This episode was recorded before news of Sam Courtwright’s season-ending knee injury. Best wishes, #22.
With the Olympics concluding in Paris, Tim and Nathan talk about some of the wildest moments, first focusing on the basketball, swimming and track events (1st) before then getting into everything around Noah Lyles, then gymnastics, everything around Simone Biles, and our excitement for LA 2028 (20:28). Tim and Nathan then preview No. 8 Texas Tech soccer as they prepare for No. 4 Penn State, although this was recorded before the news of Sam Courtwright’s season-ending knee injury she suffered in practice (41:41). They talk about college football in general, including Washington State and Oregon State’s situation (57:50) before focusing on Texas Tech football more as fall camp goes on (1:09:34). They close the show talking about the Dallas Cowboys and why they think they’re just delaying an inevitable rebuild before highlighting the Little League World Series, and Nathan closes out his last show looking back at his last three years (1:32:49).

Texas Tech football had their Local Media Day on Tuesday and started fall camp Wednesday, so Nathan talks about some funny quotes and big takeaways as the season is less than a month away. From quotes like Bryce Ramirez on the linebacker room and what the offensive line should look like under new o-line coach Clay McGuire (1st down) to Zach Kittley’s unique perspective on the south endzone and Joey McGuire’s understanding of what has to happen this year (2nd down) (17:56), Nathan tries to cover as much as possible. The show ends with he and Tim talking about Texas Tech confirming their date with Texas A&M in Fort Worth Dec. 8 and the home-and-home series still on starting 2025-26, plus what they’ve enjoyed from the Olympics (37:52).

They did a whole show, and then Texas Tech made a monumental deal, so Tim and Nathan went back and recorded an emergency down to talk about reigning Softball Player of the Year NiJaree Canady committing to Texas Tech after reportedly signing a seven-figure NIL deal with the Matador Club. It looks like Gerry Glasco is building a team that not only should make the tournament, but might make some more noise than that.
Then, in the actual show, they talk about Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger’s report that the power conference commissioners finalized roster limits and unlimited scholarships for college athletics within those roster limits (22:58). They transition to talking about the magnificent WNBA All-Star Game and if it could be replicated, along with the U.S. men’s basketball team going undefeated in five exhibitions but having some awfully close calls before the Olympics (39:26). Finally, Tim and Nathan look at how in just one day at the Olympics, drama has already gone wild (56:37).
