I took a week off from the podcast because I’m an essential worker and I needed som R & R. Back at it with a mini episode of Essentials Talk, more full episodes coming soon!
For this episode I talked to 2 essential workers, one essential worker who contracted Covid this summer at his job. Our second guest caller I talk to an essential worker who has a background in medical studies and talks about what he knows about Covid.
What does electricity and the shipping industry have in common? The electronics we use and charge that we use daily for podcasting and multiple other uses. See what Ryan and Adam have to say about what it’s been like being and essential worker.
A shorter episode where I read through 10 group member testimonials from the Facebook group GIVE ESSENTIAL WORKERS ESSENTIAL PAY.
For the first caller I talk to long time Facebook group member and supporter Mia in California who’s an essential worker that has been on double duty and working 2 jobs since the pandemic started. After I talk to Mia I head back over to upstate NY and talk to Rick, who talks to us about his frustrations of being an essential worker and the struggle of being a parent while also being an essential worker.
Today I talked to Wisdom and “V” who have worked throughout the Covid pandemic. Both callers express their feelings about the essential workforce and what their job is like as an essential worker “behind the scenes.”
10 more essential worker stories from the essential worker group on Facebook GIVE ESSENTIAL WORKERS ESSENTIAL PAY. Today I read though some frustrations and read through a couple testimonies of how the working class need to unite as one and fight for what the essential workers deserve.
I always love talking to front line workers from the grocery stores for the podcast, but it was a trip talking to butcher Chris about how the pandemic has effected him and his department at the deli at a grocery store in Florida. After Chris and I are finished, I talk to Spenser who works at a recycling plant in the finger lakes that handles medical waste and other sorts of unique special wastes.
For today’s episode I talked to my very close personal friend Jay and Jenna, a woman I recently started collaborating with on social media. Jay and Jenna both have a lot in common about how they feel about corporate greed, and how they’re spending their free time and talent to build their side hustles to hopefully be able to do what they love full time.
It’s Wednesday! Which means it’s time for the midweek mini episode of Essentials Talk, where I take 10 group member stories from the Facebook group GIVE ESSENTIAL WORKERS ESSENTIAL PAY and read them on here so people can understand why essential workers are so frustrated. I also talk about Chris Hyzy’s Essential Workers Unite Rally in Dallas TX on Saturday September 19th at noon at city hall.
Today, I finally get to publish an episode with all essential working ladies! However, our callers both have unique jobs where you won’t find a lot of women, but you’ll find these 2 doing the damn thing! Find out what the pandemic has been like for them both working in their fields and at home.
For the 13th episode I start off talking to Tom from West Virginia who’s been working on his family farm since the Covid pandemic started. Tom goes into what has been going on in the agricultural industry and what isn’t being talked about right now and how farming and agriculture is overlooked. For the second guest, I talk to Jay in Westchester NY, which is a city directly north of New York City. He tells us how his job in the shipping industry has been and how busy his office has gotten. Jay and I also go into our personal views and feelings on politics. It gets weird, but you’ll be entertained that’s for sure!
A couple long stories this week! The pandemic is stressful for many essential workers. I also read another story this week from a group member of GIVE ESSENTIAL WORKERS ESSENTIAL PAY who has been deemed “non essential” however has been kind enough to support the essential workforce. I remind everyone in the beginning of the episode about our Essential Workers Unite rally in Dallas TX on 9/19 that is being put on by past guest caller Chris Hyzy.
Today, I talk to Jerri in Georgia and Dave in North Carolina. Both have been working at grocery stores since the pandemic started. During this episode you guys will learn that some workers have it good, and some workers not so good unfortunately.
Today I talk with 2 entertainers that tell us what they have been doing since the Pandemic started and how its effected their careers. Stunnv and Mysterious-E also dive into the issues with the essential workforce and what they’ve been doing to show the essential workers some love. Special thank you Myster-E aka Eric Shandroff for letting me use “You Are Essential” to make the podcast sound awesome!
For the 9th episode, I kick off the mini episode with a highlight from one of the guests on the show this weekend, Mr. E. Mr. E aka Eric Shandroff is the artist who wrote the song “You Are Essential” and has been so kind to let me use his song as the shows intro and outro. After this highlight I read through 10 member stories from our Facebook group GIVE ESSENTIAL WORKERS ESSENTIAL PAY.
We finish off our 2 part episode talking with Edward again and he tells us about what is going on with his campaigns out in California. We are soon joined my Muneeb and Richard who are working with us to fight for the essential workforce as well. We finish off the episode going into the dangers of what “ghost kitchens” can do for your health, and the economy. Thank you again Edward, Muneeb and Richard from Essential Workers Unite action for being guests on todays show!
Today, former Greystar property management employee Chris Hyzy speaks to us about a hate crime he endured at this job on July 3rd. Chris dives deep into the details of what happened to him at work that day, and how the aftermath of this event has been going. Parts of this story may trigger some listeners, but tragic events like this are happening all over the country to essential workers and people aren’t listening. Since Chris was brave enough to share his story with myself and you guys, hopefully someone will listen and something will get done about the physical and mental abuse that is happening to essential workers right now. Thank you again Chris for sharing your story with me, our Facebook group and our listeners.
I start off our weekly mini episode with a quick announcement and go over an essential workers rally in Washington DC at Jeff bezos’ DC mansion at noon on Thursday August 27th. After that urgent announcement, I give you a quick teaser of one of our episodes coming this weekend; The New Alternative Labor Movement (part 2 of 2). We hear 10 different member testimonies from our Facebook group GIVE ESSENTIAL WORKERS ESSENTIAL PAY. I wrap things up as usual and give a special thank you to Chris Smalls for reaching out to me about supporting the podcast, also The Baka Boys for using their platform to acknowledge that all essential workers deserve hazard pay.
Great news! I was able to find the Twitter group @Essentialworker that have been making some noise for the essential workers online like myself and several others. Edward goes into his campaign that he has begun to start for us and he dives into some of the issues that the essential workforce is dealing with while working throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Check out Edwards website essentialworkersunite.org for more information on his involvement with the essential workforce. Follow up episode coming next week with Edward and one of his campaign partners Muneeb!
