At long last, our very first attempt to take our show on the road. And it went....well honestly pretty poorly. The conversation was fun, and we'll definitely get the guys from Crux Fermentation Project back on the show sometime but the audio is ROUGH. I recommend headphones to make things easier. I had only one omni-directional microphone and four people in a loud brewery so I did what I could. We'll be back next week with a regular in-studio episode so no hard feelings if you don't wanna stick it out through this one. Just know that if you DO stick it out you can hear four grown adults all say the words, "Maple Syrup Booty Hole". It's all about perspective.
Welcome to our new studio! The gang chats with the founder of Sacramento Beer Week, Dan Scott. Dan wishes he had a sash, Bryce talks about MC Hammer, and Peter thoroughly embarrasses Dan with State Fair stories. Jeff is somewhere else being a good Dad. Thanks to The Remedy Revue for letting us use their studio! _____ part of the pull up a chair podcast network
Jenn Coyle from the Can Van joins the guys to talk about cans and the stuff that goes in them. Jeff and Peter get nicknames, Jenn talks about breweries in Missouri, Bryce tries to pronounce "Pfriem" correctly, and the whole gang theorizes about regional beer differences.
Peter's oldest friend Dave Weiss brings the thunder with a whole ice chest full of BLLs. Dave volunteers to sell out, Bryce waxes poetic about Modelo, Jeff requests a barrel aged glitter stout, and the gang builds a blanket fort while Peter reminisces about the time Dave stabbed him.
Our very own Pull Up A Chair Podcast Network overlord Vincent "Scooter" Hamilton stops by and drinks some beer. Scooter talks about his childhood, Peter puts his nuts in some beer, Bryce KOs his sister, and Jeff drops some heavy philosophical ideas on us.
Beer artist Paul Rios joins the gang for a rousing discussion of popular conspiracy theories. Jeff offers to make art, Peter and Bryce learn a lot about each other, and Pauly quietly contemplates his decision to be on the podcast.
The gang interviews the owner/proprietor of Husicks Taphouse, Josh Kress. We talk about wacky shirts, Belgian beer, and who in the Sacramento Beer scene we all want to take home at the end of the night. Spoiler alert: It's never Dave Weiss.
This week's guest is the Head Brewer of Alaro Brewing Company, Chris Keeton. He talks about his history in culinary arts, while the gang makes fun of his imaginary title, "The Duke of Alchemy". Then they feel bad when they find out about how cool Alaro Brewing's history is.
The boys talk with Sacramento's wandering chef Phil Webster about food, cooking, and who gives the best hugs in the beer scene. Everyone struggles through their 4th of July hangover. Jeff comes right to your cubicle and tells you you could be doing your job better. Phil's microphone had some issues now and again, so if he begins to speak softly, don't worry you're not losing your mind.
Brian Palmer of Claimstake Brewing stops by to deliver some bodyblows to the gang. We talk about music, Viking beer, and Brian's brief but memorable professional fighting career.
Jim Noss from Logoff Brewing talks shop with the boys. We all contemplate the state of brewing in the age of hard seltzer. Jim talks nerdy to Peter, and Bryce and Jeff get left behind.
Two thirds of your usual hosts hang out with the owner/brewer of Flatland Brewing Company, Andrew Mohsen (not his full last name). The gang talks about thalassophobia and adjunct beers, then follows up by severely misrepresenting Peter's options on pizza purism.
Jeff and Bryce talk with the head brewer of Oak Park Brewery, Geoff Scott. Peter is MIA again, but the conversation flows well with the nicest guy in the local scene. Jeff expounds on his thoughts on hip-hop, and Bryce talks about his extensive vinyl collection. The whole group recalls their first and favorite concerts.
Sound guy (and now editor, gods help us) Josh Haines joins us on the show to talk about his pet project The Remedy Revue. We yeet some weird words around, and get red mustaches. Jeff doesn't know any Grateful Dead songs, Peter doesn't like any Grateful Dead songs, and Bryce is mostly confused about why we're even talking about the Grateful Dead.
Jeopardy runner-up Thomas Todd joins the show this week. We play a round of trivia while Thomas gets drunk on 0.0%abv beer. We get a little serious about substance abuse in the beer industry, but dive back in with the TRUTH about being on Jeopardy.
Hotel and Hospitality "expert" and dedicated craft beer investor Blake Lopez treks all the way up from San Diego to chat about his favorite non-Sacramento beers. Bryce and Peter learn a new drinking game, and Blake tries to kill us all with a big, bad, boozy triple IPA.
The boys get totally schooled by Sarah Hemly, owner/proprietor of Hemly Cider. We talk about fruits, flavorings, the legal distinctions of cider, and about going all out to pursue your dreams.
Taproom manager Dennis McGary stops by to discuss the finer points of double IPAS. But instead, we talk about fancy can labels, traveling to San Diego, and in what order we are in as Alana's former work husbands.
Former "Love Island US" contest and Cashel Barnett graces us with his presence to talk about his time in the sac beer industry, his various musical pursuits, and of course his time on a hit reality show.
