We’re wrapping up our series with the reminder that to go forward, sometimes we have to go back. The reality is that there are some patterns of thinking and behavior that we’ve carried on from our past that are unhealthy and out of line with the way of Jesus, and we need to break them in order to move forward. But there are also things from our past we need to identify and celebrate. What does it look like to pass those things on as we follow Jesus?CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder

Everyone loves a good story. It could also be argued that everyone is living into and from a story—the kicker is if we can attach that little word “good” to ours…but that’s the hope right? Bobette Buster argues that we are “narrative animals’, that we are hard-wired to look and live from meaning. The problem is that sometimes we attach our stories to false narratives that deeply impact how we relate to God, ourselves, and others. The bigger problem is that we’re often unaware of that reality. But as we follow Jesus, we connect our story to a bigger story: His story, and learn to live more fully into what is good, true and beautiful.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
The desire to change some of our default ways of relating is a pretty common and shared experience, however many of us have tried to change through conscious effort and will power again and again, only to end up with similar results. So what’s the way forward? Through self-clarity, knowing our story and where we come from and sharing our story with others, all in relationship with God, the One who is completely trustworthy, we can experience transformation.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
As we organize our lives around following Jesus, part of the intentional work around “who we are becoming” is directly linked to our ability to understand where we come from. Our present is shaped by our past; and it’s really difficult to deal with, grow through, and allow God to change what you can’t see.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder

As we continue our series, “Life Beneath The Surface”, we’re taking a look at how following Jesus can intersect a common struggle across the human condition; a struggle that can show up in a multitude of expressions and come from a variety of sources: anxiety.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE. As we continue the journey of digging into life beneath the surface, we come up against the struggle around forgiveness; giving it, receiving it, and being formed by it.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
As we learn to more fully apprentice under Jesus, we must learn to integrate our whole lives, including some of the harder to name and possibly intentionally untouched stuff. This week, we have Dr. Tamara Powell from CU Denver joining us to talk about grief as we continue our series, “Life Beneath the Surface.”CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
As we continue on this journey of life beneath the surface, we look to Jesus both for the invitation into life WITH him but also the model on how to become LIKE Him. We looked at the daily practice of silence and solitude last week. This week, we will look at the weekly practice of Sabbath.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
The desire to change… it’s in all of us to varying degrees. But actually changing… that’s a whole other matter entirely. Dallas Willard says “If we are to be transformed, the body must be transformed, and that is not accomplished by talking at it.” But how often has that been the strategy? The consistent conclusion both from the life of Jesus as well as two millennia of church history is that among the spiritual disciplines, there is one in particular that could be labeled “the most important” of all the disciplines in helping us on our journey of apprenticing under Jesus.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE. The invitation from Jesus to “follow me” was not only an invitation to be with Him, but to “follow Jesus together”. Becoming like Jesus and doing what He did are both deeply tied to the practices we adopt and the community we practice alongside.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
“New Year, New Me.” It’s a bit cliche; maybe a bit outdated; and it’s almost biblical. We are all becoming someone; whether who we are becoming is intentional or not cannot be left to wishful thinking or assumption. Our character arc over the course of a year is probably anything but “up and to the right” when left unattended. There’s definitely a “new me” as we step into 2024, but what if it’s not the “me” you wanted to be? Jesus cares deeply about who we are becoming, but He is not forcing formation, He’s inviting us into the process WITH Him.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:|www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
We’re kicking off the new year with one of our church planting partners, Bryson McGuire, sharing a helpful message of approach and posture| as we consider practicing the way of Jesus together in Boulder on this new trip around the sun.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
Maybe you’re in a place where a longing is developing inside of you this advent season. Maybe there’s something inside you that would say, “I want to see, and hear, and know God more deeply.” Maybe not. Maybe you WISH that was the longing inside you, but if you were to be honest… it’s just not. Whichever side of the longing equation you fall on, there’s a question we can ask, maybe that we must ask in response: “WHAT SHOULD WE DO?”CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
As we continue on this Advent journey, we look at John, the cousin of Jesus, and how he invites us to respond to the arrival of Jesus.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
Advent literally means “arrival” - the season of advent is one where we create space to reflect on the arrival of Jesus and one where we allow that reflection to uniquely shape us as Jesus followers. On that first Christmas night, the most important thing to ever happen in human history was happening. Simultaneously, the world kept turning and most people totally missed it. Advent is an opportunity for us to slow down, notice, and receive the gift of “God with us;” but if we don’t slow down, we might miss the most important thing to ever happen in human history… and the most important thing to ever happen in us.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
Life is made up of a series of interruptions and invitations. Some of those interruptions and invitations are simple and seemingly non-consequential; others are life-altering. As we wrap up our series, “The Good Book”, there’s an invitation knocking…how will we respond?CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
We’ve spent the last few weeks talking about what the scriptures are, where they came from, and how we can trust them as an act of trust in God. Now we’re taking a big picture look at what the Bible is FOR. Authority. A word many people have an allergic reaction to. This week, we will take a look at Jesus, his relationship to the scriptures, and what means for the Bible to function as authority in our lives.CITY CHURCH EXISTS TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THEIR WAY TO GOD FROM WHERE THEY ARE.You can find us here:www.citychurchboulder.com www.facebook.com/citychurchboulder www.instagram.com/citychurchboulder
