Lesley is from the UK and is a 61 years old who suffered from obesity most of her life.
Lesley was born a normal healthy weight but by the time she was 3 months old she was overweight and remained so for the whole of her childhood, at 7 years old she was 98 pounds, 45 kgs, at 10 she was 140 pounds, 73.5 kilos.
This weight gain continued till she was 13, she then suffered an acute illness, ulcerative colitis, and her weight loss was fast and severe, down to 98 pounds 45kg
After the illness and being on steroids Lesley’s weight increased rapidly, and low calories diets and bulimia followed.
By the time Lesley was 17 she was completely messed up weight wise, life was either severe food restricting or binging.
Weight came on and was dieted off until her limit was reached when she was 40, Lesley weighed 320 pounds 145 kg, and at 5ft 2” this was a very large unhealthy weight to be.
Needless to say a restrictive diet followed and the weight came off, and stayed off for a few months. But the same old story, the weight came back, in desperation Lesley paid to have a gastric bypass operation, again the weight came off and stayed off for a while but then started creeping back on.
May 17th 2020 Lesley was discussing on a FB group how she needed to loose the 14 pounds she had gained and how disappointed she was with herself that she couldn’t get started on a low calorie diet. This was the first time she heard the phrase Intermittent fasting.
That afternoon she downloaded Delay Dont Deny by Gin Stephens, and she started her fasting lifestyle the very next day.
Lesley reached her goal of 30 pounds loss by November 2020 but has since then lost more weight. She has now lost a total of 47 pounds 21.5kgs and has gone from 170.5 pounds to 123 pounds.
Lesley is now confident her weight is now under control, she has clean fasted from the first day and loves the IF WOL!

My name is Corey Martin. I’m 24 years old and based on the Gold Coast, Australia. I’m fortunate to have an incredibly supportive family and partner who have backed me every step of the way. I’m currently on a significant weight-loss and health journey and am proud to say I’m down 60kg so far, with strong motivation to keep going. This journey began after listening to one of The Fasting Highway episodes in September 2024, which my aunt recommended during a very challenging period in my life. At the time, I was struggling deeply with my health and well-being and had recently been turned down for a job due to my weight (172kg). This came after a particularly low point, where a back injury left me unable to work or do much of anything for around six months. Something truly clicked after hearing your episode — a switch I had tried to flip before, but never successfully followed through on. This time was different. In October 2024, I began intermittent fasting alongside awhole-food diet. The results were remarkable, and it motivated me to push further. I started with walking and gradually introduced weight training and cardio, with guidance and support from my older brother, Haydn. I held myself strictly accountable and remained disciplined with my nutrition. During this time, I also undertook several major internationaltrips. In February, I spent three weeks in Japan with my partner, Ella, and my younger brother, Blake. In May, Ella and I embarked on a 33-day cruise from Sydney to Vancouver, with many incredible stops along the way. We then spent time in Whistler before travelling to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. While international travel can often disrupt progress, I was determined to stay consistent — and I’m proud to say I did. Today, I’m at 112kg and genuinely couldn’t be happier. My life has changed in countless positive ways.Graeme's Links to connect with me directly. Bonnie is a 63-year-old woman from the United States. She and her husband live in Oregon. She works full-time in an office setting. After being very thin throughout childhood and teen years, Bonnie first experienced the need to lose weight in her mid-twenties, following the birth of her first child. Like her mom before her, she used Weight Watchers to lose weight successfully, but could not sustain the program for very long or maintain the weight loss. Using that and numerous other methods, she was in a repetitive cycle of weight loss and regain more each time for decades. She first learned about IF in 2017 through Dr Jason Fung's book The Obesity Code. She found the science very convincing, and it helped her feel hope for a better health future than her family's. She started IF but couldn’t make it stick. In 2020, she discovered the importance of Clean Fasting and tried a few more times with some success, but not yet with consistency. She felt frustrated and self-condemned for how far she had let herself go and for not having the fortitude to stick with anything. In January 2025, Bonnie turned the corner toward a better quality of life now and optimism about her future health when she committed to a life practice of IF. With consistent daily fasting and trying different fasting protocols, she found the groove thatworked best for her and lost over 50 lbs. She has been maintaining the loss for five months. She may adjust protocols, as needed, but believes IF will always be part of her life. She is not looking back. She continues to grow as a student of IF science, making better food choices, and adding strength training and intentional movement to her routine to help her age with strength. She enjoys the fasting community, learning from and sharing ideas andencouragement with others. My highest weight was 233 lbs at 5’0”. That was in 2008. At that time, I went through with gastric bypass surgery. I had always been somewhat overweight, but through four pregnancies, I just kept gaining. I also dealt with postpartum depression and unresolved childhood trauma, which probably led to more overeating and a lack of motivation and energy. After the surgery, I lost weight quickly. I found myself in the 120-pound range. I was loving life. I soon began going out to bars and partying, leaving my husband and children behind. I eventually left my husband, split up our family, and continued down that very selfish path. I believe that I was self-medicating and replacing my food addiction with alcohol. I loved the attention I was getting from men. I somehow managed to raise my children for the next 17 years, but that road was really rough, especially for them. I ended up losing my career as a certified nursing assistant, dealt with legal ramifications after a couple of DWIs, and lost custody of two of my children for a time due to the drinking. I fought with my weight off and on during those years, never gaining all of it back, but certainly not taking care of myself consistently. I found myself in rehab and psychiatric hospitals as I tried to get the drinking under control. On May 12, 2025, I woke up. I have not looked back. I stopped drinking that day and have not touched it since. I am not sure to this day what finally shook me to my senses. It took a couple of weeks as I gently worked within myself to decide what was important to me and who I wanted to be. I knew that I wanted to live the most whole life possible and be the personmy children had been missing out on all of these years. I somehow came across the idea of intermittent fasting. I honestly can’t remember where. I started listening to Gin Stephens’ podcasts, then read her book ‘Fast, Feast, Repeat, and on June 13, I began Alternate Day Fasting. I fast for 36 hours and then eat primarily whole foods during a 12-hour window. I am very forgiving of myself and allow exceptions. I have taken a vacation, gone camping, and celebrated essential events with food, but as soon as the trip or event is over, I jump right back into my schedule. If I want a treat,I plan to have it during my 12-hourwindow. I also feel that a clean fast is crucial. I stick with water - adding sea salt to some every morning, black coffee, plain green or black tea, or plain seltzer water. Unfortunately, my job does require that I taste-test cream cheese some days, but I do what I have to do and then jump right back into my schedule. ADF has changed my life. I don’t think I would have continued my sobriety had I not started intermittent fasting. It gives me a sense of control over my day. I have added pilates and yoga daily, and I'm trying to get in 10,000 steps. I have been able to stop taking all of my depression, anxiety and psychosis medications. Turns out when you aren’t drinking, and you take care of your body, your mind is much healthier!(This isn’t to say that everyone who follows intermittent fasting will be able to step away from the help that behavioural health medications provide - it just turns out that my issues were alcohol related and resolved after stopping drinking and through therapy.) When I began my journey toward a healthier me, I weighed 172 pounds. I have since lost 47 pounds as of October 26 and have reached mygoal weight of 125 pounds. I do have a new goal of 110pounds, but am completely fine with where I’m at. My mantra is ‘I’m Never Going Back’!Show Links Come and Join Our Patreon Community At the Link Belowwww.patreon.com/thefastinghighway 'Come for a month, check it out, and get all the content. To Book a Zoom Call With Graeme One-on-One, Go Here www.thefastinghighway,com To Read My Book The Fasting Highway Amazon or all good book sellers. To Listen to My Audio Book Apple Books or many Audio Book Platforms Free on Joining The Patreon Community
My name is Dianne LeBlanc. I am 67 years old. And, living in Canada, I have been married to the same wonderful man for 48 years. We have 2 adult children, ages 46 and 44, and 2 wonderful grandkids, ages 14 and 13. I did not have a weight problem growing up, but like many, after having my children, I started gaining weight. I joined WW when I was around 30 years old and soon became a lifetime member. The first time I joined I probably had 15 pounds to lose. I gained it all back and more in no time and struggled, always. I tried many different diets over the years, but none were sustainable. Fast forward to December 31st 2024, 2 months after my retirement, I was at my highest weight, probably close to 170, but I’m not sure, because I was no longer weighing. I’m 5’1’’ tall, and size 12 was too small. I was very disappointed in myself and thought that I was just going to get bigger. I could see myself turning into my mother, who has been miserable all her life because of her weight. I’m down over 30 pounds and 4 pant sizes since January 1st of this year. I’m not sure if I have much more to lose, but I’m counting on my body to let me know.Come and Join Our Patreon Community. Hello! Nice to connect with fellow Intermittent Fasters from around the world. My name is Hope, and I welcome you to join me in reflecting on my new journey of committing to losing weight for the last time. I live in Maine with my supportive and loving husband and best friend, Kevin, near the beach, alongside our dogs, Bea and Lou. I joined the Fasting Highways Patreon community in May of 2025 and am not looking back. From being placed on a diet as a preteen through adulthood, of going through nursing school, getting married and having 3 children, getting divorced, having anadult child diagnosed with a mental health issue, & working through Covid as a RN,,,,, I continued to yo-yo up and down with weight fluctuations and trying various diets (cabbage soup diet, weight watchers, slim fast, South Beach, lowcarb, Adkins, faith based intuitive eating plan, etc.) only repeating the same patterns. Gain weight, try another diet, lose some weight, regain, plus some. Sound familiar? Self-reflecting on how I got to this place, I have realised that I turned to food in unhealthy ways to manage my stress &suppress unwanted feelings, mainly overeating sugary foods, and had unrealistic expectations around weight loss. It is about the journey now and being patient with myself, to create a healthier lifestyle while staying plugged into alike-minded community for support & encouragement, while being consistent. The journey so far has brought freedom from food noise, a mindset shift, & has evolved into so much more than a 25-pound weight loss. I’m just getting started! In this episode, we check in with Erika from episode 212, recorded in February 2024. Erika is 45 years old and lives in Pennsylvania, USA, with her family and pets, working in the beauty industry.Bio In March of 2022, Erika decided it was time for a change —and that’s when her journey with intermittent fasting began. In just the first year, she lost nearly 90 pounds, going from her highest weight of 249 to feeling her best in the 160s. She says that’s where her body felt strong, balanced, and free.Fasting didn’t just change her weight — it transformed her mindset, energy, and confidence. Erika had hoped that fasting might also heal her Achilles tendonitis and heel spur, but in late 2024, she needed surgery. What could have been a setback became another part of her story. Her recovery was quick and inspiring — her doctors were amazed — and today she focuses on gentle movement, stretching, yoga, and light walking to stay active. Not long after her last podcast, life got even busier — and sweeter. Her youngest daughter moved in with her three-month-old baby, and just a month later, Erika discovered that her eldest daughter was also expecting. It’s been a year filled with love, laughter, and big family moments.Through it all, Erika stayed grounded in fasting. Sure, she’s had some longer eating windows and maybe a few too many sweets — but she knows exactly how to reset. And now, her daughter Kiana has joined the journey too, losing over 70 pounds through fasting after weaning her baby.Erika shares her story and encouragement on Instagram at @Pause and Fast, reminding everyone that wellness doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive — it just takes consistency, curiosity, and a whole lot of self-love.To connect with Erika https://www.instagram.com/pause_and_fast/Fasting isFree (@pause.and.fast) | TikTokComing soon: The Pause and Fast Podcast on Spotify. I’m Elaine, and I’m 59 years old. I’ve been fasting for 6 years now, and it still remains the easiest and most effective way of keeping weight off for me. I’m not one of these people who have been able to lose the initial weight, and never put another pound on - I have had several hiccups along the way, where medication, illness or stress has allowed my weight to rise, and required me to fall back to fasting to get it off again. But it’s always there. So reliable for me, and I know I’m lucky that my body always responds to IF very quickly. I lost my job last year, and that was a very stressful period. Then Julian and I decided to sell our house, but after nine months, it hadn’t sold, and both of our stress levels were off the scale. In June of this year, we decided to rent out our house and buy a boat in the Midlands of the UK. Even that was stressful - leaving a five-bedroom house for a two-bedroom boat was extraordinarily difficult, but, as always, we got through it. My weight was up and down like a yo-yo, but now I’m out walking again (my only exercise!), and we’re living a relaxed, happy life on the boat. Winter is about to come, and we think that will be difficult, but I don’t mind difficult things under my control; I just hate when other people drive me down a stressful path! My advice for fasters remains the same from the first time I spoke on Graeme’s podcast - don’t compare yourself to others because comparison is the thief of joy, we are all individuals, and everyone of us will have a different reactionto something someone else is doing, and live your life - IF shouldn’t take the joy from your life, it should add to it because now you look and feel fantastic!!To help Elaine with her amazing charity walk on the Camino, please follow the link below. Bio By Ros BolandI’m Ros, 46 years old, and I am a Teacher Aide at a school in Dalby, Queensland, Australia. I have been married for 23 years to a wonderful man, Justin, who has been a great supporter of my journey. I have three amazing children, Jimmy, 21, Clare, 19, and Leila, 17, who are incredibly proud of me and my greatest assets. I grew up in a Lebanese family where food is such an important thing. Although growing up we didn’t eat processed foods I was surrounded by great cooks. I was an active young girl and lived on a farm where we had to work alongside our Mum and Dad. I was always so much bigger than my peers at school, and I was always physically active. Once I left school, my weight increased as I was very social and never wanted to miss out. I put on a lot of weight living the lifestyle of most 18-year-olds. I ended up joining Gloria Marshal and lost a lot of weight, but soon put it all back on. When I got married in 2002, I joined Weight Watchers and lost 20kg, and I felt great. I was 78kg. Once again, I gotback into bad habits and put on weight plus some. In 2003, I had 2 miscarriages, and in 2004, I had my first baby, and Igained 18kgs. I just kept getting bigger after each pregnancy, and I was in denial as to how big I had gotten. I was resigned to the fact that I would always be a big woman; I come from a line of big people. I’ve always enjoyed cooking for my family and entertaining, and I just thought this is normal, this is who I am. In 2022, I went to my doctor, and she told me that I was morbidly obese and I was killing myself. I knew that I was in a bad way with my weight, and I just didn’t know what to do. I have a family history of heart disease and diabetes, so I knew that I didn’t want to end up like so many of my family members. My doctor suggested I take Ozempic, so I did. My highest weight was 153.2kg (337.7 pounds) in January 2022. I lost 20kg on Ozempic by July 2022 and could no longer get Ozempic due to not being a diabetic. I was honestly devastated as it was working so well. In September 2022, I ran into a friend who had lost a significant amount of weight and asked what she had been doing. We discussed Intermittent fasting, and I started listening to Gin Stephens' podcasts, immediately starting with clean fasting and delaying my eating window. I read her book, "Delay Don’t Deny." I focused on what I was eating, and at first, I didn’t really change what I was eating, but I soon realised my body wanted different things. I went on to lose 33kg and am still losing. My current weight is around 100kg. I don’t actually weigh myself, but go on how my clothes feel. I don’t set myself goals as I have struggled with this all my life, and I know I just get disappointed when I haven’t achieved them. I started out unable to walk to the end of my street, which is only about 100 metres, and I knew I loved to walk, but I just didn’t have the motivation to do it. I now walk between 7-10 kilometres 5 days a week, and this is due to IF. Walking with my best friend, Chelsea, has been the best thing for both my mental and physical well-being. Without her support, I wouldn’t be so committed.Since starting IF, I haven’t looked back; losing over 53kg over the past few years has been the best thing. I have had so many NSV along the way, and I will never go back to not living this lifestyle. To join the Patreon Community. Married for 32 years to my childhood sweetheart, Bart, I have 3 wonderful daughters, Gabby, 25, Zoe, 23 and Millie, 17 years, and a gorgeous new addition, Grandbaby Charles,s 10wks old xxxx Started with bestie Ros (bf on episode 430 on Gin), Feb 23, walking as I had joined a Diet Phenomenon that hit our town called Weight Loss Coaching Works September 2022: Lost 15 kg from 90 kg to 75 kg. Feb 2023, then fell off the train of the latest fad as it was too hard, just constantly bloated from constant eating 24/7.So, I knew my daughter was getting married in September 2025 and was uncomfortable again, so I decided to pull on my big girl pants and started at 88.4kg on May 14th 2025, OMAD and religiously joined Graeme in the Patreon Zoom meetings as I have always needed accountability, so got to the wedding on 19th Sept 2025, 16.4kg down andThe photos say it all, and the number of people who just said, 'Chelsea, you look so healthy,' was a wonderful feeling on both the outside and inside. So freeing, especially being on holiday and the foodnoise gone and longer windows, but just having the OMAD on hols like an entree, main, desert and the odd 1 or 5 cocktails, and so freeing putting my clothes onEach morning on the holiday, they just slip on because I still have that stupid mental noise: 'Oh, Chelsea, you are on holiday, here comes the weight gain!'Anyway, I’m finally free now, and I still want to reach the 20kg-44 Pounds Mark, but if it takes another six months, who cares? Married to my wonderful husband, Terence (Terry), I had a weight issue from around the age of 30; before that, no issues with my weight. I've always struggled with ‘sugar’ (I still have to work hard to stay away from it). I did all the diets known to man, I would lose weight but always put it back on, and I thought I was destined to be overweight! Started fasting in 2016 ( not clean fasting) It wasn’t until I found Graeme Curries Book The Fasting Highway that I jumped straight into clean fasting in 2020 (lockdown) I started on weekdays at 23:1 and on weekends at 18:6 - 16:8Weekends. I’ve always eaten healthy, but I just ate far too much. I love working out and do so four to five times a week. Hiking, Gym sessions, and Dancing. In this episode, we pay tribute to our very dear community member Karen Cahill, who sadly passed away recently. Karen and I were kindred spirits in many ways, with a lot of similarities in our fasting journeys. Karen lost 170 pounds living an intermittent fasting lifestyle and was a shining light in our community for some years. Karen was always looking to pay it forward and help others. She was truly an amazing person. Karen was living her best life and enjoying all that transformation brings. I will miss her as a good friend and a great member of our Patreon community. This podcast was recorded exclusively for our Patreon community and has not been aired in the mainstream until now. RIP Karen, and thank you for everything you did for us all. Special mention of Kaen's family, whom she often spoke about in 1a loving way. We are thinking of you all, Karen, forever in our hearts at The Fasting Highway Community.
Bio update: Since we last spoke, I faced some serious medical challenges and started to get looser with both food choices and fasting hours. I took this as a “wake-up call” and am now focusing much more on what I choose to eat, and have reached my lowest weight (still not quite where I want to be ultimately) To join the Patreon Community. I’m Anna, 41 years old, and I live on a small lifestyle property in Ashburton, New Zealand, with my husband Russ and three young children. I’m a part-time primary school teacher and stay-at-home Mum. I grew up in an ‘average’ Kiwi home in the 80s/90s; very few takeaways and ultra-processed foods, but delicious home-cooked meals and a really active lifestyle, playing a lot of sport. I developed early and had a lean, athletic build. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 14 years old, and later with insulin resistance and hypothyroidism. Playing a lot of sport kept my weight in check, but I always felt bigger than my peers. The freedom to eat what I wanted, partying at university and decreased physical activity after moving out of home saw my weight balloon. I’ve done Weight Watchers multiple times over the years and could lose a lot of weight since I’m a rule follower and very good at keeping to a diet! But Icould never get to that point of maintenance. Returning to NZ after living overseas, I met Russ, and started doing CrossFit in 2014 and seeing a nutritionist. I focused on eating nutrient-dense ‘clean’ foods and lost about 20kg. In 2017, Russ and I married, and I was the smallest I’d been in a long time. A year later, we had our son, and 21 months later, our middle daughter. I sadly miscarried our 3rd baby and then had our youngest daughter in 2022. I developed gestational diabetes early on in my last pregnancy and was injecting insulin. This, coupled with a family history of diabetes on both sides of my family, meant I was on track to develop diabetes in the near future. Being pregnant 4 times in 5 years and looking after a young family meant my health took a back seat, and I continued putting on weight. I’ve always enjoyed cooking healthy meals for my family and kept working out, but was fighting a losing battle. I was resigned to the fact I would be plus size for the rest of my life, and was trying to be ok with that, I couldn’t see any other way.On 15 July 2024, I started IF and haven’t looked back, losing over 35kg in just over a year and am now heading towards the land of maintenance. Hello. I am Larry Zydek, and I recently celebrated my 70th birthday. For most of those 70 years, I have had a weight problem. When I was a child, I was overweight (fat) to the point that on special occasions, my mother had to have suits custom-made. What an embarrassment. Husky was the word for fat clothes, as most people know. When I turned 11, a doctor prescribed what I think was an amphetamine. I, too, for a short period, along with some diet modification, lost weight and kept it off reasonably well until my mid-twenties. Then, marriage, children, and work, without vigilance over food and drink, resulted in weight gain. Each time I peaked I tried to lose the weight. I tried Weight Watchers, Atkins, low-fat, low-carb, and low-calorie diets, as well as those by Dean Ornish and Michael Thurmond, among others. Each of them worked and then did not work. I supplemented my exercise routine with activities such as aerobics, weightlifting, stair climbing, walking, and biking. Exercise, while beneficial for your health, does not significantly contribute to weight loss or weight control. In my mid-forties, I developed a thyroid condition called Hashimoto’s disease. It is an autoimmune disease that, if uncontrolled, can kill you, and I was close to that at the time. It is easily controlled via hormone replacement, but I blamed it for my inability to lose weight year after year. My lifelong struggle to lose and maintain weight and to be healthier was finally resolved through fasting. I always tried to be health-conscious as I read about diets, food preparation, and practised healthful routines, but I had bad eating and drinking habits I developed through life. While I tried fasting in the past, it was not the CleanFast, and it was not a daily routine. I can say that now I practice a daily 22-hour fast with a 2-hour eating window, which I modify as necessary on special days or occasions. I still have the thyroid issue, but have currently lost 70 pounds on IF since October 1, 2024. It is a testament to the process, regardless of the particular disease. My blood work results are all excellent, and my physical endurance has shown significant improvement. I am not sure if my story will help anyone, but I feel that sharing it may encourage someone on the fence or feeling apprehensive about fasting, or give some encouragement to someone having a difficult time.
