Vík with Holly Keyser

I was in the southernmost point of Iceland in the village of Vík in the Mýrdalsdalur region. After having visited some of the gems there I dropped by in the home of Holly Keyser who owns and runs the unusual and charming coffee establishment Skool Beans.  We talked about everything that Vík has to offer, from movies shot there to all the natural wonders of the area.
Brew master Sigurður Bragi Ólafsson from the Kaldi Breweries drops by and we dive into their beer, the amazing Kaldi Beer baths, beer culture and the northern region of Eyjafjörður where Kaldi is located. Skál! (Cheers!)
I was in the charming house called Ós in Borgarfjörður Eystri in East Iceland just next to the ocean. Peaceful and inspiring sounds of the waves idling away in the background for some truly calming times, I was visited there by Árni Magnús Magnússon who is truly passionate about this lovely region. He runs various trips in the area and could probably name every rock in the area!
I was on the road and dropped by in the town of Sauðárkrókur and the museum 1238 which covers legendary battles in the history of Iceland. There I met Helgi Sæmundur Guðmundsson and Steinunn Gunnsteinsdóttir who are true locals that work there. Together we dove into some bloody but fun history, with a virtual twist.
Ólafur Steinarsson from Krauma geothermal baths and spa dropped by and we chatted about the relaxing place and what the surrounding area has to offer.
We get to know all about the wonder of the concert hall and conference center Harpa with singer Ingibjörg Fríða Helgadóttir. Harpa is one of the main landmarks in Reykjavík and a true architectural feat, a must when visiting Reykjavík.
Guide, bar owner and theater director, Árni Grétar Jóhannsson met with our host Skúli and they cover some important aspects of nightlife and culture in Iceland. How do you have the best possible time when in Iceland?
In this festive episode we chat with actress and singer Anna Margrét Káradóttir about all things christmas.  We try to scratch the surface of the very specific Iceland traditions and get amped up for the holidays in the process.
In this episode we chat with Blake Greene from the United States; she lives in Reykjavík and works for Iceland Travel. She tells us all about moving to Iceland and about the country as seen through her eyes. There are also many excellent tips for everyone visiting the island in the north.
In this Episode I meet Knútur Rafn Ármann, founder and owner of the family farm of Friðheimar in the village Reykholt in South Iceland. Friðheimar is a great place to experience the integration of greenhouse farming, the icelandic horse, geothermal energy and green practices in general.
In this Episode I talk to Ásta María Marinósdóttir, Sales manager at Special Tours. The subject is whales and whale watching, one the the most popular activities in Iceland.
In this Episode we meet Elín Konráðsdóttir, she’s an experienced guide with a passion for birds. The birds of Iceland are the subject of our conversation and I’m happy to report that we have the same favorite Icelandic bird!
In this Episode I talk to the experienced guide Ingimundur Þór Þorsteinsson about the geology of Iceland. He’s an enthusiast about every aspect of Iceland and we try to focus on geology and how we can all enjoy it in our travels. Iceland is indeed a treasure for everyone interested in geology, it is everywhere around us at least.
In this Episode we visit the special building Perlan or the Pearl where I met Steffi Meisl who works in marketing there. Perlan is definitely one of the major landmarks in Iceland, a pearl looking dome on top of six water tanks, perched on the hilltop of Öskjuhlíð in Reykjavík. One can’t miss it. The immersive Wonders of Iceland exhibition is there and Steffi gives us insights into what it is all about.
