Your Calvinist Podcast with Keith Foskey

What do we love—and are we loving those things in the proper order? In this installment of the YourCalvinist Podcast Reformation Series 2026, Keith Foskey sits down with Alex Kocman to discuss Augustine and the concept of Ordo Amoris (the "order of love"). Augustine understood that the problem with the human heart is not simply that we fail to love, but that our loves can become disordered. We can love good things too much, greater things too little, and created things above the Creator. The Christian life, therefore, involves learning to love what God loves and to value things according to their proper place.Keith and Alex discuss Augustine's understanding of rightly ordered love, how it fits within his broader theology, and why this ancient idea continues to have profound implications for Christians today. To learn about Alex and get his book, visit his website:https://alexkocman.com Support the Show: http://www.buymeacoffee.com/Yourcalvi...https://www.Page50.com/YourCalvinistPage50 is a Marketing Company that is committed to helping you build your brand with truth, goodness, and beauty. Martin Luther is remembered as the man who sparked the Protestant Reformation; but there is much more to his story than the 95 Theses. In this special episode of the YourCalvinist Podcast, Keith and Jennifer Foskey sit down with author Danika Cooley to discuss her book When Lightning Struck: The Story of Martin Luther. Drawing from the extensive research she conducted while writing the book, Danika takes us beyond the familiar moments of Luther’s life and introduces us to some of the people, events, struggles, and experiences that shaped the famous Reformer. We discuss Luther’s early life, his dramatic decision to become a monk, his struggle to understand the grace of God, the events surrounding the Reformation, his marriage and family, and several lesser-known stories that help us better understand Martin Luther as a man, not merely as a historical figure.Featured Book: When Lightning Struck: The Story of Martin Luther by Danika Cooleyhttps://a.co/d/06pLugHTSupport the Show: http://www.buymeacoffee.com/Yourcalvi...https://www.Page50.com/YourCalvinistPage50 is a Marketing Company that is committed to helping you build your brand with truth, goodness, and beauty. Do Catholics and Protestants believe the same Gospel? The Protestant Reformation was not simply a disagreement over church government, tradition, or the authority of the Pope. At the heart of the controversy was a much more fundamental question: How is a sinner made right with God?In this installment of the YourCalvinist Podcast Reformation Series 2026, I sit down with Ryan Hemelaar of NeedGod.net to discuss the differences between the Roman Catholic and Protestant understandings of the Gospel. Are these simply different expressions of the same Christian faith, or are they fundamentally different understandings of the Gospel itself? Whether you are Protestant, Catholic, or simply trying to understand the theological issues that led to the Reformation, I hope this conversation helps clarify what was, and still is, at stake.“For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.” Romans 3:28Support the Show: http://www.buymeacoffee.com/Yourcalvi...https://www.Page50.com/YourCalvinistPage50 is a Marketing Company that is committed to helping you build your brand with truth, goodness, and beauty. Was Jonathan Edwards one of the greatest theologians America ever produced, and why did the church he served for more than two decades eventually dismiss him?In this episode, I sit down with Jonathan Edwards scholar Matthew Everhard to explore the remarkable life, theology, and ministry of Jonathan Edwards. We discuss how Edwards carried forward the theological convictions of the Protestant Reformation, his role in the First Great Awakening, and the story behind perhaps the most famous sermon in American history, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. We also examine a lesser-known and fascinating chapter of Edwards’ life: the controversy that ultimately led to his dismissal from the Northampton church after more than 20 years of ministry. Along the way, Matthew helps us understand Edwards not merely as a historical figure, but as a pastor, theologian, revival preacher, and thinker whose influence continues to shape Reformed Christianity today.Topics include:• Jonathan Edwards’ life and ministry• Edwards and the theology of the Reformation• The First Great Awakening• Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God• Revival and religious affections• Edwards’ ministry in Northampton• The controversy that led to his dismissal• Edwards’ continuing influence on Reformed theologyIf you enjoy conversations about theology, church history, the Reformation, and the people who shaped the Christian faith, subscribe for more conversations like this one.Links to Matthew Everhard   / @mattheweverhard   Jonathan Edwards Study Biblehttps://a.co/d/03nfBBOySupport the Show: http://www.buymeacoffee.com/Yourcalvi...https://www.Page50.com/YourCalvinistPage50 is a Marketing Company that is committed to helping you build your brand with truth, goodness, and beauty.
