What is Jesus calling you to do?
Yes, you can be a Saint.
Jesus says, "Be perfect, therefore, as your Heavenly Father is perfect" (Mathew 5:48). That's impossible, you may say, but remember "Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." (Mathew 19:26). Trust in God and he can make you a Saint!
“Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned; he was born blind so that God's works might be revealed in him. We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.””
John 9:3-5 NRSV
"One thing I do know is that I was blind and now I see." (John 9:25)
As we meditate on this Gospel passage, let's reflect on how the power of Grace can transform us into new images of Christ.
As we meditate on the reading from John 8:31-59, let's go deeper into Jesus' invitation, "“If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Mathew 18:1-5
"At that time the disciples approached Jesus and said, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said, “Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me."
John 8:29 "The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what is pleasing to him."
How can I please the Lord? Let's explore this question through the wisdom books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job. Let's end with the gospel of John to find the underlying principle behind this question.
"Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God." (Mathew 5:8) Reflecting on John 8:21-30 as we reflect on how to see Abba Father in Jesus
John 8:12 "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
