What is the appropriate age at which to have a mustache? Emily has a strong opinion about it. You wouldn’t want to miss that, would you?

Have you ever wanted to time-travel to right after everyone* got vaccines? Well, now you can! David and Emily host their very successful friend Ian to talk about historical journalists, historical distillers, and a bunch of stuff going on in our lives that is now like “oh yeah, I forgot that was going on in my life at all.” Disregard any biographical details you hear in this episode because they are definitely out of date, and just enjoy the learning and friendship!

Cast your mind back to March 13, 2019. Colton Underwood is the Bachelor. The college admissions scandal is all over the news. Emily still lives in Austin. No one has ever heard of coronavirus. Okay, are you there? GOOD. Now you’re in the right headspace, because…. the long-awaited lost episode of Care for Free is here! It guest-stars Hannah G (who doesn’t have to be the Bachelorette now because she has a great boyfriend), and I honestly think it’s one of our best. David talks current events, which are now not current, and Emily talks her favorite Shakespeare play, which wasn’t current anyway. Enjoy!

This week, Emily tries to make David care about the wild ride of Elizabeth Holmes’s company Theranos and David tries to make Emily care about the Lakers on the other end of their season. This episode features the sultry tones (and borrowed microphone) of the guest producer Caleb Richard aka @crazeepreacher, lightly roasted. Tune in and turn it up!

The Pod Awakens! After another one of our famous hiatuses, David and Emily (and guest producer Hannah Norton) journey back into the sea of caring. David tries to make Emily care about Lil Wayne’s feud with Birdman, and Emily tries to make David care about silver screen star Hedy Lamarr and her 1942 patent. Will they care? Probably! Emily tries to make David care about the Martha Mitchell Effect, and David tries to make Emily care about a car race. Guest producer Doug Coonfield also weighs in. Warning: we all do a little light spoiling of jokes in Infinity War and who's in the cast, plus Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Thor: Ragnarok. This episode is movie-heavy and pretty rambly. Emily hopes y'all are okay with that, because she loved it. Corrections: David has seen Eternal Sunshine. Emily has seen Leroy Jenkins. Ahnold was paid $25 MILLION for Batman & Robin, which was $1 million PER MINUTE OF SCREENTIME. Clooney did make $10 million tho, which is not too shabby. The Truman Show came out in 1998, which is very much not 1989.

Third time's the charm. David talks about Union General Joseph Hooker, and Emily basically just reads words written by Emma Thompson. Emily and David have a LOT of sidetracks on this one, which Emily believes proves the need for a guest producer in the studio (by which she means Emily's bedroom closet).

In our second episode, Emily tries to make David care about a copyright dispute over a wildlife photo and David tries to make Emily care about (protracted siiiiiigh) Pokémon. The inimitable Ashlyn Royall guest-produces! Privately, Emily worries that she may have over-edited the episode, and that calling it "Naruto & Magikarp" will drive away the last vestiges of the CFF audience. Only one way to find out!
