Continuing our series on mission, Billy Fenning speaks on the motive, model and method for mission in our day. And again He entered Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that He was in the house. Immediately many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receive them, not even near the door. And He preached the word to them. Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.” Mark 2:1-5

At our all-age service, Vicki Cripps speaks on the mission we have to tell everyone about the amazing things God has done. Sometimes that might feel like mission impossible, but with God’s help and the tools he has given us, it can be mission possible! Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Concluding our Christmas teaching series, Ellie Watson speaks at our Carol Service on Jesus – the wanted King. After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi[a] from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” 3 When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: 6 “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’[b]” 7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.” 9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route. Matthew 2:1-12

Phil McInnes reflects on the profound significance of Jesus as the Mighty God; the person of the one who is mighty God, his power, and then thirdly his purpose. Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan—2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,    and the government will be on his shoulders.And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom,establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness    from that time on and forever.The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:1-2,6-7

We can lose things in our lives; our keys, phones, glasses etc. and over the decades the meaning of Christmas has been lost. Keith Jackson speaks on how our purpose in life can now be found through Jesus. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost Luke 19:10
