In this episode, the Dean of the School of Education and Health Sciences, Chaplain Marci J Swede, answers questions and shares information about COVID-19 and vaccines. Dean Swede talks on subjects like FDA full approval of Pfizer COVID vaccine and rumors about the possibility of spreading the virus to pets.
The downside of being a Teen is the crisis you will encounter, such as high school, jobs, friends, life planning, bullies, parents' expectations, crushes, and being stuck in the middle. Unfortunately, it feels like everything hits twice as hard when you are a teenager because you feel everything, and no one can understand what you are going through.
Throughout November, we give thanks, and a group of NCC students most deserving of our gratitude is the student veterans. On The Record hosts, Fredlyn and Gray, creates this panel to celebrate the veteran and military-connected community and encourage students, faculty and staff to learn about the different support systems and resources available for veterans and military-connected people on campus. In this episode, guests speaker Christoper Fountain, ’24, and Roger Staudenbaur, ’25, talk about encouraging people to learn more about how veterans help shape the campus community with their unique experiences, courage and dedication to inspiring change.

In this episode, OUTReach co-president Sophia Hiatt, ’24, talks about the problem. Hiatt also discusses the issue of toxic masculinity and ways heterosexuals can join the fight to end homophobia. The month of September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and Cardinal Strong is breaking the stigma on talking about mental health around campus at NCC. In this episode, the President of Cardinal Strong, Carly Nasman, ’23, talks about the organization’s work on campus and ways we as a community can help educate and support each other.
Jokes are a great way to cope with stress and pressures, sometimes in a group of friends, where they create a fun atmosphere and lighten the mood. However, when a joke goes too far, it becomes a problem. We looked at the history of abortion and the recent Texas laws on abortion. As well as the intersectionality of how this impacts people with different identities. In this episode, Chaplain Eric Doolittle talks about LGBTQIA+. He speaks about the mistranslation in the Bible (Luke 17:34) and the importance of context. One of the reasons Doolittle supports the LGBTQIA+ community is because Matthew said, “love your neighbor as yourself” (22:37–39). In addition, he apologizes for not always being loving of LGBTQIA+ in the past and encourages people to love and respect those who are different.
