Introducing... Bonus episodes! Since season two's episodes integrate multiple voices into one short segment, complete interviews from interviews are not released. However, select guest interviews will be chosen by popular demand to be featured as bonus episodes.   This first bonus is the interview Sofia Feliciano (host of @sofisticatedpod) and I conducted with Joe Smith, the Advocacy Director at Loaves and Fishes. Joe was featured on Season 2 Episode 2, in our discussion centering around homelessness. Tune in to our conversation to educate yourself about what the day to day looks like for individuals experiencing homelessness, and to learn about the steps we can take to help alleviate this crisis. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jianna-choi/support
This episode is a little bit different. In collaboration with Sofia Feliciano, the host of @sofisticatedpod, I had the pleasure of interviewing Joe Smith, the Advocacy Director of Loaves and Fishes who experienced homelessness firsthand for several years, and Simone Thomas, the Director of Programs at Wind Youth Services. We put this episode together in January of 2021 after a major storm significantly impacted those experiencing homelessness in downtown Sacramento.  We are also honored that this episode was recognized by NPR in 2021 as one of the top 200 podcast episodes in the annual Student Podcast Challenge.  We hope that you will learn from this podcast and feel compelled to take action against homelessness in your community.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jianna-choi/support
After several months, season 2 is finally up and ready to go! We are kicking off this season with a topic that has been hot on my mind, and on the minds of many of my peers. It's dreaded, it's stressful, and it's exciting. That's right... We're talking about college!  Tune in to hear Govind Gnanakumar, Amy Park, and Luke Jones, all rising seniors in the class of 2022, talk about how they feel about college and how the prospect of college has impacted their high school careers.  Leave a review on Apple Podcasts & follow @project.masterpiece on IG!  *Project Masterpiece is available on Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Breaker, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jianna-choi/support
The last episode for season 1 is finally out! In this interview, listen to a conversation I had with a board member of the San Juan School District, who is also the executive director of the California Edge Coalition. She's a member of Sacramento's very own "Squad", an extremely active member of the community, a parent, and an incredible individual. She is none other than Zima Creason!  Over the span of 45 minutes, we talk about BLM and other important causes, the student achievement gap, corruption in elections, what it's like being at the forefront of decision making for schools during COVID, what students can practically do to get involved, and the hateful comments & emails that come with being an elected official.  If you want to get involved with boards and committees or contact Zima directly, email zima.creason@sanjuan.edu.  Follow @project.masterpiece on Instagram for more behind the scenes information and updates!  *Project Masterpiece is available on Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Breaker, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jianna-choi/support
It's been quite a while, but a new episode is finally out! Today, tune into a conversation I had with a 19-year-old Marine who is currently studying cybersecurity for his Military Occupational Speciality. Throughout the episode, Gabriel explains his experiences undergoing the first few steps of joining the Marines+MOS school, recounts hilarious stories from boot camp (all about drill instructors), talks about valuable life lessons he's learned from the military, and more!  Also, make sure to stick around until the end of the episode to hear a bonus clip of us playing a game (hint hint it's been pretty popular lately)...   *Project Masterpiece is available on Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Breaker, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jianna-choi/support
On today's episode, I have one of my favorite teachers of all time, who is a SUPER kind individual and who is also incredibly accomplished! She graduated from Berkeley, worked at NASA for some time, switched to pharmaceutical sales, and is currently a high school biology teacher. Tune in to hear us talk about her life story, and to hear some golden pieces of advice (including ahem, relationship advice), from the one and only, Christine Sawyer!  *Project Masterpiece is available on Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Breaker, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jianna-choi/support
In today's episode, I welcome onto the show Toby Gaudreau! He is a good friend of mine, who is one of the most extroverted and positive people I know and is super involved in basically everything school-related. As I mention in the episode though, he would probably like to do the rest of the introduction...  Over a call, we talk about a lot of things, as per usual. It includes talk of quarantine and social distancing (an essential topic that must be covered in absolutely EVERY episode), school in general, sports, coffee, pet peeves, hypothetical questions like what would you do with unlimited money, what we think are the most important parts of life, positivity, shows and series like Harry Potter, politics and the over-politicization of things, music, and more!  Sit back, grab a snack, and just chill as you listen to our conversation and learn the meaning behind the title "They Gave Him an Extra Heart"!  *Project Masterpiece is available on Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Breaker, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jianna-choi/support
Today's episode deviates slightly from the others... On a Saturday afternoon, out of boredom, my younger sister and I decided to record an episode that was completely off the books and extremely casual.  Janelle is a 14-year old (almost 15) sophomore in high school who is an accomplished student, a Youtuber, a very quirky individual, and probably the person on this planet who knows me best. Join our 40-minute conversation about virtually every topic possible in life. Topics include high school, being compared to siblings, what "biggest life accomplishments" mean, societal+ethical issues, mental health, billionaires, embarrassing stories about past crushes, the new Mulan movie (no spoilers), K dramas, weird hypotheticals, and so much more.  Janelle's Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvC80NFbEuQ5_mln54BuYSw  Check out her channel and let us know if you think we should start our own podcast! Also, stay tuned for future episodes every other Tuesday at 8 am.  *Project Masterpiece is available on Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Breaker, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jianna-choi/support
After weeks of planning, I finally had the pleasure of remotely interviewing Vasudha Anand, the mother of two high school upperclassmen, a dentist, and according to a five year old, a Power Ranger.  Join me as I listen to Vasudha share her experiences about what it's like being a dentist, the education involved, the struggles and joys of moving from India to the US, her thoughts on parenting (including dating), tech support, and more! Stay tuned for new episodes every other Tuesday at 8 am!  *Project Masterpiece is available on Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Breaker, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jianna-choi/support
Once upon a time (but really only a couple of years ago), I learned to use the word "stoked" from someone who genuinely seemed to be excited about everything he did. Today, I am stoked to bring to you an interview with that very person. A pastor and a very bright individual who recently became a father, please welcome Matthew Mobley!  In this episode we discuss what it's like being a pastor, the craziest moments of life, advice for growing up, challenges in coming to terms with our shortcomings, the fears that come with being a father, future dating policies, and of course, a very beautiful truth. *Project Masterpiece is available on Anchor, Breaker, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Stitcher, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jianna-choi/support
Listen to the peaceful melodies of birds chirping and helicopters roaring as I interview one of my best friends. She's a 16-year old attending an IB high school, the host of "Sofisticated", and a downright amazing individual.  Throughout this 20 minute episode, we talk about her podcast, the struggles of being biracial, the ups and downs of high school (and advice), habbies (a new word we invented), big life lessons, and last but definitely not least, superpowers.  Sof's IG- @felicisof Sofisticated IG- @sofisticatedpod (make sure to go follow it!) *Both Project Masterpiece and Sofisticated are available on Anchor, Breaker, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jianna-choi/support
Join me in an exclusive + remote interview with the founder of the non-profit Chicks in Crisis. She is the winner of countless awards, including the Women of the Year award, and the Nonprofit of the Year award in 2018. She's also been published in every major news source in the community including Fox40, ABC10, and CBS. She is none other than Inez Whitlow!  In this episode, we talk about some of the underrepresented but prevalent issues in society such as teen pregnancy, foster care, homelessness, and drug abuse. Inez explains her life story and experiences, ranging from being a teen mom herself, to being the mother of four children, to managing Chicks in Crisis (pretty much 24/7), to how COVID impacted her efforts.  Check out the Chicks in Crisis website and Facebook page:  Facebook- @OfficialCIC  Website- https://chicksincrisis.org/ *Project Masterpiece is available on Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Breaker, Google Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jianna-choi/support
It's a hot day, we're tired, and we leave room for many grammatical errors as we settle down for a 30-minute interview. In this episode, a 20-year-old and rising junior at Cornell University gives her "hot take" on certain aspects of life.  Topics covered include quarantine, the Black Lives Matter movement, the nonprofit she founded (and advice for starting one), what life as an Ivy League student is like, and her experience with relationships.
