Description

Welcome to the FPL Lounge. Sit back and relax whilst listening to Andy and Chris discuss the week's FPL happenings. With Andy's blend of stats and football knowledge (which saw him finish in the top 5k overall last season) and Chris' unique, perhaps more neutral view on FPL, you might just pick up a few helpful tips along the way too (although don't hold us to that!). Every good lounge should be relaxing and so the FPL Lounge aims to be detailed enough that its helpful for your mini league position, without taking things too seriously.

Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our GW33 Preview! The key FPL news kicks us off and it focuses on this GW being in a European sandwich. Like last week, the radar is influenced by the chips you may or may not have left, and by a large DGW looming next week. A couple of new additions make their way on including a previously much maligned FPL asset with some very interesting recent stats. Some interesting returns from injury for big players has also caught the lads' eyes. Hold your horses and don your swimming trunks - there's actually a tide to swim against! And its a potentially risky one, but the lads explain why they think transferring in one of the league's best players could be an error. Captaincy seems close this week, with the usual suspects seeming like the best shouts - but which one?! They end, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter) or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for the GW23 Preview. Barely a couple of days since the last deadline so not loads of talking points, although some key further info on Mr. Erling Braut Haaland, with his long-awaited return to action. The radar reflects the impact of the return of one the most expensive and highly owned FPL assets ever in Haaland. The lads discuss how desperate, or not, the need is to get him back in immediately. Another striker at the other end of the price spectrum sneaks his way on as does another Man City premium player and - unusually for the lads - a guy they've got all excited about despite the numbers. Pure vibezzzz. What's that - can I hear the bees? With very few transfers taking place yet the lads wheel out the honey traps again and try to suggest a scenario they can see happening this gameweek. They end, as ever, with captaincy and a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter) or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads return to preview GW17. Premium player chaos in the news this week with reports of a Haaland injury (or is there??) and the spectre of Son and Salah's departures for most of Jan, mixed in with the impending Wildcard deadline, all leaving managers with big dilemmas. The lads explain and consider the options. City and Brentford blanking in GW18 heavily impacts fixture runs and so the radar hasn't vastly changed for the past few GWs. That said, the lads consider a move to THE CENTRE for a previously unlikely candidate, who might come into the thinking if no-Haaland is confirmed and a few more possible candidates who've crept their way onto the fringe. The tides this week hugely influenced by blankers and suspensions so more honey traps are being laid out... will anyone ever get caught in one?! For once, captaincy is a minefield with many options to consider even if Haaland ends up playing - but particularly so if not. The lads then finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter) or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads return to preview GW14 A rarity for this season takes place with midweek Premier League games meaning 3 FPL GWs in 9 days. the lads highlight the issues this raises for you teams. It also starts the run in towards the congested Xmas fixture schedule, which has consequences for Wildcard. When added to rearranged games coz of City's Arabian adventures, it calls for some chip strategy consideration, and how to build your team towards it Some outstanding underlying numbers, regained fitness and improved fixtures result in 3 new radar picks for the lads to consider. Its getting real sticky out there with even more honey traps being laid out this week - again no tides to swim against. Many potential captaincy options with many good options playing at home - but can anyone challenge the usual contenders. The lads finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who the Heck is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter) or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe wherever you get your pods, so you always get new episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads return to preview GW12. As seems to be the case across the entire football landscape at the moment, VAR was a talking point for the lads this week, as well as the European midweek consequences for FPL. Some cheap soon-to-be starters in one of the best defences in the league make their way onto the radar this week, with another cheap new starter on the fringe too. A positive turn of fixtures for a London team draws out some further options on, or just outside, the radar. More reactionary Haaland action and big injuries means not much original to swim against again, so the lads whip out their honey traps once more. What do they believe might happen, that others perhaps wouldn't...? Captaincy seems to have a few contenders this week before they finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who the Heck is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter) or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe so you always get episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our preview of Gameweek 8 - the last before an International break A very similar looking radar to last week as the trends spotted then continue, but 2 midfielders and strikers who've been highly adored in these parts before are rearing their heads again too: one each for the radar and for the "anyone else" watchlist. Someone call Winnie the Pooh as the lads are rolling out the Honey Traps again this week, with injuries and fixture swings dominating transfers and not leaving much to swim against. Can they swing low sweet chariot?? STOP THE PRESS... Captaincy is an actual conversation this Gameweek!! The lads of course discuss the main man Erling, but if ever there's a week to genuinely think about some other options... hear what the lads have to say. They end, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who the Heck is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on X (fka Twitter) or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe so you always get episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for our preview of Gameweek 7. Some potentially helpful rotation this week with the Carabao cup rather than Europe taking up the midweek games. Many defenders remain on and join the radar this week with varying risks and opportunities which the lads discuss. Some top premium assets of FPL past are starting to catch the eye again too... A swimming against the tide this week which seems to hugely go against popular opinion (and the data experts!), but the lads seem pretty set on going against it... spolier alert - it involves a Double Gameweeker The lads discuss captaincy and vice captaincy - whilst realising they missed someone they'd eyed up for the radar, so do listen out! And they end, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who the Heck is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on Twitter or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe so you always get episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! European football returns but the lads, as ever, are focusing on FPL in this, their preview of Gameweek 6. European rotation of course if a concern at this time of the season, but with so many injuries mounting for the Manchester clubs, how much rotation will we see? The lads feel confident that De Zerbi's Brighton will more than make up for it. No centre of the radar again this week, but a packed mid-range and fringe, featuring a player the lads *nearly* swam against last week and a defender - yes, defender - with the 3rd best non-penalty xG in the league! Show me the honey, bebe! Nothing to swim against this time, so the lads get sticky, before finishing with captaincy, and a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on Twitter or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe so you always get episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back after the international break and the transfer window SLAMMING shut to preview Gamweek 5. Our first FPL DGW of the season has been announced and it's a big one, when in GW7 two titans of FPL, Burnley and Luton, square off twice - how will we resist bringing in assets from those two? Perhaps they can replace some pre-international break injury worries? Or maybe you can Wild Card them in? The lads discuss the options. A trim radar features no-one in the centre, but a new, possible out-of-position player for the mid-range, while the fringe includes a budget forward and a group of defenders with underlying numbers going unnoticed. the lads swim against a defender who's started the season in rich goalscoring form, but without underlyings to back it up. They are also tempted to swim against a quality forward who may become a minutes risk... The (vice) captaincy discussion centres around North London assets, with a small mention of a certain Man Utd forward... before they finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on Twitter or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe so you always get episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The lads are back to preview the final Gameweek before the International Break (and the transfer window closing!). Transfers - and potential transfers - dominate the news with last minute carnage occurring all over the league. What will the impact be on FPL? What's the best way to try and deal with all the upheaval? The radar is interesting this week with 2 well-performing English MIDs causing much debate - the lads fall down firmly on the side of one over the other. Some moves in and out of the radar for others and an Anyone Else section which is growing by the minute, as transfers bring new possibilities into the foreground. Nothing to swim against again this week, so the lads lay out more Honey Traps - after last week's successes. Captaincy yet again becomes vice-captaincy with many seemingly good options (if Erling Haaland weren't a thing). They finish, as ever, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on Twitter or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe so you always get episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! The season is now in full swing, and the lads turn their attention to GW3. They start by running through the latest FPL news, with European midweek fixtures beginning for one team, and injuries and transfers aplenty impacting FPL assets. They also have a quick look at the utility of using the Bench Boost chip in GW3, given a good set of fixtures for many assets. On the radar, the centre is dominated by two team-mates with the best underlying numbers in the league, with the mid-range also dominated by some slightly more expensive team-mates. Many players on the fringe remain there from last week, but with a special nod to Chelsea's attractive impending fixture run. Nothing to swim against this week, so they try to catch each other in their honey traps, with goals and newly promoted teams the focus, before finishing with a vice-captaincy chat (yes, Haaland will be everyone's captain) and a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on Twitter or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe so you always get episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! As the dust settles on GW1, we go again as we look ahead to GW2. The lads give a few of their takeaways after GW1, including some concern for Man Utd, and less concern about Aston Villa, despite their respective results. O the radar, the lads look at an eye-catching defender in the centre, while KDB's injury presents some opportunities in the mid-range. The Fringe features four players, including two exciting forwards and two midfielders who returned in GW1. They swim against a player they both like, but with an atrocious fixture run, before debating Salah vs Haaland for the armband. They finish, as always, with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on Twitter or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe so you always get episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
We're back, baby! Welcome once again to the FPL Lounge for our flagship GW1 Preview episode - and how good does it feel for football and FPL to be back?! The start of this season feels more difficult to navigate than usual, and with that, Andy & Chris start by discussing how new football rules relating to added time and bookings could affect FPL. They look at the 'template' and how playing safe early can benefit your team further down the line, as well as advising of a keen ear on opening week press conferences from Premier League managers. The radar focuses on one of the league's better defences, with a high-owned player in the mid-range and some budget midfielders on the fringe. They swim against a high-points scorer from last season being featured in over a third of active teams, before finishing with captaincy and the latest renewal of a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you like what you hear, do let the guys know on Twitter or Insta @FPL_Lounge and be sure to subscribe so you always get episodes in advance of the Gameweek deadline!
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! Join Andy & Chris for their series of season preview podcasts, the FPL Lounge Long Weekend. In this final of four episodes ahead of the 2023/24 season, they'll be looking at Forwards.  With only two 'premium' forwards in the game this year, how irresistible is Erling Haaland? Can managers survive without him? Is there a way to own both him and Kane? The lads try to answer all these questions. There are only two mid-priced options from £7.0-8.5m that appeal to Andy & Chris, although they acknowledge that others could come to the fore if their minutes are more guaranteed. There's plenty of intrigue in the budget options, though, including a possible Brighton forward on penalties and Brentford's Ivan Toney replacement. That's a wrap for the Long Weekend; next up is the GW1 Preview, due to be recorded Wednesday and with you by Thursday. Don't forget to follow the lads on twitter and instagram @FPL_Lounge.
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! Join Andy & Chris for their series of season preview podcasts, the FPL Lounge Long Weekend. In this third episode of four ahead of the 2023/24 season, they'll be looking at Midfielders.  With only four 'premium' midfielders in the game this year, can managers survive without? Is Salah worth his price tag? Can Son rediscover his 2021/22 form? The lads try to answer all these questions. There are a number of mid-priced options from £6.5-8.5m that could be worth consideration, although many of the big names feel like more of a 'wait and see' to Andy & Chris. There's a similar feel to the budget options, with a few £4,5m shouts potentially worth a gamble ahead of GW1. The final Long Weekend episode will be released on Monday, ahead of the flagship GW1 Preview later this week. Don't forget to follow the lads on twitter and instagram @FPL_Lounge.
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! Join Andy & Chris for their series of season preview podcasts, the FPL Lounge Long Weekend. In this second of four episodes ahead of the 2023/24 season, they'll be looking at Defenders.  Premium Defenders were in abundance last season but what will the lads make of the options this year? And how will that affect who or how many of the mid range and budget options they look at. All the price tiers are discussed along with the pros and cons of many defensive options for you team. The episodes for Midfielders and Forwards will be released over the next two consecutive days, ahead of the flagship GW1 Preview next week. Don't forget to follow the lads on twitter and instagram @FPL_Lounge.
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! Join Andy & Chris for their series of season preview podcasts, the FPL Lounge Long Weekend. In this first of four episodes ahead of the 2023/24 season, they start by taking a look at general FPL strategy, ahead of what *should* be a 'normal' Premier League and therefore FPL season.  They spend the second half of the podcast looking at their least favourite FPL position, goalkeepers, analysing options for every budget and questioning their own 'keepers strategy of seasons gone by. The episodes for Defenders, Midfielders and Forwards will be released over the next three consecutive days, ahead of their flagship GW1 Preview next week. Don't forget to follow the lads on twitter and instagram @FPL_Lounge.

Welcome back to the FPL Lounge! At the end of a long and gruelling season, Chris and Andy are back to review how it went. In this first of two season review shows the lads go position by position to ponder the various FPL assets who stood out. This then leads them to a team of the season from both and ultimately, the third annual, ever-prestigious, FPL Lounge Player of the Season (from a fantasy perspective). Whoever could it be....? Please do rate, review and subscribe wherever you get your pods and let us know what you make of our TOTS picks on twitter or instagram @FPL_Lounge
Welcome back to the FPL Lounge for the GW36 Preview. The lads are back again as the Gameweeks come in thick and fast - and this ones a doubler! With only 3 GWs left and doubles this week and next, the radar features players form teams with extra fixtures. The biggest of debates this week is which NEW FWD to go for - the lads talk through the pros and cons of Isak vs Wilson. They go on to look at other BRI and NEW assets, plus anyone else catching their eye Swimming against the tide features a player who's scored a few from the edge of the box recently and is one of the highest scoring players in the game - are the lads too bold in swimming against bringing him in? Captaincy takes into account City's intense 2 legs against R. Madrid which straddle this GW, plus the fact 2 teams are on doubles - do you go for the the old guard of Haaland/Salah or a doubler from NEW or BRI? Although the title is done and dusted, anguish still persists for Chris as the lads end the show with a little game they like to call Who The Heck Is Stat?! If you've read this far you're a true fan so please feel free to rate and review us on iTunes or wherever you get your pods. And subscribe to ensure you have new shows as soon as they're available - always before the Gameweek deadline! @FPL_Lounge on socials.
