A warm welcome back to Roxana! Roxana (@honestrox and @growintrovert) has organized a truly special online summit to introverts. It's totally free and super high-value. And I had the honour of being asked to speak on how to lead a community when you have social anxiety. In today's episode, we talk about all the summit and what's it been like for Roxana to organize it behind-the-scenes as an introvert with social anxiety herself. SUMMIT DETAILS: The summit runs from July 4th-9th, and I will be there to talk about how to lead a community when you have social anxiety, because having social anxiety doesn't mean we can't or don't want to be leaders! The sessions are pre-recorded, so you don’t need to wake up at 3:00 AM to watch (hurray!). I’ll be joined by other amazing introverted leaders who are making an impact in their space, and I would love for you to hear all the insightful conversations that are going to take place. And it's totally free with the option to purchase lifetime access to replays! CLICK HERE TO REGISTER!* :) All you have to do is register here https://sadiehall--honestrox.thrivecart.com/sadie-hall-online-summit-discount/ and that’s it! *this is an affiliate link, which means that if you upgrade to lifetime access to the summit, I'll get a small commission at no extra cost to you. thank you so much!

In today's episode, I talk to clinical psychologist Dr. Tynessa Franks about dating, weddings, marriage, and sex while socially anxious. We discuss these questions: Dating: What can we do if we want to date but social anxiety is holding us back? Wedding: What should we do if we’re terrified at the thought of our own wedding? Let’s say one partner wants a traditional wedding but the socially anxious partner is terrified by that idea. Marriage: How can social anxiety impact a healthy marriage? Sex: What are some ways sexual intimacy can be impacted by social anxiety, and what can we do about it? About Dr. Franks: Tynessa Franks is a clinical psychologist and self-defined "shy girl". She realized a strong passion for helping people who struggle with worrying too much about what other people think and started Bashful & Bright in 2019 with this mission at the forefront. She creates videos, conducts group psychotherapy, and teaches a comprehensive online course to help women and men improve their social anxiety so they can start showing up, speaking up, and engaging in social interactions in a way that feels good. I hope you enjoy this candid conversation with Russell about blushing, social anxiety, and more. If you do, please follow the author and do consider buying his book! Links are below.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Russell Norris has always struggled with social anxiety and (in particular) erythrophobia: the fear of blushing. He's been a copywriter for 20 years and eventually became an exec at a big advertising agency in London. But the anxiety and blushing were always there. And he desperately tried to hide it all from everyone. Until he wrote the book "Redface", released in April 2021, a memoir that opens up about his lifelong fear of blushing – and encourages fellow blushers to do the same.

Have you ever wondered if someone with social anxiety could get into acting, screenwriting, or other performing arts? I know I used to wonder. I used to wish I could be an actor "if only" I weren't so scared. If that sounds relatable to you, I think you'll really enjoy my conversation with actor and screenwriter Barry O'Neil, who wrote and stars in SING ALONG IF YOU KNOW THE WORDS, a short film dealing with social anxiety that recently premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival.
This episode was originally an Instagram Live interview I did with Barry. Check out the video version here!
Follow @singalongfilm on Instagram for behind-the-scenes photos and updates on the fim!
You'll hear me ask Barry these questions:
1. Can you tell us what inspired you to write this film?
2. Why did you choose the metaphor of feeling like everyone around you knows the words to a song and you don’t?
3. Can you tell us what it's like to be a performer/actor with social anxiety?
4. Are there any other ways social anxiety has impacted your creativity?
5. What takeaways do you hope viewers will get from the film?
6. Do you have any tips for anyone out there who is interested in screenwriting, acting, or other creative pursuits but who feels like they are too shy, introverted, or socially anxious?
7. What's the best way for us to watch the film and support your work?
𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐦
The story follows Ben, who throws a dinner party to conquer his fear of speaking in groups.
As the party gets away from him, Ben grows increasingly frustrated and suddenly finds himself at the center of a real-life musical theatre number in his dining room, only he's the only one who doesn't know the words or music.
After escaping to the bathroom for a panicked call with his therapist, Ben finally musters the courage to try singing along with his guests, even if the outcome is disastrous.

1. Can you tell us what your anxiety management mentorship looks like?
2. Early in your book, you wrote about how scary it was to reach out to a doctor for help with your mental health when you didn't know what you were dealing with. Can you talk to us about that?
3. In your book, you talk about driving anxiety, and how you had a near-accident during one of your practice sessions. But you kept practicing. Can you talk to us about that incident, and how you managed to push through?
4. A big part of your book is about developing healthy morning and evening routines. What do your routines look like these days?
5. Can you talk to us about your anxiety toolkit? Does it go beyond morning and evening routines?
6. What advice would you give to someone who wants to build their own anxiety toolkit?
