In this episode, I share on my belief that sensitivity is one of the greatest gifts we can be given by reading an excerpt from my book, Live Your Freedom Now, called, “Here’s to the Sensitive Ones.” This reading speaks to my own story of trying to live into Dominant Dogma, and the journey out, and why sensitive people are innately built to break the molds put on them. If you find yourself relating to being a sensitive person, experiencing what I share in this episode, I invite you to pick up your copy of my new book,“Live Your Freedom Now.” https://megscolleen.com/work-with-me/
In this episode, I am exploring what Trauma Informed Coaching is and how to spot it. Right now, there are no regulated standards for Trauma Informed Coaching. I hope that by sharing the five dimensions of trauma informed care (defined by Roger Fallot) and how I personally view Trauma Informed Coaching, it will offer you the skill to choose a coach more wisely, as well as consider your own coaching approach if you are in the industry. If this episode speaks to you deeply about your experience around Trauma Informed Coaching and you’d like to address your experience with it, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it! https://megscolleen.com/work-with-me/
In this episode, I am exploring the Dominant Dogma of “What you want is meant for you” through the fable “The Fox and The Grapes” and bringing nuance to the experience of victimization when what you want doesn’t become a reality. I speak to how this mantra and some coaching practices perpetuate the feeling of brokenness or the story that you are doing something wrong if you don’t get or create what you want. I also share 3 ways to claim what you *really* want in a way that doesn’t contribute to the feeling of victimization. If this episode speaks to you and the victimization you may feel at times, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it! https://megscolleen.com/work-with-me/
In this episode, I am exploring the freedom you can find on the other side of the Dominant Dogma of “I’m not where I should be” through the myth of Sisyphus. I share an overview and summary of the myth of Sisyphus, the theme of Fate and what it has to do with claiming full presence, and why believing "I'm not where I should be" is essentially attempting to defy fate. I also address the role of gods/goddesses in myth as mirrors for inner conflict, emotions, and experiences and how honoring your inner gods/goddesses can be a way to meet your present fate. If this episode resonates with your desire to free yourself from the Dominant Dogma of “I’m not where I should be,” reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it! https://megscolleen.com/work-with-me/
In this episode, I am exploring the Dominant Dogma of “I’m not where I should be.” I offer up a brief reminder of how I define dominant dogma and begin to name the hierarchical structures that delineates where you "should" be in terms of your educational, developmental, and social progress. I also address the instilled drive to pursue external markers of achievement within specific timeframes, plus how important it is to practice being with where you are now, through compassion, full presence and living from your essence. If this episode speaks to you of how the Dominant Dogma of “I’m not where I should be” is affecting your experience of your life, your freedom or your business, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it! https://megscolleen.com/work-with-me/
In this episode, I am exploring the freedom beyond, and within, the Dominant Dogma of, “I deserve this.” To do this, I share the Greek myth of Narcissus and what I pulled personally from this multi-angled story. I use here to empower you to notice where you project and look to others to find your own innate wholeness and worth, and how you can work with yourself inside of your own projections. If this episode’s myth brought up your own understanding around deservedness, and you’d like to explore what more it holds for you, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it!
In this episode, I am exploring the Dominant Dogma of “I deserve this.” I share why this particular internalized belief is two sided, and include where it intersects with entitlement, privilege and the results of believing you are deserving in those contexts, but I also speak on when using this belief can be an empowering tool to build ego strength, grow in self esteem and validate your innate belonging. I include 3 ways you can use this belief if, after I display the nuances, you wish to use this narrative to claim your self worth. If this episode speaks to you of how you could be using “I deserve this” from a place of entitlement and want to bridge the gap to use it as a tool of self-worth instead, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it!
In this episode, I am exploring how to use the symbol of the Labyrinth as a way to free yourself from having to have a clear path forward, especially if you are stagnating in the Dominant Dogma that says: “I need a clear path.” I share on feeling into the labyrinth as a reflection of the journey through life and the human psyche, as well as 3 ways that Labyrinth imagery can help model and anchor you into personal freedom. Plus, I offer you a free resource and mediation using the Dromenon Finger Labyrinth. If this episode speaks to you of how you could feel by handing back the Dominant Dogma of “I need a clear path,” reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it!
In this episode, I discuss the Dominant Dogma that says: “I need a clear path” and how, according to attachment research, this is primarily rooted in fear. This includes fear of choosing the wrong thing, failure, not being good enough, change, and loss. With this in mind, I also share how to navigate the unknown including my 3 tips to overcome decision-making fear and make aligned choices for yourself. If this episode speaks to your experience of the narrative “I need a clear path,” and it’s bringing you to the edge of your desire to find personal freedom from it, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it!
In this episode, I look at moving towards the freedom beyond hiding yourself by working with the symbolism of the tree. I explain why the seed growing into the tree is an aligned representation of our essence and personal growth. I also share 3 ways and aspects of the tree that help me claim my own wholeness and stop hiding. I encourage you to listen with openness and find for yourself, in this episode, what the tree symbolizes for you! If this episode speaks deeply to your experience with claiming your wholeness and stepping into the freedom beyond hiding yourself, and you’d like to be supported in your process, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it.
In this episode, I look at the Dominant Dogma of “I have to hide parts of myself,” which is an internalized adaptive strategy and a part of healthy ego development - until it isn’t. I explain the role your ego plays in deciding what you hide from the world and stay safe, and then how the cultural and societal “rules,” punishment and oppression reinforces this inner fragmentation, as we can see with the current suppression of Trans & LGBTQIA+ in the United States.I also share why being human and having shadows go hand in hand and how important it is to trusting your enoughness, despite outer cultures that reinforce your shadow If this episode speaks deeply to your experience with the dominant dogma of “I have to hide parts of myself,” bringing you to the edge of your desire to find the freedom on the other side and you’d like to be supported, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it.
In this episode, I explore the freedom(s) on the other side of aloneness through the archetypes and themes found within the new Matilda musical on Netflix. I share how dreams, stories and imagination can help you shift your perspectives and how relating to all the characters as some aspect of yourself can create powerful insights. I also discuss the 3 ways the Matilda musical helped me feel less alone and offer journal prompts for your further reflection on all 3 themes. If this episode opens a possibility within you of getting free from the narrative that: “I’m in this alone” and you’d like to be supported in that experience, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about.
In this episode, I look at the Dominant Dogma of “I’m in this alone” and the impact it can create, including the feeling like you can’t reach out for support.. I explain how this internalized belief is often rooted in a consistent experience of not being heard and not having your needs met, and the secondary gain that believing this allows the unmet need to be held onto rather than tended to. Ultimately, this dominant dogma allows you to keep an unlived fantasy to maintain its position in your psyche, usually the one that’s saying someone will arrive to be your “rescuer.” I also share that the freedom on the other side of this hyper-competence and over-responsibility is about learning to own what you are responsible for and/also inviting others to come alongside you. If this episode mirrors for you your experience with the dominant dogma of “I’m in this alone” and brings you to the edge of your desire to lay down your hyper-competence and you’d like to be supported, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it.
In this episode, I explore the use of myth as projected self exploration. In particular, today I look at the Dominant Dogma of “F*** the haters” through the story of the Greek Goddess, Hestia and the freedom of Inner Stability & Self-Responsibility found in her mythology. I share the full mythological narrative, the ancestral trauma and ego-driven behavior in Hestia's family, and her choice to exit the family drama and live a life of peace and solitude. I also delve into the significance of the symbol of hearth and tending to the hearth of your soul. If this episode mirrors for you your experiences and brings you to the edge of your desire for personal freedom - and you’d like to be supported as you step off from that edge, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it.
In this episode, I’ll explore the Dominant Dogma around the phrase “F#&* the haters!” I share why this phrase and language can feel empowering in small doses, especially to marginalized groups, and how it contributes to othering, polarization, and exclusion. I explore the nuances of this phrase when used in place of grounded boundary setting & self-responsibility. I also encourage you to practice using clearer language to cultivate integrity via humanity, regard, and reciprocity. If this episode brings awareness in you of the Dominant Dogma of hate and how you may be using it in place of self-responsibility, regard, and nuance, and you’d like to be supported as you shed this dogma and live into your freedom, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it.
In this episode, I candidly share about falling prey to overcommitment (ever done this?) and why that means I need to pull back on the original plan for this podcast for 2023. I get honest about the experience that, even when your vision is clear and the “plan” feels really aligned, sometimes you just can’t hold the commitment to it yet. I also let you in on what my Realignment Plan is for this podcast, and share with you some encouragement and prompts if you are also finding that you’ve overcommitted to something your life, body and schedule just simply can’t support right now. If this episode brings an awareness in you of the tension between your vision and your ability to commit to it, and you’d like to be supported as you live into your freedom, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it.
In this second episode of our new format, I explore the freedom on the other side of the Dominant Dogma of: “Is my trauma keeping me from thriving?” I discuss using the symbol and myth of the Phoenix to deepen into this more reflective practice of empowerment and share a poem of my own creation using this method. I encourage you to try a similar practice yourself if you are experiencing constriction around this dogma. If this episode brings an awareness in you of the Dominant Dogma around the intersection of trauma and thriving, and you’d like to be supported as you live into your freedom, reach out and book a one-on-one call with me. Let’s talk about it.
In this first episode of our new format, I explore the Dominant Dogma of: “Is my trauma keeping me from thriving?” I discuss the definition of what trauma is and who gets to define it for you (it’s you!), as well as the nuances of big trauma, little trauma, complex trauma, intergenerational trauma and trauma experienced by neurodivergent or autistic people. I also share the real truth of this dogma, with a reminder that your body is actually doing precisely what it is supposed to. I truly believe our souls are ever working to bring us back to wholeness, but please be sure to check in to see if exploring this tender topic is right for you.
In today’s episode, I discuss how you can free yourself from the Dominant Dogma that tells you: “Change is hard.” In this episode, I share how change has taken me by surprise, again and again, and that the decision to lean into change has been one of the best and most empowering decisions myself and my clients keep making. I discuss with you how childhood safety mechanisms, unmet expectations and neurodivergence contribute to this narrative, along with past realities where change really was difficult. In order to live your freedom now, inside transition, I also offer up my 5 tips to keep calm during transition (including “Adult” safety blankets!) and invite you to download my Ecotherapy meditation and journal prompts to support you the next time you must hold yourself through big change.
