In this episode, Jess is joined by three wonderful Black women to unpack the topic that is COLOURISM.Colourism is a phenomenon that shows up in the Black community and other communities of colour across the world. It is also very present in media across all forms and understanding and dismantling Colourism is crucial for true social change and authentic diversity. It is not a new phenomenon by any stretch of the imagination and it has - over centuries of white supremacy across the globe - become yet another tool of oppression.Recent events have caused Jess and Cephas to change the regularly scheduled program and dedicate this episode to this conversation. As always, we don’t claim to have all the answers, but we found it important to center the voices of darker skinned women in this conversation and I (hi Jess here ;)) have learnt SO much from listening to their experiences.I hope you will too. Please follow our guests and their work on social media. You can find Aisha on IG:@disneydiariesofablackgirl@theehoshen (her jewellery business)Feven runs an amazing candle business, you can find her on IG:@soyandjoyukYou can find our podcast via the handles below and Jess and Cephas are there too.@thethirdwaypodcast (IG) @thethirdwaypod (twitter)@jessmally @cephasazariahWe also suggested you do some further reading, here the books we mentioned:Do Better - Spiritual Activism for fighting and healing from White Supremacy by Rachel RickettsThe Color Complex: The Politics of Skin Color in a New Millennium Hosted on Acast.
