In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast..... Introducing the 2nd Doctor This time Phil and Scott look at how Patrick Troughton was introduced to the world in 1966 with episode one of The Power of The Daleks. With a new take on the Doctor, how effective was this episode in introducing a new actor to the role and what was the impact this had on the show? Along the way both Phil and Scott take conversational diversions to the BBC Shop, the Children's Film Foundation and Screen Test. In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Introducing The First Doctor In an occasional series, Phil and Scott are discussing the episodes of Doctor Who that introduced us to a new Doctor. And to kick things off, they start right at the very beginning with William Hartnell in An Unearthly Child. With a lot to set up and with the very first episode being filmed twice, Phil and Scott look at the pilot and the transmitted episodes and how effective were either of them in introducing the Doctor to the world. Also, in the news, Varada Sethu is officially announced as the 15th Doctor's companion for season 2 and that she will be travelling alongside Millie Gibson! In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Who's He? at The Movies | Night of The Demon This time Phil takes a look at one of his favourite British horror movies, Night of the Demon starring Dana Andrews. In a tale of witchcraft, hairy demons and disbelieving square jawed scientists, this M.R. James classic ghost story is bought to the silver screen in a film that Phil has been fascinated with since he was a child. In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Horror of Fang Rock - Review This episode Phil and Scott settled down to watch the new and shiny version of Horror of Fang Rock from the recent Season 15 blu-ray collection. New effects, screaming ladies and plenty of fog is the order of the day with Tom Baker and Louise Jameson on fine form. They also go through the number of changes made to the special effects (spoilers ahoy!) and Phil takes Scott through a quick potted history of producer Graham Williams and touches upon how awkward Tom Baker was towards him. But what's this? The BBC also release a new trailer for the upcoming series of Doctor Who, along with all 8 episode titles. Of course, the lads talk about that as well. In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Review - The Caves of Androzani What has taken these two so long to get around to talking about this story?  In episode in which Phil has the occasional disagreement with his microphone stand, Paul and he discuss The Caves of Androzani, Peter Davison's final story in the role of the Doctor. While considered an all time classic by just about everyone, will Phil and Paul find fault? And just why didn't the Doctor take his medicine early? The news is also covered as we get Paul's take on the method in which the new series is being released on iPlayer first and their reaction to Steven Moffat returning to write for Doctor Who. But they don't talk about the new trailer as this was recorded way in advance of that! In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Review - Flatline Phil and Scott decided to revisit the Peter Capaldi era of Doctor Who with Flatline, a story that has little bit of significance for Phil as this was the first episode of Doctor Who that he watched with Scott way back in 2014! But how does this story hold up for both of them after all this time and how does Clara's story arc of wanting to be the Doctor feel to them both? Also, in the news Doctor Who is back on our screens on 11th May but with a twist that will upset purists! In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Scott on Target In between noisy mobile phones and kicking the microphone stand, Scott and Phil spend 30 minutes talking about the Doctor Who Target books that he bought with his pocket money. From Kinda to The Androids of Tara, Scott tells us why he's starting buying these books, whilst Phil tells us his about his relationship with Target books for the umpteenth time. In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast..... Review - The Celestial Toymaker Animation In a first for this podcast, we attended a world premiere!  Yes, Phil & Scott visited the BFI on London's glittering South Bank to watch the freshly animated The Celestial Toymaker, starring William Hartnell, Peter Purves, Jackie Lane and Michael Gough. In a return to the animation style used for The Web of Fear, fandom was once again up in arms at what was perceived as a step backwards for animating missing episodes. But did that 90 second trailer for The Celestial Toymaker do this project any justice? And how did Phil and Scott feel after they watched all four animated episodes? The answer may surprise you! In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast...... Review - Seas of Titan Paul and Phil listened to Seas of Titan from Big Finish for this episode, starring Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor and this time he's up against the Sea Devils! The lads thought they might be in for treat, but was this a feeling of been there, seen it, done it? A case of deja vu if you will. And this leads them to discuss how easy is it to bring back classic villains in new and interesting ways? But was this a feeling of been there, seen it, done it? A case of deja vu if you will. And what one hit wonder monster would Paul and Phil bring back if it could be done right? But was this a feeling of been there, seen it, done it? A case of deja vu if you will. In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Who's He? at The Movies | The Man Who Haunted Himself This time Phil looks at The Man Who Haunted Himself starring Roger Moore. Could this be Roger Moores best film and his best performance? In this psychological thriller, Moore plays against type as a man whose life is turned upside down by what he thinks is someone impersonating him, causing him and his friends and family to question his sanity. But the truth is much more terrifying. In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Death to the Daleks | Audio Commentary Part 2 This episode, Scott and Phil return with part 2 of their audio commentary for Death to the Daleks which was chosen by our listeners. This time they sat down through the final two episodes of this Jon Pertwee story and gaze in wonder as the Doctor is stopped dead in his tracks by a bathroom floor and Scott starts talking American. Don't forget to watch along at home! You can find us on X and Facebook, you can subscribe to our show on Apple Podcasts/iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Podcasts, Google Podcasts plus many other podcatchers and don't forget to subscribe to our Youtube Channel. #DoctorWho #DeathtotheDaleks #Whoniverse
In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Death to the Daleks | Audio Commentary Part 1 After putting the vote to our listeners, Phil and Scott sat down to record part one of an audio commentary for Death to the Daleks starring Jon Pertwee as the Doctor with Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith. With the Doctor and Sarah Jane stranded on the planet Exxilon, they stumble across a grumpy Scotsman and a ships captain with an ill fitting wig. And to make matters worse the Daleks turn up as well! Marvel as Phil tries (and fails) to explain to Scott how the Doctors companions were written in the 1970's, just before Sarah lamps an Exxilon round the lughole with a starting handle and how Phil used to play Doctor Who as a nipper. Oh and Scott does a swear. Join Phil and Scott next week for part two of the commentary. In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Review - Planet of The Spiders This time and in a little tribute to the late Richard Franklin, Phil and Paul turn their attention to Planet of The Spiders. Notable for being the story that brings Jon Pertwee's time in the role to a close, it was also the end of an era with the UNIT family finally broken up for good. But just how did a bitter salesman with a lust for power bring about the third Doctor's demise? And Paul explains what hand signals mean to Gareth Hunt. But before they start on Planet of The Spiders, they also look at all the fuss surrounding Millie Gibson in the press right now and their obsession as to her leaving the role of Ruby Sunday after one season. In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Review - Curiosity Shop In a cheeky move, Phil drops in a sneaky one man podcast to talk about Curiosity Shop from Big Finish. This audio from a new volume of 11th Doctor stories starring Jacob Dudman as the Doctor, sees the mysterious Mr. Foreman pottering about in his junkyard with a blue box called Barbara. But is he all he seems and why is he interested in hearing stories about the Doctor? Phil gives a short review on first full audio he has listened to starring Jacob Dudman performing as Matt Smith. However, perhaps he should have listened to this story in the right order as he finds a something troubles him about the Doctors character.  But what brightens his day is the presence of the legend that is Derek Griffiths! In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Who's He? at The Movies | Cry of The Banshee Phil returns to the world of film and horror with 1970's Cry of The Banshee. Starring Vincent Price, this tale of witchcraft in Elizabethan England, seemed to have a lot going for it. But when your lead actor applies generous slices of thick cut ham and your film doesn't actually feature a Banshee, what do you end up with? Listen as Phil takes you on a journey with monsters that have massive hairy heads. You can find us on X and Facebook, you can subscribe to our show on Apple Podcasts/iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Podcasts, Google Podcasts plus many other podcatchers and don't forget to subscribe to our Youtube Channel. #vincentprice #cryofthebanshee #movie

So join Phil and Paul as they look at the beginning of this new era of Doctor Who and ponder what would the third Doctor do? And has Phil got over his hatred of musicals? But Paul compares ABBA to goblins and wither the Goblin Teasmade. We also find out what our listeners think in our feedback section. In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... The News The Celestial Toymaker gets animated in a rather confused blu-ray launch and the 15th Doctor's sonic screwdriver is revealed (though screwdriver is pushing it as a description). Review - The Giggle Well, we've reached the end of the 60th Anniversary of Doctor Who with The Giggle.  But what's this?  Neither Phil or Paul could make their minds up?  Well, amongst all the similarities between The Toymaker and The Master, the pair of them did actually enjoy the story and the creepy parts involving Stookie Bill and Stookie Susie and the reveal of Ncuti Gatwa minus his trousers.  But at the end of the day Phil just doesn't like fun. You can find us on X and Facebook, you can subscribe to our show on Apple Podcasts/iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Podcasts, Google Podcasts plus many other podcatchers and don't forget to subscribe to our Youtube Channel. #doctorwho #thegiggle #whoniverse
In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Review - Wild Blue Yonder We've reached the middle episode of the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary specials and the lads are divided!  Phil initally thought he watched the worst ever episode of Doctor Who, while Paul enjoyed it!  But after a second watch, did either of them change their mind?  And how may salt and mavity effect what it is to come?  But while they may be undecided, one thing they could agree on was the final appearance of the mighty Bernard Cribbins. You can find us on X and Facebook, you can subscribe to our show on Apple Podcasts/iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Podcasts, Google Podcasts plus many other podcatchers and don't forget to subscribe to our Youtube Channel. #doctorwho #wildblueyonder #whoniverse
