Description

Have you ever taken a yoga class without watching the teacher or looking up to see the pose? Well, this is what this podcast invites you to do. If you haven't practiced without watching, then this "audio asana" might be a bit unnerving, have you feeling lost, or just be really hard. But try it a few times, and you might experience a shift in your practice. As I tell the people who practice with me all the time, your body is your best teacher. All you have to do is listen in. Trust yourself. I am only your guide.

Podcasting is new to me. Yoga is not. So this is a work in progress right now.

Can we practice in such a way a that each moment invites an opportunity to practice kindness, to ourself and to others. Perhaps begin with learning how to embrace what we don’t quite like. Is that even possible?
Make Change

Make Change

2020-08-0459:59

We can wait for changes. We can wait for the push, the external motivation, or actually be forced to change. Or if you know now what you’d like to be different, then it’s time to move through some discomfort or fear or doubt to make the change you want to see happen now. Your energy is everything.
New moon energy is often about creating something, honoring the blank slate. But this time, we’re gonna work to release some of that heaviness or darkness. Time to ask: What in your past can you make peace with? What dream don’t you have to drag forward? In the second have of 2020, it’s time to acknowledge how we can feel lighter.
Finding Your Center

Finding Your Center

In this class, it’s the opportunity to become aware of the powerful and constant energy of your solar plexus. When we can’t find the ground, when we can’t feel safe enough to open, we can still come back to the calm and safe space inside ourselves. The card: the wolf and the energy of activism and inclusivity
We move a lot. Movement is automatic, habitual, nearly involuntarily—even the vinyasa on our yoga mat can be a blind routine. In this class, we take a pause. What are you moving toward? Why are you moving? Then, you can reap the benefits of this solar energy.
We often think of Pigeon Pose as a watery, opening pose of flexibility. In this class, we’ll explore it differently. In order to move forward from a past that might have us feeling stuck, hurt, or fearful of a future, we must transform. We must go beyond the form that is our past. Perhaps that’s where Fire Log Pose comes from, that which we are burning through.
Open Up To What Is Good

Open Up To What Is Good

This yoga class is inspired by opening up to what is around us.  This is also my first "yoga podcast," which was the best way I could think to share a yoga class in the audio format. That, and I'm really digging the freedom of audio asana. As we made the shift to virtual yoga classes in these last few months, I've craved a way to practice without screens but with the guidance of a teacher.  Audio only is different, for sure. There's no one else to tell you if you're doing it right, no one other than you. I do not intend for this way of practicing to make you feel uncomfortable or lost. Instead, I hope that you can develop a deeper connection between your brain and your body, a deeper connection to yourself as your best teacher. Maybe even a deeper connection to your practice.  Om tat sat.  *These episode descriptions are very much a work in progress.
