In this weeks episode we are joined by college basketball star and Boston College standout CJ PENHA! CJ is from Pickerington, Ohio, attending Harvest Prep and went on to play college basketball at Taylor University! Cj talks about his time at Taylor University and playing in the Silent Night game. After Taylor University Cj transferred to Trevecca Nazarene, in Nashville, Tennessee, where he went on to lead the team in scoring, earning him All-American honors. After his success he entered the transfer portal and transferred to Boston College! We talk to CJ as he prepares for the 2022 -2023 season! This week we are joined by Madison, Alabama native and Bob Jones High School graduate Levi Randolph. Levi went on to play collegiately at the University of Alabama under coach Anthony Grant as a highly touted recruit. After an astounding career and highly decorated leadership leading the Crimson Tide in multiple areas, Levi declared for the NBA draft. After going un-drafted and being signed by the Boston Celtics for his rookie year, he signed to play overseas and then with a short NBA and G-League stint with the Cleveland Cavs and Canton Charge. This week we are joined by Tanner Allen. The College World Series Champion, SEC Player of the Year, & College Sportswriters Collegiate Player of the Year, is a Mobile native attending UMS Wright. While at UMS he was a 2 sport athlete leading the football team at quarterback, and the baseball team at centerfield & shortstop, he played for legendary high school coach Kevin Raley. He went on to Starkville to play at Mississippi State. A famed and storied career by Allen was capped off by leading the Bulldogs to a College World Series win! After his career at Mississippi State, Tanner was drafted by the Miami Marlins. This week we are joined by High School PHENOM Tommy Murr. Tommy is currently a Sophomore guard at Lipscomb University under Coach Lennie Acuff. Tommy is a native of Athens, Alabama. Tommy Murr is currently the ALL-TIME leading scorer in the state of Alabama, with 5,716 points. He ranks 2nd nationally All-Time. Throughout Tommy's career at Lindsay Lane he led the lions to multiple wins and deep runs throughout the playoffs. 2014 Hall of Fame Inductee Walter Jones joins the podcast this week! Walter Jones is a native of Aliceville, Alabama. Walter attended Holmes Community College where he was named the Mississippi Junior College Player of the Year. This feat earned him a scholarship to play for Legendary Coach Bobby Bowden at Florida State University. Walter came into FSU in 1995r alongside another Redshirt standout Randy Moss. After standout career at FSU Walter was voted first team All-American and entered the NFL draft. He was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 6th overall pick in the 1st Round! Walter went on to play 13 years in the NFL all for the Seahawks! After retirement in 2009 Walter's historic #71 was retired to the Seattle Seahawks Ring of Honor. Coach Mike Good was recently notified that he would be inducted into the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Coach Good lead the Madison Academy Mustangs to 4 State Championships and 8 appearances in the state championship game in Montgomery! Brittany Wagner found fame in the hit Netflix show Last Chance U, which featured East Mississippi Community College and their football team through the trials and tribulations of the season. Brittany was the athletic academic advisor. After season 2 of the show, Brittany moved to Birmingham, AL to start her foundation 10,000 pencils, which goes into school to give advice, structure, advising, and mentorship to students and teachers. While touring across America Brittany started writing a book to put all the ideas on paper and hand out to anyone that reads it! Heath is a graduate of Guntersville High School in Guntersville, Alabama as well as a Huntingdon College graduate. Heath was a standout high school basketball player that went on to play and graduate from Huntingdon. Heath has a unique perspective of how using his platform can influence the lives of so many. He also is in the position of helping guide young people in a positive direction. Coach Blake Talley is the current head baseball coach of the Grissom Tigers. After graduating from Buckhorn High School in 2012, Blake went on to play baseball at Calhoun Community College then went on to finish his career with the University of North Alabama Lions. After graduation Blake jumped into the coaching world pretty quick. In his first year as a head coach at Scottsboro High School, Coach Talley lead the wildcats to the state playoffs. After that season Coach Blake Talley was named the Grissom High School baseball coach at just 25. In this weeks episode Julian Shields takes a deep dive into the mental health of athletes. Julian is a 2012 graduate of Buckhorn High School. Julian went on to play baseball at Alabama State where he really found his calling to help other student athletes find their career path! In pursuing this, he became enamored with the psychology of athletes and what leads to their success and failures. Julian is actively pursuing his PhD at Auburn University. In pursuing his PhD he has found 4 pillars that helps young athletes have the mental clarity to be successful!  We take a deep dive into : Identity Formation, Self Belief, Self Regulation, and Future Orientation.
