Sonically, this sits exactly where I want us to be as a band. Each of us brings our own taste and style into the project, and that blend is what creates such a rich experience for our listeners and for us as musicians.

This week’s episode is inspired by the street art we discovered around the city of Lille — especially the ingenious reworking of everyday road signs into imaginative, fantasy-like scenes. One image in particular stayed with me: a high-flying circus act soaring overhead, full of movement and playful energy. That sense of creativity and elevation set the tone for this musical journey.
I’ve curated a broad range of sounds this week, a gentle departure from the usual proceedings — hope you enjoy the ride.

This week’s ElecSoul episode is shaped by belief, disruption and the deep layers of history I felt standing inside Córdoba’s cathedral mosque.
Summer 2024 I took a photo of that interior arches stretching in every direction, light drifting through a space that once held one of the most extraordinary mosques on earth, now containing a cathedral built right into its centre.
To understand that tension, you have to understand the disruption:
The original Great Mosque of Córdoba was created in the 8th century, during a period when the city was alive with learning, art, science, poetry and spiritual expression. When Christian forces took Córdoba in 1236, they consecrated the mosque as a cathedral. But the real rupture came in the 16th century, when a cathedral nave was built inside the mosque not out of architectural need, but symbolism. A statement of power, dominance and control.
Even King Charles V later regretted authorising it, saying they had destroyed “something unique in the world.”
That conflict beauty held inside disruption shaped how I approached this mix.
The first 20 minutes sit lower-tempo, a blend of live jazz, blues-inflected soul and reflective groove. Space to breathe. Space to absorb.
From there, I shift into electronica, rhythm, movement and finally return to my foundation: soulful house, the heartbeat that always carries me home.
The journey:
Brandee Younger — Breakfast with Adrianna
Carlos Niño & Friends — Calimayan (feat. Nate Morgan & Yaakov Levy)
Curtis Mayfield — Eddie You Should Know Better
Eric Burdon & War — Spill the Wine
Eugene McDaniels — Headless Hero
Om Unit — Back At Plastic (Mr. Beatnick Remix)
Hector Plimmer — Into The Dark
Werkha — Humour This
M-Scape — I Do (Original Mix)
Rick Lenoir — With You (The Dubstrumental)
Soul II Soul — A Dreams A Dream (Ron Trent Refix)
Terry Hunter, Lauren Eylise — M.I.A. (Terry Hunter Main Mix)
Bobby & Steve, Byron Stingily, DJ Pope — They Can’t Understand It (DJ Pope Organ Dub Remix)
ElecSoul – Light of Day
This curated playlist was born from a quiet moment and a view through our window overlooking Selsley, Rodborough & Stroud. The light was just right. I took a picture, converted it to black and white, and felt something shift.
Music can do that too. It reminds us we can create something meaningful and beautiful for ourselves, no matter what others think. That’s what ElecSoul is about. A space to feel, imagine, and create.
These episodes are inspired by an image I have captured or a feeling I wish to share.

I’ve just recorded a full one hour vinyl mix featuring some of my favourite soulful and deep house tracks from 1993 through to 2024.
It was a real pleasure playing at Dialog Studios out in the beautiful Cotswold countryside such an incredible space. The team there are top-notch and can create virtually any look or vibe you’re after, whether you’re a band, solo artist, or a seasoned DJ like me.
Totally love the authentic nature of it all. So glad I played records instead of CDJs, it would have been too polished sounding and seamless, and not at all organic.
So there you have it.
If you’ve got a love for meaningful 90s soulful songs and deep electronic grooves between 120–127 BPM, this one’s for you.
Enjoy!

ELECSOUL WARRIOR
This week’s ElecSoul carries the spirit of quiet strength. I caught this image of a spider building a huge web. Silent, patient, and focused. Every move deliberate. It knows the struggle’s real, but it still creates, knowing that what’s meant to come, will.
That energy runs through the mix — deep, soulful, and resilient. Each track spun with intent, another thread in the web.
Joyce Wrice & Kaytranada – Iced Tea
Roy Ayers – Green And Gold (Delfonic Rework)

ELECSOUL - PAPER
This week I found myself drawn to two producers for very different reasons. Ron Carroll and Felipe Gordon. I’ve always felt deeply connected to their music, but as I listened back through their work, it hit me: they’ve actually collaborated a number of times before!
Felipe Gordon and Ron Carroll, both masters of soulful, groove-driven electronic music, have shared musical chemistry across releases like Gordon’s Hold On (Original Mix) featuring Carroll, and Carroll’s I’m Alive (Touch the Sky), which Felipe reworked in his own distinctive style. Gordon, a Colombian producer and DJ, brings a jazz-infused sensibility to house music, while Carroll a Chicago legend channels gospel roots, deep soul, and raw dancefloor energy.
I haven’t included their collaborations directly in this week’s mix. Instead, I’ve reflected on the influences and similarities that connect them. The emotion, the musicianship, and that unmistakable feeling of spirit in motion.
All my shows are recorded live to tape, with no editing. It’s never perfect, but that’s exactly how I like it. I’m grateful to have this platform to share my virtual residency on ElecSoul each week.
Thanks for taking the time to listen.

This week’s mix is recorded straight to tape no edits, no polishing, just a live ride through some soulful, reflective sounds. So expect a few of my usual flubs in there.

New music from Eric Roberson and more, all chosen with that ElecSoul perspective in mind. Hope it lands right where you need it.

ElecSoul #248 90s GARAGE ON THE RECORD
This episode I’m back on my vintage Vestax decks, playing straight from the collection. Just pure 12inch records, no fuss. It’s a 90s Garage session, full of raw drums, soulful vocals and bumping grooves that still feel fresh (apart from being worn and needing clean).
Dug out a few gems featured on my Instagram series I haven’t played fully in a while, including Keith Thompson, Jomanda and 95 North. There’s a splash of Acid Trax in the mix too, plus a couple of deep Marshall Jefferson and Joey T Vanelli cuts to round it out.
Hope you enjoy the sound of the session.
Kicking off this week’s ElecSoul with a classic from Galliano, one of the standout acts from the Acid Jazz era on Gilles Peterson’s Talkin’ Loud label. I’d been chatting on IG about the scene back in the day, and it reminded me how Galliano carved out a sound that went way beyond the standard Acid Jazz blueprint.
From there, I’m keeping close to that early crossover energy into the world of trip hop, breaks and dusty beats, with flavours that nod to Rae & Christian and Unkle. James Lavelle’s MoWax label was huge at the time, collaborating with artists like Portishead and pushing boundaries across sound and style.
You get the idea. This week’s selection leans into a bit of nostalgia, but not without moving forward. There’s even a cut from Felix Da Housecat tucked in before we shift gears into house, garage and some late-night footwork.
Hope you enjoy the ride, 49 minutes of memory, motion and movement.
ElecSoul #246 – hello, olá, olá, Hola!, Todo bien & back again.
Felt like the right time to throw a bit of a Latin curveball into the mix this week… there’s summer in the air and I’ve been in that kind of mood. My wife and I often talk about going back to Lisbon it’s a place we both love but lately I’ve also been wondering what South America would be like. That daydream definitely crept into the music this time.
Also had a really nice chat with Helder Russo on Instagram about his latest release a remix album of Church Music. I shared how much I loved ME AND YOU when it first came out, but my copy had corrupted and wouldn’t play on the CDJs. He kindly sorted me out with a fresh version big up Helder!
Listen again on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts to hear the the track in question
Have a great weekend!
