Was Sayin' baby girls and boys and Happy New Year! In this new episode, I talk on the importance of staying away from men who drain you in the name of love. Also discussed is emotional abuse and the need for women to decentre men's feelings; all of which I draw from personal experiences. Got ads, topic requests, podcast support or want to send fan mail? Shamelessness and Selfishness are two of my favourite words as a feminist. They are also seen as especially bad for women. In this episode, I question why and explain how enjoyment of our legal rights as women can only happen when we live intentionally shame free. Ads, Support or Collaborations? It seems feminism is no longer just not for women, but a movement where women fight other women to cape and mule for the struggles of men. Giving examples of two movements in Nigerian history, I question why that is so and reiterate that women must be selfish in our search for freedom.
Bruh I'm sick and tired of people losing their abilities to think for themselves cause they have outsourced their thinking to other women. In this episode, I discuss why it can be harmful to stan and have "feminist favs". Also discussed are placing people on pedestals, a little cancel culture and all the spiritual higi haga that came with not wanting to identify as a Christian Feminist last year. What's with all the name calling online and bad blood towards women who are more traditional please? In the second episode of this season, I discussed why as women, we should not open other women up for violence from men even if these men are "progressive" or "allies". Welcome to Season 2 of As Angel Was Sayin’. For the first episode, I discuss an issue that I find very tricky from life experiences ranging from women cancelling other women in the name of identity politics, women staying silent where they should speak for other women and the numerous backlashes I’ve received each time I try to practice a female centric feminism on Nigerian Twitter especially during the #Endsars movement. Do you think women hate women? Or do you think the trope of women hate women is yet another sexist invention made to distract women from the main goal of equality and justice?. Be sure to leave a voice message or send me your response as a message on Twitter where I’m more active. In this episode, I discuss women’s names and assert that we should have more rights to name ourselves and our children. I also question if last name practices are truly African or an import of Western cultures borrowing from my own knowledge of naming practices as an Igbo woman. This is the introductory episode to this podcast discussing the origins of the name and my plans for the podcast.
It's been almost two months since the hottest women only party of 2023. It's also the two year anniversary of The Emecheta Collective, a women's only group I created. In my first episode with a guest, I sat down with Chidinma a.k.a La Dinma, to discuss on the necessity of women's safe spaces. If you are a woman who wants to join The Emecheta Collective, send me a dm on Twitter or Instagram @asangelwassayin. P.S: This podcast was recorded two weeks after Hertitude ☺️
