In which X7 takes us to the land of the Moab Giants, and has a lot of fun doing it. This made the entire trip to Moab worth it! Let's roll!
In which Xy wants us to know he did NOT talk the ears off Jeffrey (not his real name) at the visitor center of Utahraptor State Park today! See, he can learn some dino-manners (play on words there, you know)! Utah is a beautiful state, but 7 is ready to go back to good ol' Fossil Bed! Let's roll!
In which X7 takes a look at the remake of the classic Land of the Lost (1974) series. For some reason, Krofft Productions thought it would be a good idea to remake the whole thing in 1991. It is not the worst kid's show ever, and does have some great dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. However, the scripts are a bit lacking. Take it for what it is, and it isn't too bad.
In which X7 takes a look at the Roy Chapman Andrews book All About Dinosaurs. This book was ubiquitous in dinosaur-loving kids' libraries for at least thirty years. X7 has had several copies himself, generally donated from older kids who somehow outgrew their love of dinosaurs. We blame sportsball for that unique phenomenon. Take a trip back to 1953 and the Gobi Desert! And yes, that is the cover of the book X7 owns.
In which X7 talks about the fourth Three Stooges feature film, 1962's The Three Stooges in Orbit! Sure, it could have been about 12 minutes shorter, but it is a fun time capsule from the era. Let's head into orbit with the boys!
In which X7 reviews four more episodes of the amazing Speed Racer cartoon, and tries to keep count of how often the narrator tells us that Racer X is really Speed's older brother Rex! It's a good thing this is not a drinking game! Drop the flag, let's roll!
In which X7 talks at length about one of his favorite Toho movies, Yog, Monster from Space, AKA Space Amoeba! He saw it at a young age, and aliens, monsters, and men fighting worked for him! Let's dive into the movie!
In which X7 almost returns to Shaolin, but not quite, with Crippled Avengers! This was released in the States as Mortal Combat, far predating the videogame franchise. It's a very good movie, so watch and find out why!
In which X7 takes a look and listen to the true cult classic Phantom of the Paradise! This 1974 movie doesn't seem to be that well known outside of the fandom, but that is what we can glean from friends and family! There is a lot to like about the movie though, so take a look and listen! Let's rock and roll!
In which X7 talks about the last four episodes of the most excellent Jinzo Ningen Kikaida! This is a love affair that started with Famous Monsters 114 some 50 years ago! He loves it, and it is evident! Switch on!
In which X7 does a redo of The 30th Anniversary Speed Racer book, which was originally talked about in Season 2, episode 174. You can find that on Spotify, but nowhere else. Sure seems like a long time ago! This is a great book, so lets roll!
In which X7 talks about the fun and unfairly maligned The Phantom Planet (1961)! He saw it as a young agent, without knowing anything about the movie. It is quite enjoyable, if you don't expect Star Wars, or even Starcrash! Lift off!
In which X7 begins a new cartoon series, the classic Speed Racer from 1967! This first episode has some background, so it runs a bit longer than usual. It is a great show, and deserves all the accolades it has garnered over the years! Drop the flag, and let's roll!
In which X7 tries to say lots of nice things about Blood from the Mummy's Tomb, and does an admirable job of it. However, he is not very enthused about the movie overall, sadly. It is rare to hear him talk this way about a movie, and we will return to form this week. Let's unwrap his reasons!
In which X7 takes on the excellent 1987 war-martial arts movie, Eastern Condors! It proves there are no real winners in most wars. Just ask Vizinni- "You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia' - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line" Yep, The Princess Bride gets a quote! Let's roll!
In which X7 has thoughts about Fantasia, and expresses them! The movie is a triumph of sound and sight, and should be taught in classes of some kind. What kind? Beats us, but that isn't the point! Tune up your orchestra and let's roll!
In which X7 looks at episodes 36-39 of Kikaida, making this episode of Xenorama the penultimate episode of Kikaida! In one week we will discover just how things end! Not Denji End, but the actual end! Change! Switch On!
In which X7 reviews a seminal book from his wee agenthood, 1977's From the Land Beyond Beyond (Jeff Rovin, author)! There were two copies there that day at the much missed City News here in Fossil Bed, and I got one. A certain "genius" got the other one, and that is how we met a few days later. Math class improved a lot after that!
In which X7 celebrates the end of Series 3, and the end of 2025 with some new tricks! He also talks about the newest acquisitions to his ever-growing media library. Shoot him, it's late and he as Endgame to watch! Let's roll!
In which X7 reviews a movie he has never seen before, Francis (1950). "The Talking Mule" is only a subtitle, presumably to let viewers know what they are watching. It is our guess it was added after the first sequel was out. The world may never know. Let's roll!
